Seaspray-thanks for posting this info.

Looks like we will miss each other by one day.

I am going to book GVC starting May 24 for 7 nights. In the past I have either done a AAA room only or AP rate through disney. Have you been able to switch to AP rate in the past during May? I am considering doing a package with AAA this time. Have you ever done that? Do you think the dining plan and conceirge is too much? Can you tell me how long after booking does IPO contact you? SOrry for all of the questions..You are the Poly Queen after all!!!Lol
Oh bummer that we'll miss each other by one day! LOL Anyway, in the past I've always booked the AAA discount right away (as long as it was available), and then change to AP discount once they come out. And I'm fairly certain that this has applied to at least some of our May trips, too.
We've had APs for the last year, and just bought new APs last week, so we won't be switching to a package, although we could do that and just get a 1-day park ticket and put it away and save it for another time, or give it to our DSs to use since they don't have APs. We plan on purchasing park hoppers for them for this trip.
We have done the Dining Plan and concierge on one trip before, and we personally felt it was a LOT of food. But back then the plan included the appetizer too, so we thought the
DDP alone was too much food, let alone the concierge food offerings too. lol However, I wouldn't rule out doing both again on a future trip, if the package suited our needs at the time.
In the past I've heard from IPO fairly soon after booking our trip; I just booked today and the trip is still 9 1/2 months away, so I'm curious to see whether they contact us right away or not. If they don't, I'll wait until the fall and then send them an email, to at least establish communication, well before we'll need them to book ADRs and tours for us.

Is there a certain amount of time that you have to be a member of AAA in order to get the discount at WDW?? Like a year, a month, 3 years whatever?? DH and I have talked about joining AAA and it would be great if we could get the AAA room discount upon us joining. We are planning a march or april 08 vacation.....

Thanks so much!
I think you could probably buy your AAA membership and immediately call Disney and give them the number to get the discount on a room. That's all they need, just your membership number. It doesn't matter how long you've been a member for
