Wow, what a bunch of mothy YaYas.

Todd, I was only implying that if Amanda was angry enough to borrow a chainsaw to chase you with, you had better do what she wanted - which was shop for y'all first.

As far as using one of those beasts..I'm a pilot (pile-it) not a cut-it

Yay for Jarrod's assembly. Mrs. AA and I have both been Lions in the past and I think it's a great organization.

Moving through..hi y'all...bye y'all

I will be off to pack and travel tomorrow.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I appreciate knowing all of y'all ::yes::

God Bless

Alan--it wasn't anything you said, it was some of the neighbors comments.
Have a safe trip!

Lily-- :wave2:

Betty-- :wave2:

kimmar-- :wave2:

Alan...I now know why Todd didn't want to go to the neighbor's to ask for help. This neighbor is really great, but doesn't realize he can say things that hurt. An example is he always tells me how great Todd is with the girls, but that I am never playing with my girls. I always tell him it is because I do all the work:rotfl:

Mandy brought her homework home for next week and is driving me crazy. The most frustrating part is when a worksheet needs completed, but I have no idea how to complete it....maybe I should bring it for Tara to look at. :cool1: Mandy is determined to finish it all tonight. :surfweb:

I found the long lost SP :Pinkbounc just in time for our trip.

I really should be making pie crust, but still not feeling up to it. Tomorrow, always tomorrow.

Not even packed yet! Did hit the liquor store for some travel bottles so i don't ahve to pay resort prices for a night cap by the pool!! hehehe

1/2 day work tomorrow, hair cut, and then packing...

hugs to all!
tara

Morning!

Woke up with a headache. Hope the Aleve kicks in fast. :rolleyes1
No nephew today. Going to get my nails done, then I need to hit GFS and pick up some stuff for a dinner we are doing at church tonight for the community.

Amanda, yay for the found SP!!

Alan, safe travels. :)

Tara, get packing girl!!! At least you have the important stuff bought now. ;) :teeth:

:car:

Drive-by posting......

Paper should be back from the printers today, that's why I've been MIA. Invoices are done and mailed!

DS got the UPS shipping labels done!

DD made it home from college last night!

DS and DH are out bear hunting!

Gunny let me sleep in this morning!

House is a pig sty and I still have lots of work to do!

Rose Mary - TURKEY HOT ROD???? Oh - the images of turkeys behind the wheel, ala The Fast and Furious!! :rotfl2:

Love the Santa and your daughter photo, Alan!

Have fun Tara!! So - are you taking Goldie to WDW??????? ;)

:wave2: Paula!! Hope things are little :sunny: for you. I loved Chris' photos!

BETTY-SKETTY!! :Pinkbounc    What college is your DD going to that she gets 6 weeks off? DD has to be back to school by Monday.

Suzanne - I know exactly what you mean about doing the :woohoo: on good health coverage! Trust me, if we ever get a policy that's actually worth the $573.00 a month we pay inpremiums, I will be streaking the neighborhood in jubilation!! :smokin:

Amanda, I am almost done with shopping, since Todd can't help others shop, will you send him over to wrap?? ;) I hate to wrap. And I can bearly climb into bed at night because I have bags and bags piled everywhere.

We got DS the 53" Leg Lamp from the Christmas Story movie! :teeth: He has been saying for a couple of years that he needs one for his dorm room next year. I think he'll really be surprised. The company wanted $195.00 just for the crate -- so my Dad is making one!

kimmar - cranberry sauce is a start..... :rolleyes1

Lily - we've done the caring tree in the past. A lot of fun to shop. This year we are doing care packages for soldiers in Iraq and also the Marines Toys for Tots.

Sherry - Hope the headache is soon banished.

Elaine - a  for you as well. I have thinking of you a lot these past couple of days.

Liz, been thinking of you, too. How are you and Greg doing? :grouphug:

Good morning....

Well we survived the parent teacher conferences....All of Chris teachers were very nice - each one noted that he was curteous and respectful - never a behavior problem and an all around nice kid - they all shared our frustrating saying how very smart he was - and agreed to keep at him and hang in there in hopes that he will turn around. We did however find out that he is skipping more classes than we knew and the teachers have agreed to notify us every time he misses a class - Jeffrey told him last night that every time we get notice that he has missed a class he loses his car for the day.So all in all I came home just feeling a bit sad.

Watched "Over the Hedge" last night -that was really cute.

