"We're following Dad to work....SURPRISE!!!" Secret's out Trip - May/June 2013

I feel like I should start a "Plan changers" thread like the resort changers thread as EVERY time I think I finally have everything settled into place, something happens (or someone changes their minds) and it all falls apart again!!! lol....

Today's changes include -

** losing two ADR's
** gaining one ADR
** adding a tour (you won't guess which one)
** eliminating the rest day
** Moving DQ to another day

Are we crazy??? :thumbsup2 You betcha!!!

Before I start telling you all about the changes, I wanted to share this cute story from this morning. DH was sitting on the couch watching a game on TV with his laptop on his lap. All of a sudden I hear someone announce something about May the 4th from his laptop and hear Star Wars music. It caught me by surprise. I asked, "Is that a Disney video?" He said, "Yeah, Joe (our friend) posted one on his facebook page." And the man sat there and watched the ENTIRE performance saying, "That was REALLY good." at the end. I think I'm in love!

So now, about those changes.....

This morning I noticed that Disney moved the Star Wars Weekend parade from 12:45 to 11 a.m. on the day of our Sci Fi ADR. Unfortunately, we can not wait until after the parade to eat so we lost our Sci Fi ADR. Since we have a different HS day, I tried to get a Sci Fi ADR on that day but nothing was open. I did, however, score a 50s Prime Time ADR which I hope we enjoy!

That's one ADR down and one ADR added.

THEN, I'm on FB and see that someone in our May group is at Daytona this morning riding in stock cars and touring the grounds. DH would LOVE that so I offered it to him for his birthday and he accepted. This means we have to give up our Disney Quest and Wofgang Puck Express day. Instead of just losing it I plan to move our Disney Quest day to June 5 and place it instead of sleeping late and eating at Big River Grille (another sit down). I do think that if we want to eat here during our trip we can always just head there anyways but it's not on the schedule.

Anyone else completely lost?? :rolleyes1 Stay tuned as it may all change again tomorrow!! popcorn::

In other news, we laid out all of our clothes today and made a list of what everyone needs which wasn't as much as I thought it would be. We are going clothes shopping this afternoon. Wish me luck...... and maybe pixiedust: too.

Only 19 days left!!!!

Ha! I can totally relate to the changes Bridget! I review the "plans" all the time and question whether switching lunch or dinner or a different time is better. I could drive myself crazy but fortunate for me I already am so it seems normal!!

That's funny that your DH is transforming into a Dis fan without recognizing the change! ;) What a wonderful b-day gift your giving him. :thumbsup2

I keep changing our plans all the time. My husband is about ready to kill me for it. Been clothes shopping for the last couple of months so we are good on that front. Starting to pack some of the stuff that we don't need right now. Right now we have 4 bags lol. I think I have went overboard oh well.

Wow! Race cars sound exciting. My DH & DS#1 would love that!!! I think that is an awesome gift!

Personally, I think Sci-Fi is over priced. IMO it is once and done. We've gone about 3 times....it has gotten old for us. We've don 50s Prime Time once. But, we got a disappointing waiter. But, have heard great things!

Love that your DH enjoyed the Star Wars show. That is soo cool he is all on board now!

Hope you had good luck with the shopping.

We will more than likely have a few more changes because well I'm kinda crazy like that! lol.....

Guess what??? Tonight we went to Lowe's to look for something with my in-laws and DH picks up something off the shelf and shows it to me.....

.....and says, "Mickey ears?" He is finding Mickey Ears out of products at our local stores. I think he has the fever BAD!!!

His birthday gift will be fun. I am in a FB group for everyone going to Disney in May and someone went there today. When they posted their pics, I knew it was something we had to do because he LOVES racing. He makes me drive to the speedways when we are close to them just so he can take pictures of the outside.

DH is ok with the changes as long as it's something he likes that we are changing to! We bought LOTS of clothes today!

