"We're booked!!" Post your 2008 room rates here!

We've had APs for the last year, and just bought new APs last week, so we won't be switching to a package, although we could do that and just get a 1-day park ticket and put it away and save it for another time, or give it to our DSs to use since they don't have APs. We plan on purchasing park hoppers for them for this trip.

We have done the Dining Plan and concierge on one trip before, and we personally felt it was a LOT of food. But back then the plan included the appetizer too, so we thought the DDP alone was too much food, let alone the concierge food offerings too. lol However, I wouldn't rule out doing both again on a future trip, if the package suited our needs at the time. :)

In the past I've heard from IPO fairly soon after booking our trip; I just booked today and the trip is still 9 1/2 months away, so I'm curious to see whether they contact us right away or not. If they don't, I'll wait until the fall and then send them an email, to at least establish communication, well before we'll need them to book ADRs and tours for us.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I may have a hard time with a AAA rate on GVC since you were not able to get it the week before. We are still debating doing the dining plan. I think I could save a little money paying cash, it just may be worth it to not have to worry about what we choose to eat.

I just booked WL woods view for six nights Jan 20th-26th. Total cost with tax AAA rate $1453.00.
A little more than I wanted to spend but I was told there were no standard rooms available with AAA discount.

I can't figure out why they had the lagoon concierge available with AAA discount, but not garden concierge. :confused3 LOL The lagoon room is ours, the garden room is DH's aunt's, so I feel a little bad that I wasn't able to get the discount for her. But hopefully some AP rates will come out.

I've been reading a few threads about the revisions to the DDP, and it seems that a lot of people are rethinking it. I think it can still be a good deal, as long as you know what you'd be spending without it, VS with it. :)

Hi SeaSpray! We did the Poly LVC with dining the same week that you did! We met at check-in.

I completely agree that dining plan with concierge lounge was waaaaaaaaayy too much food. Even my husband, who is basically a bottomless pit, hit the wall with his appetite about two days into the trip. He loved the lounge food and felt he could have easily lived on it alone for the whole trip.

Ok - so clue me in on this whole Lounge/concierge and Dining plan too much food- thing. If you are in the Concierge/Lounge leval, you get "free" food in the reception area right? What types are food are they providing? When was it available - certain times of teh day or all day? And you feel that this could have suplements a regular meal, compared to appetizers and munchies and such? SOrry for rambling - just trying to get it straight and see wehre you are coming from - I am all for cutting corners AND having teh best of both worlds so to speak!

When I made my AAA room-only ressie today, the CM asked for my membership number. I find that they are very inconsistent with it.

As far as how long you have to be a member of AAA to get the discount, you could definitely call today to become a member by charging the membership fee over the phone. Then ask for your membership number and call Disney right then! It is so great!

Is there a certain level or status membership you should have or have to have to get the AAA discount? I am on the AAA website now and see that they have Classic, Membership PLUS and a Membership PREMIER... What does everyone have outthere in Ressie world abd didyou all getthe same discount regardless of your membership status?? Thanks so much - time for bed and to have all these numbers, reservations and overall WDW scenarios running through my brain!!?? :cloud9:  See you in the AM!! :surfweb:

Alright so now I'm really thinking about joining AAA.

But what I would like to know is what is IPO??
Thanks

I must say I'm a bit disconcerted - everyone else's increases seem to be quite acceptable. Ours was extraordinary! 2 bedroom villa at WL February 10-16. Old price: 3982.50. New price: 4882.50. That's an increase of 22%. 2007 room rate for the weekend: 590. 2008 rate for the weekend 950.

Obviously we're thinking about changing our reservation. Why did ours get jacked up so much?

Probably because it is Presidents Weekend and they adjusted the price reflecting a busier time.

Hi,

I have just changed my room only to a package 6 nights CR garden view(no standard room left in Jan at all!!) with 7 day park hopper $3289.

I can't get AAA discount as I am another Aussie (I tried) so I just have to wait and hope for a code
:sad2:

Some how my kids have convinced me to change from POP to CR:eek:

Now I just have to pretend to hubby it's not costing to much, (what's another $1000 or 2):rolleyes1

I am so excited now it is booked and confirmed,:cheer2:

You just need the basic membership. I remember when we booked our first Poly trip about 4 years ago. I decided to join AAA, I think it was about $43 at the time, just to see what kind of discount I'd get. It saved us something like $400.

All the above listed food is included with the consierege status at the resort?!!WOW I can see why that would be alot of food with the dining plan - I can see why one would go one way or the other -PRO: no dining plan and eat at POLY for those nights, you've already paid for it in your room rate...the CON being that you are only limited to food only there, no where else. Do they do the same/similar at CR and GF?

I guess this would be worth it if you were to go back to the room everyday with the kids for naps. ANd for breakfasts as well if you weren't big on big sit down breakfasts.... Then al you would have to pay for are the dinners you opted to go out for. popcorn::

DH would be happy with just the BEER!! :rotfl:

I will be joinging today for sure!! Will I get my member# if I were to sign up online or would I have to wait for it to come in the mail? Maybe I should call to enroll to be sure!? :woohoo:

I priced a AAA rate for the Poly...June 6-14th and they quoted my the exact same price as CRO. The lady at AAA told me, you only get the discount on a room only rate. We've always booked through CRO, so I have no clue about a AAA rate.

You will get a membership # when you enroll online. You will also be able to print out a temporary card to use until you get your permanent card in the mail.

Booked my package through AAA just now. Jan 1-7 at POP, six day base tickets and DDP for $1618.98. It would have been $1730.22 through Disney. I saved 111.24! :thumbsup2 That represents 22.5% off my $82 room rate! :yay:

Now I'm crossing my fingers that all those resturants that I have ADRs for show back up on the DDP list.

Do I have to book through AAA Vacations or will Disney give the AAA discount as well if I book through Disney itself?? Will the price reflect only if I book rooms only or in a package as well? I am new to how AAA works and all the (conditional) benefits that it offers. Help please!!?? Maybe I will post this as its own thread as well....:surfweb:

You can only get the AAA discount on a room only if you book through Disney. In order to get a package, you have to book directly through AAA. I just booked throught AAA for the first time and saved $360!

Does anyone know if I'll still receive all the little perks that Disney sends out, like the luggage tags or the sea racer voucher? Also, WDW sends me a little brochure on my resort, will I still get that?

Thanks guys!

Is anyone else having problems booking a trip today?? I keep getting system down :confused3

Yes, me too. I've tried calling a few times over the last 3 hrs and have been told system is down for "enhancements". The rates are finally out & I still can't book my package :confused3