Making stuffing and desserts today - I decided on chocolate cream pie and cranberry bread. Need to make a quick trip to the market and maybe will get in Chinese for lunch with Alyssa.

Doubt that I will be back posting again today - I'll be around Friday - no shopping for me...

So my friends - I wish you all safe travels - good times and many Thanksgiving blessings....you all mean the world to me!!!!!!

Morning!

About to go pick up our ham and a few things that I'd mentioned earlier. I wanted to buy placemats at the new job, but I can't until I get my discount sticker-so off to Chez Target.

The boys have shared their cold with me, isn't that nice?

Tara, safe travels. Yeah, I'd buy my liquor off site before heading in, too. Southern Comfort and some White Zinfandel, lol. We needed a cocktail after some days with Neil. :teeth:

Kimmar, nice bathroom-though I'm also of the mind that there will be too much dusting! So, serving a huge bowl of cranberries to everyone?

Sherry, yay for sleeping in, boo for the headache!

Amanda, congrats on finding the ever important SP. I don't think we can travel without those.

Bettysketti, Enjoy the time with the kids home!

Todd, so Amanda learned how lovely the neighbor can be, eh?

AA, where I grew up, the Lions did TONS of charitible giving. Very cool, IMO.

RM, how can they feed you turkey and NOT expect the whole staff to take a nap? If they wanna wake people up, they just need to feed them tuna, lol.

Lily, how neat on the giving tree. Ed saw your Goofy siggy and asked about it. When I explained '10 minute mile' he realizes that leaves him out. Not with the ligament damage he's done to the knees in the past few years. But he was quite impressed, so :worship: to you!

Paula, :grouphug: Thinking about you and hoping it didn't go as bad yesterday as you thought it might.

Bethie, so, how busy are ya right now? Is your place typical retail where Friday is crazy? We don't do ANY black friday specials-what's on sale has been on sale. Now the day after Christmas? There will be a long line waiting to get in! (If I close, I may end up in that long line!)

First day went really well. First guest I helped bought 500 bucks worth of merchandise. Boy, that was fun-getting different things together so she could visualize how they'd look. She thanked me for helping her and I thanked HER for letting me play. Boss took me out to lunch at this very cool restaurant that's known for the wine selection. We're both very into wines, so it was hard going and not having any. Food was great, so I'm definitely going back!

Then I went back to old job to make my Thanksgiving sides. I walked in early, so the first group was still working on their meals. It was ALL regulars! About half knew I'd left, and I had to explain to the rest (got quite a few hugs). The session I scheduled into started and it was again all regulars. I ended up helping one of the nicest ladies I've ever known do her stuff. She's kinda slow making things, but so funny that we loved when she'd be in the kitchen.

It already feels different. I suppose spending a day at the new job, where I felt like I'd been there for ages, really helped. Some guy walked in to get something and immediately walked up to me (making a meal) and wanted to know why he couldn't get his order yesterday. Former coworkers were :rotfl2: because I didn't have a nametag or the special colored apron, but I have 'the look'.

They also got to see me dressed up-and in the new clothes, the weight loss is very noticible!

So, I'm doing pretty good. Now that the first day is under my belt, it's not such a bad thing to have left the old job.

Eek, better get going before there's a huge line at Honeybaked Ham!

Suzanne

Pammy and Paula sneated!

Pam, that is too funny that he's going to show up at college with the leg lamp-instant respect for the young man! :rotfl: Yeah, the money we pay and don't make a claim is ridiculous. I can get used to 25 buck copays again. We celebrated by buying a case of wine from our wine lady, lol.

Paula, I think the strategy of ditching = no car is an effective one. Think you can have a wonton soup for me?

Gotta jet!

:lmao: :lmao: You better get on it!! hehehe Sounds like my dad's mother except she was an alcoholic and one time she invited 20 or so people over and she fixed one box of hamburger helper :lmao: (My grandfather, who was the president of the company, was mortified...prior to this she had been one to throw extremely lavish dinner parties where she cooked all the food and was a great hostess)

Pam...no Goldie is nto going :( Jay said that a good parent would pay for the girlfriend to go...so we said...good you're his parent too you can pay for it! :teeth: there was a looooooooooonnnnnnnggggggg pause...and I pointed out that HE is ALSO Jarrod's dad...I didn't do this kid alone!! :lmao:

Paula...I'm sorry that your parent teacher conference was sad. Hopefully the thought of losing his car would be enough to keep him in class.