I know he will love it! I don't think they "race" (or go all that fast) but he will get a tour of the entire place and be able to go behind the scenes for a few different areas. He will love it!!!

We've never been to either Sci Fi or 50s so either one is good with us. We plan to try the opposite one in November. I hope we get a great waiter.

He is definitely enjoying Disney a lot more recently! We had lots of luck with shopping today. Great deals and lots of clothes. I pretty much finished all of my clothes shopping in one day. Now I just need water shoes for everyone.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Wow, DH is even finding "hidden Mickeys" in the hardware store?! He does have it bad! :lmao:

LOL - Love the hidden Mickey!

Just stopping by to wish you a Happy Mother's Day! :)

D~

Happy Mother's Day to you Bridget!!! :lovestruc

Your husband has caught the Disney fever for sure!!

Woohoo! Only two weeks to go!
Wow! My DH would LOVE to get to Daytona, how wonderful that you guys get to see it. DH did the Richard Petty driving at the Disney track but some day he still wants to see Daytona.
Changes sound good to me! I hope you get lots of pictures of Star Wars Weekend, it always looks like such a fun time!

Thank you! Yes he definitely has the fever!! Actually HE is the reason we have to go back in November because he could not wait until next year to see Disney at Christmas. OR at least that's his excuse!

Just tuning in now. I have read everything and really enjoyed it. You're so creative!

Thanks for stopping by and :welcome:!! We are getting so close!! Aww that's a sweet compliment. I "steal" a lot of my ideas!

YES 2 weeks!!!! Daytona is "only" 1.5 hours or so from Disney so we figured we could fit it in. DH would love to do the Richard Petty thing and I'm sure one year we'll get around to it!

I'm just hoping we survive SWW!!! I hear it's brutal! Here's hoping for good weather and lots of pixiedust: for that day!

Wow.....hard to believe that two weeks from now we will be sleeping in a hotel somewhere between here and WDW on our way there!!!! :cool1: I'm so excited!!! :hyper: The kids are so excited!!! :yay: DH is cool as a cucumber. :upsidedow

Well in gross news, earlier this week I had a virus. I haven't had one since oh like maybe September or August of last year. I've been really healthy this year even with snotty first graders. But the whole time I was sick I kept thinking, "Better here than at Disney.....better here than at Disney.......better here than at Disney......" I have since lysoled the entire house in hopes that no one else gets sick.

In exciting weekend news, we have our mini get away this weekend to see the Houston Dynamo (pro soccer). I was able to score a GORGEOUS 4 star hotel in Houston through Priceline so that we have a full weekend!! The boys are going to love it. We are going with DS10's soccer team and they are going to be on the field making a tunnel for the Dynamo to run through. He knows we are staying at a hotel but I haven't revealed anything about it to him yet so he likely thinks it's just a plain ole normal hotel. I can't wait to see his face. Sunday on our way home we will detour to the beach and let him pick a place to eat his birthday lunch since his birthday is next Wednesday. My baby will be 11!!!

Next Friday I get to schedule my ADR's for our November trip!!! I think I know which ones I want and I hope we can get them all. We went a little wild on ADR's for that trip because we want it to be relaxing and we have already paid for our rooms and our AP's for that trip so there is no other expense to save for. We will be there for 9 days (10 if I get my way) and we have 8 ADR's so far. DH even picked some out. I don't care for his but I respect that he has his own ideas and I'm going to try them out! Be Our Guest is at the end of that trip so I'm hoping that I can get it with our 180+10 booking!

Lastly, tonight was a reveal night. DS10 was sick with a migraine and had to go to bed early. After letting him sleep a couple of hours, I just woke him up to take a bath and even all confused he says, "WAIT MOM!!! We need to read our reveal!"

Here's the reveal -

Love the background on this one!

They weren't really excited about this day. I think it's because they are nervous when there are unknowns. DS6 was excited about Be Our Guest meal. I'm glad someone else is! :scared: lol....maybe now it isn't on the chopping block!

