"We're following Dad to work....SURPRISE!!!" Secret's out Trip - May/June 2013

my pleasure. I missed reading it.

Plans look great. So... you & DH have a date night? We were thinking of putting the youngest one in one of the clubs, but I keep debating it. Have you put the kids in one before? If so, which one(s)?

Good luck with DQ. The boys will love it, you maybe not so much. ;)

Have a great week!

Thanks for posting the reveal!

Dee

Ha! That's so awesome that you also have taught math!!! Small world :thumbsup2

As for a PTR...you won't find it...sadly, I am not brave enough to try and write one. I thought about attempting a TR after the June trip...but....I will likely forget to take notes, forget what day everything happened, not take any pictures, and therefore...chicken out! Everyone's TRs are so amazing I just couldn't live up to it!!! :rotfl2:

Nothing was ruined by you changing your plans, of course!! I will just have to check in with you somehow to see how your dinner was. If it was horrible, I have a couple days to find a new ADR! hahaha ::yes:::rotfl:::yes:::rotfl:

I thought, however, I would share a photo of my smiling face, just in case we cross paths!!

Nice to "meet" you!!! Please do stop and say hello if you see me! Which park days do we share if you don't mind me being nosey? I'm sure your TR would be great!!! Just take pictures of everything...people like pictures! :rotfl: :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

All caught up. . .I had gotten behind!! Yikes!! Your trip is coming up so soon! So excited for you all, and for you to get to leave in the morning instead of after work!! That's awesome!!

I LOVE AKL--it's such a beautiful resort!!

Welcome back!! Yes my trip is coming up soon!!! And it feels like it's going by soooooo slow!!! I hope we love it too.

Yep that is DH's birthday dinner!! He's very excited!

My kids have never been in a kids club at Disney but they have been to kids' clubs at other resorts we have gone to and have always loved it. I'll definitely let you know how they feel about this one!!

I hope you all have a great week too!!!

I thought I would stop by and say hi! I haven't had a chance to go back and read anything except for your introduction, but I'd love to follow along, if you don't mind. :)

Your boys are adorable!

And I loved the first few creations you posted... I'll have to go back and find more. :)

I am so excited for you that you get to stay at AKL... I'd love to stay there some day - but the girls don't seem to have any interest in that resort... Sigh.

Anyways... Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. :)

Of course you may follow along!!! I love lurking on your PTR's and TR's!!

Awww thanks for the compliment on the boys and the creations! The creations are usually easier to work with than the boys!

Have a great week!!!

How nice, a date night! Great plans for this day. My DH loved DisneyQuest! I didn't so much, but then I'm really not into arcade games so it's not fair for me to make an opinion! LOL

My "boys" (DH included) are excited about DQ. I, on the other hand, could care less but I'm along for the ride so it's off to DQ we go. It's the same with the water parks. I'm not a water park person and I could care less about it but DH really wants to go.

I'm popping in to say that I'm making park day changes again. ::yes:: Yep park day changes 30 days out. I should be on a Park Changers thread instead of Resort Changers. lol.... We also cancelled Teppan Edo after seeing pictures of the "full" plates. My DH is not a light eater and at $30 a plate he would be shocked at how little food he would get so......we will just eat somewhere else! We searched for a place that we were really interested in but couldn't seem to find any that we really really wanted this late in the planning so we are going to take a bus to POFQ and eat a homestyle dinner one day. YAY!!!! Actually this may happen a couple of days because last year he would request that.

Once I have the parks written down again and "finalized" I will let you know what we decided.

OH YEAH AND........

:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: ONLY 30 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

Last night I made DH sit down with me and actually PLAN our trip. He kept asking why we had to do all this and why couldn't I just plan it for us. I explained that this way he would get everything he wanted and boy am I glad he sat with me. Well I was until he tried to cancel my BOG reservation. Then I let him that since I got up at 5 a.m. WAY back in December to get that one that he was stuck with it. :rotfl:

So it took ALLLLLLL night but here's what I've got -

Well...I still haven't finalized my plans yet, but here's a "rough draft!" and a quick hijack of your PTR :rotfl2:

Sunday June 2 - Arrive at POP around 3pm (check-in and hope that our room is ready and in the 50s area!)
- MK for EMH once we get settled for our first Dole Whip of the trip!!

(originally this was going to be a no park day, but I booked a room in Atlanta on the way down, so we should be well rested and ready to RIDE!!!)

Monday June 3 - AK for morning EMH (I know...I'm crazy)
- Somewhere for lunch (haven't made the final decision yet!)
- Back to POP for rest/swimming
- MK again in the evening, late dinner at Casey's

Tuesday June 4 - DHS for RD (don't worry, I have a "no park day" to for a late morning worked in soon)
- 11am Lights! Motors! Action! Stunt show
- 12:45pm ADR at Sci-Fi
- Stay as late as we feel like, then head back to POP
- Possibly see Fantastmic!

Wednesday June 5 - No parks today!
- Sleep-in and have breakfast in the room (sleeping in for us is getting up at 8am…)
- Head out to DTD and try my hand at some shopping
- Lunch at WPE (dying to try it)
- Head back to POP for swimming and a visit to AoA
- Evening Resort hopping (we love doing that)
- Possibly dinner at Big River Grille (late dinner…we want to try the brews)

Thursday June 6 - EPCOT day!!! (Our FAVORITE park)
- Arrive for RD
- Ride..ride..ride
- 4:40pm ADR for Teppan Edo (I changed it…again…)
- Browsing in WS and Illuminations after

Friday June 7 - "Whatever we want to do!" Day
- We always miss stuff along the way, so I leave our last full day open for negotiation
- The DBF will likely want to hit EPCOT again if we missed ANYTHING (he's obsessed)
- Probably MK for the MSEP, Projection show, and Wishes!

Saturday June 8 - Departure Day :(
- We will probably just hang at the resort, rest, and leave right around check-in time
- If we decide to go to a park, it will probably be our favorite, Epcot!

Bold/red are days we share! Hope you don't mind my posting my whole itinerary...It was easier than picking out the common parts!!

Ok I was going to post about our reveal last night but it may have to be tomorrow. I hope you all have a great weekend!! 27 days left!!!!

I love your plan! That is what I am working on now. :) We have lunch planned at Flame Tree BBQ at AK as well. I've heard so many good things about it that we HAVE to try it.

TWO water park days AND a DQ day? WOW! You really are a sport since you aren't crazy about the thought of either. Can't wait to hear which water park you enjoyed most & which one the males in your group enjoyed most.
The rest of your plans sound good.
Obviously your DH does not understand the rarity of the BoG ADR! :rotfl2:

Something to look forward to the next reveal. :)

Oh my word. I had to share that story with my co-worker. He knows I've been talking about and counting down the days to my 180 mark just to get this reservation! He was almost as horrified as I was at the thought of cancelling! :rotfl:
Sounds like great plans! Busy enough but with some rests. :thumbsup2

I really like your plans... Such a bummer that you have to have 2 water park days, since you don't enjoy the water parks all that much...

But hooray for APs - and you get another trip back in Nov. :) That will be awesome!

So, did you keep BoG? I didn't see it on your plans anywhere...

D~

Hey maybe we could meet up at MK when you get your Dole Whip. I'll work on it as we get closer to the day. It freaks my DH out when I meet "strangers" but he may just have to deal with it. :lmao:

I love your plan! That is what I am working on now. :) We have lunch planned at Flame Tree BBQ at AK as well. I've heard so many good things about it that we HAVE to try it.

We like Flame Tree also but are actually thinking of changing that meal, only because we have never tried anywhere else at AK. Also, at Flame Tree none of eat the slaw or beans so we special order fries to go with our food and eating in the heat just doesn't appeal to us this trip. However, we will miss that view.