Suzanne...glad your first day went well. I will call you the first of the week to see if you will be in my neck of the woods. My cell number is the same. ACK I just realized I don't have your number...can you pm me the number or if you dont' get the chance to do that...give me a call after Thanksgiving!!

And just so no one thinks that we are lushes...we are not planning to be soused during the trip...just a calming drink in the evening after we have drugged the kids :teeth: Well, Jar gets melatonin at night so he is "drugged"!

I am sooooo ready to leave. Everything is done here at school and nothing is done at home. So I probably won't be getting to bed too early tonight! Besides I'll be "too excited to sleep"

back later!
tara

Hi Ya Yas!

There are some really good ketchup posts I've read. Thanks, the pressure is off me for sure.

Pam, great drive by there!

Suzanne, whatapost!

Tara, lol about the dinner party fare. Have a great trip.

Suzanne, well I guess if you are going to feel bad you should have it all at once to get it over with so the resto f the itme is much better. Hope that leg is less bothersome andyour cold doesn't get the better of you. You seem to have been enjoying some good experiences. Hope they continue. I almost forgot, congrats on the new size you got to. Way to go!

Paula, sorry about the struggle. I think the car idea is a great one. We used the idea of school being their "job" and they would get "paid" if they performed and that had to be through to graduation.. Pay = car privileges. They really liked driving to school, work and about so that really turned into a motivator. Hope it works for you. My youngest got the message real fast when he found he had to get his own way to work one spell. Good luck with it all. Stay strong. Mmm on the desserts.

Amanda, hope you are better today.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Ya Yas! I am thankful for you all.

Hi....The Thanksgiving tradition starts again. My dishwasher is backed up. My brother just came the other day and 'fixed' it, but it has happened again. Seems that either the dishwasher or garage disposal does this every Thanksgiving.

Well....hashbrown casserole is together, broccoli casserole is almost. Choc Chip cookies and Choc Chip Pumpkin Cookies are done. Still have more to go. All the pies, deviled eggs and appetizers still need to get done. The good part is that my apple peeler from Pampered Chef showed up at my door today....the apple pie will get made a lot faster.

Suzanne...I interact with our neighbors the most, so I know what to expect and just let it roll off my back. I just sent cookies over to the neighbor that helped Todd :rolleyes1

Tara...Todd and the girls worked on packing while I dropped of our van and took a walk. I will still have to inspect the items.

Gotta get back to cooking.

Morning all! Lazy slug here, Dave turned off the phone in the bedroom and closed the door when he left for work so I could sleep in. What a treat! I deserved it since I singlehandedly unpacked and sorted the entire shipment we received at the store yesterday--61 boxes worth! And I restocked the adhesive aisle, which nobody seems willing to do. Came home hurting a bit, so Dave let me sit and let the ibuprofen kick in while he fixed dinner. Then we went to the dinner fixin' place for our November session and prepared our 12 entrees (which makes 24 meals for the 2 of us, some with leftovers for lunch!). Suzanne, you may not work there anymore, but I can never thank you enough for hooking us up with that place!!

Hiya, Pammie!! Nice to see you drop in again!! WTG on gettin' the paper and invoices all done so you can enjoy T-giving. If the guys have gone bear hunting, does that mean they already got the turkey? Or are you planning to have bear tomorrow? When I lived in Alaska, I found out that spring black bear is really quite tasty! We used to eat it in stroganoff, stew, burgers, and my favorite....Bear Balls!! Of course, when people would see that on the menu I kept posted on my 'fridge, they would turn slightly green, thinking we were actually eating the bear's you-know-what! :rotfl: So funny to see the relief flood their faces when I would explain that it was just meatballs.

kimmar, I'm heading to the grocery in a few, too. Got everything for tomorrow's dinner, but I've run out of a few staples and laundry soap! Sheesh!! It's gonna be a zoo..........

Paula, glad to hear the conference yesterday wasn't all bad. I think losing his car priviledges is an appropriate consequence for skipping, too. It sounds almost like Chris is just plain bored with academics and isn't being challenged with anything that piques his interest. It's too bad he's got that attitude that vocational ed is for the dummies. I bet he could really get into learning more about surveying, like he did last summer, or forestry or carpentry or auto mechanics or even construction. It's that "instant gratification" factor of seeing tangible results of his efforts that turned my DS around. Now he's a certified arborist (tree surgeon) and loves his work. He even took classes and an exam to get that certification all on his own! So, hang in there, mom, it may take awhile for Chris to find himself, but there IS hope.