I am slightly disappointed that I haven't been able to make any custom shirts for this trip. I don't think I will get any finished before we leave but I will have all summer to make some for our November trip. Life is just really crazy this year. Ah well, we will be at Disney even if the kids aren't in matching clothes. :thumbsup2

OH YEAH, I received a work e-mail late last week or early this week (they all kind of run together) that listed summer conference dates of MANDATORY meetings for us. Yes, you guessed it.......June 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11.........Well shucks....mandatory???? How do you balance a non-refundable trip with a mandatory conference? You don't! Luckily pixiedust: my boss knew about my Disney trip from the day I booked it way back when so when I showed up in her office with all the details, she says, "oh yeah that's not mandatory for you....." Thank you, pixiedust:!!!!

Gah!! I was way behind!! I have been going through DIS withdrawals...finally had a little downtime to get caught up!! :faint:

WoW about all the changes!! Its ok...I'm with you! I have changed our days like...15 times since I started planning this trip. :rotfl::thumbsup2

Isn't it funny how teachers always end up having "mandatory meetings" after schools out?! Good thing they are letting you out of it though! :cheer2:

Can't wait to read more!

Not sure how I originally missed this. But, here I am now.

I love the background too. It almost looks like snow flakes, which is cool since it is the Blizzard Beach reveal. I bet this day is going to be one of the favorites after the trip!

Don't forget to look for the rose in the west wing of BoG.

I'm sorry your little one suffers with migraines. Not fun for an adult, can not imagine for a young one like him. Not fair. poor guy.

So, so so happy you don't have to worry about those stupid meetings. That sort of thing should be built into a teachers year calendar if they are going to pull that stuff on you....mandatory...geesh.

You all must be out of your skin excited at this point. .......except for your DH that is. hahaha Who does he think he is kidding. He is probably more excited than the rest of you, just he's a guy he can't show all that giddy stuff. :thumbsup2

Love your plans for this day... and your page is great! We are doing BB for the first time this trip too, we are very excited for it.

Happy you don't have to go to the mandatory conference. Disney is way more fun anyways. :)

I think my days are set now and we really like them!! Yes thankfully I don't have to go to those crazy meetings!!

YES we are out of our skin with excitement!!! NINE days left!!! Single digit dance!!!!

:cool1: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :cool1:

I think everyone missed this post but it's o.k. because we were all so busy!!

And as for the mandatory meetings, I agree. The other teachers have two work days next week after I leave. I don't know why they don't just do all the meetings then. :confused3

I would promise to tell you about every ride at BB but we are not brave so I may be able to tell you about just the lazy river. :rotfl:

Nope no mandatory conferences for me! :dance3: Thankfully I have a boss who fully understands my Disney obsession.

Work has been awful this week. The kids have to come to school until Wednesday at lunch but my boss is really having a hard time with me leaving so she is PILING on the end of school year work for me. She's also already mentioned that I may have to work REALLY late Wednesday night in order to take off Thursday and Friday which isn't fair because my side of the work is done. I'm having to wait on other people to do their jobs so I can close out my stuff.

And of course, I'm having to switch rooms this summer which means I have to pull everything off of my walls and box up EVERYTHING in my room AGAIN all before I leave!!!!! :rolleyes2

But like I told my husband today, "Bring it on.....in six days I leave for Disney!!!"

I really need to start packing. I pulled out suitcases tonight and will hopefully fill them up this weekend.

I'm so ready to leave that I am giddy!!! pixiedust: :joker:

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: 6 days....6 dancing bananas! Hang in there at work. Whistle while you work. Before you know it you all will be :drive: to WDW!!! Hope it ends up not being a late night for you Wednesday. That is not fair.

Have a nice weekend.

Oh yeah and in all the craziness I called to make our November ADR's today except that we leave 180 days from today and get to Disney 181 days from today.....yep I get to get up early tomorrow and try it all again. I couldn't understand why NOTHING was working!