I hope we enjoy the water parks. We went to Great Wolf Lodge this past fall JUST for the water parks and in 3 days only spent about 3 hours in the water park altogether. We like lazy rivers, small slides and easy rides.....not the adventurous stuff. DH likes the adventurous stuff but no one rides with him. Poor guy!! I honestly can't see us spending more than 2-3 hours at each of those places on each day so it will be alright.

DH definitely does NOT appreciate the rarity of BOG. :thumbsup2

ROFL....horrified is a great word. Let's just say I sorta lost it on DH. He totally didn't see that coming but I let him have it. Safe to say we are NOT cancelling it now!

Yeah, I don't like wearing bathing suits in public period! lol.....We will have a good time I'm sure.

YES, I was able to keep our BOG reservation. I was not losing that one! ;)

This week's reveal was a little fun for DH and myself. It was completely DH's idea but ummm yes I did create the page to make it happen. Yes we are probably horrible parents but our family pranks each other a lot so this was our "chance".

First, we gave the boys this page to give them up to date info on the days we changed. Because of the craziness of this week, I was not able to add pictures to make it all pretty.

They read it all and got really excited about putt putt. Notice I didn't put the words pool or Splitsville on there anywhere because if I do DS10 will not enjoy any days until we get to the pool tables. I want to enjoy the beginning of our trip so I left it off.

Next we gave them "Day 5"......

DS10 read it in complete disbelief. DS6 looked at me and said, "But we haven't even gotten to Hollywood Studios or Epcot yet......We can't go home!!"

Before we had a complete meltdown on our hands, I answered, "You are so right and that's not really Day 5. Here is the REAL one!!"

They jumped up and down and cheered as we handed them this.....

They were excited that we will be going to two parks on the same day this trip. DS6 is sad that we may not see Fantasmic on this trip.

We also let them know that we would be staying until June 8. No more pranks from us. Please don't think we are evil. We just enjoy a good prank every now and then and as DS6 told us the next morning, "Ya'll got us good last night!!!"

Yeah, I don't like wearing bathing suits in public period! lol.....We will have a good time I'm sure.

I don't either, however - I don't know any woman that does, and they are probably all worrying about themselves to worry too much about how I look anyways. LOL And besides... you will probably never see a single one of those people again. :scratchin

Have you tried Lands End swimsuits yet? I am not the smallest girl ever, and neither are my ta-tas... They actually make real swimwear for real people and it doesn't look crappy on... I am acutally excited to wear mine this year. I know they carry them in Sears stores, I always try on there and order on line - they usually have an awesome code all the time. :thumbsup2

YES, I was able to keep our BOG reservation. I was not losing that one! ;)

Oh yay - I was going to cry for you if you gave it up. If only because it's so hard to get.

D~

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a few swim skirts that I love but I have a HORRIBLE self-image so.....yeah....I am so excited about BOG that I wasn't letting that one go. DH will enjoy it once we get there. It was on the night we wanted to put putt putt and pool but we found a night for those.

This is definitely a trip of new and different.

Sounds like a great idea!!! Just tell him that we are long lost friends from...a teacher conference...not strangers...:rotfl2: maybe he'll buy it?

Ever since we had one in January (even though, as I recall we had just had a little vacation drama a.k.a. a stupid argument), my DBF still talks about Dole Whips and how amazing they are!!! So...needless to say its the first item on the "must-do" agenda.:thumbsup2

You have only a few weeks to go!! How exciting. That's great that your boys had a memorable reveal of the plans! Sucking them into your fake out was great! It makes the relief and joy of the actual plan so much more enjoyable when you build on the drama!! ;)

I would love to try Splitsville! That sounds like a fun afternoon.

AKL's standard view at Jambo should have some views of the savanna. Either way, you'll see plenty of animals.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend Bridget!