Suzanne, glad to hear your first day at the new job was such a success! A $500 first sale is not too shabby at all!! Sooooooo glad the insurance is gonna work out for ya, now. :rotfl: on the guest who wanted his order yesterday. Actually, kinda cool that you exude that "I'm in charge" aura!! And to answer your question about "my" store and Friday--no, we aren't really typical retail. Last year, corporate decreed extra hours and extra staff, but we were actually very slow. I think the people who were still in town were busy shopping the Black Friday sales elsewhere. This year, we are keeping regular hours, but corporate scheduled a 12-hour crop, noon to midnite, on Friday. :rotfl2: We aren't even 1/2 full--a full crop is 32 customers and we have only sold 13 spots!! Even the regular crop on Saturday night only has 5 people signed up so far.

Your redecorated powder room is beautiful, kimmar!! I especially like the weathered wood--is that wallpaper or distressed paneling? And a can of pressurized air will take care of the dusting for ya, no problem!

Sherry, I woke up with the headache, too! Don't know what's up with that, since I haven't missed my allergy meds in awhile. Hope the Alleve helped ya, it only works on my back. Got a little pampering for yourself at the nail salon, eh?! Atta girl, you deserve it!!

Tara, what do you need to pack for WDW? A box of pampers for Ethan and a few changes of undies for everyone else. Stuff your extra shoes with those little bottles and you're all set!! Have a wonderful trip, girlfriend! Sorry you weren't able to get LTT for T-giving, but CP is a marvelous back-up, IMO. Give my love to Pooh!!

Amanda, hope to hear you are feeling better today. I'm sure you are working feverishly, getting food and house ready for your big dinner tomorrow. Don't overwork yourself, take a breather now and then, and let the girls help. I remember polishing silver, folding napkins, and setting the table when I was only 5. Basically, the only things mom wouldn't let me do at that age involved knives or the stove. I also remember whipping cream from scratch with the stand mixer when I was about 8. I let it go too long and we ended up with real butter for the rolls!!

Have a safe and wonderful trip, Alan!!

Don't worry about ketchupping, Betty. Just enjoy having the whole family home together again. You know it won't happen that often anymore, so relish every minute of it!

I'd better get moving or there will be no pumpkin pie left at the store. I just hope there's no line at the gas station. I know....fat chance. Catch ya'll later, then! :grouphug:

ACK!! I just realized I didn't respond to Amanda and Todd from yesterday...

Todd...a partner for EE sounds like a plan!! I'm up for it!

amanda...feel free to bring the homework and I will be more than happy to help!! Glad your apple peeler arrived in time for the pie!!!

Kids are playing on fun brain, my assistant is looking at political websites and here I sit dising!!

Beth...my mouth dropped to the floor at the kinds of bear things you eat :rotfl: I was very glad you clarified!! ewww!!

Yep the important stuff is ready to be put in the suitcase...money, cameras, beverages, and snacks for the kids! We should be good to go!! :rotfl:

Over half of my students were out today and then 3 more left early. Easy day here!!!

oaky, back to work for me ;)

Back from getting my nails done, running to the bank, and getting some last minute stuff done. Sheesh! The stores are packed. :rolleyes1

Amanda, glad the apple peeler got there in time. Hope you can find some time to relax somewhere tonight or tomorrow. Junior made his pumpkin cheesecakes last night. ;)

Tara, safe travels to you. Give Tigger a hug from me. :)

Pam, omg, that is so funny that you got the CS lamp for DS. :lmao: FRAGILE!! :lmao: He'll be a hit at college.

Betty, enjoy having your kids home for the holidays. :)

Suzanne, glad the first day went well for you. And :yay: on the weight loss!!

Beth, headache is gone. Hope yours is, too. Bear balls.....glad you explained that....I was about to gag!! :faint: :teeth:

Kimmar, cranberry sauce? Girl, you betta get a shopping!!!!

Hi Lily! Glad to see you popping in more often. :)

Paula, I think the no car thing is a good idea, also. Hopefully that will motivate him.

Gotta pick up the boys in a bit, take nephew & BIL to the hair place to get nephew's hair cut (SIL has the car at work and they live around the corner), run to Big Lots, and eat a quick early dinner so we can go to church tonight. We are feeding the community Thanksgiving dinner. :)

In case I don't get on tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving Ya Ya's. I'm thankful for each and every one of you. :)
