Morning, all.

Got two days off here, but I'm going to be low key. I think we're painting the office, so the stuff can be moved out of the dining room. Not that it will be a dining room ever. We have a breakfast nook for that!

Okay, heart failure is over. IL's were supposed to get off the cruise yesterday. We've tried calling them since 3pm yesterday, with no one answering the home or cell phones. They JUST called back. Phew. Although you have to wonder-we called the house phone at least 5 times-they said they were 'too out of it' to answer! Grrrr.

Yay, Lainey brought sunshine to NJ! :cool1:

Sherry, OUCH! Hope it stops hurting soon.

Wow, a weekend appearance by AA. Congrats on 7000!

Tara, my condolences on doing all those IEPs. I know how much work goes into Neil's, so my hat's off to you. Last time, they did a prelim and we wrote the IEP in committee. Laptop linked to a projection screen so we could all add our input. At least, we have the same facilitator all through the system, so his middle school IEPs will probably be done this way, too.

Kimmar, that was really gross! Ewwww. Do you have those in the house, hence the thread on cleaning shortcuts? :rotfl:

Bethie, Sounds like a yummy dinner! ;) Does your company shorten the hours on Labor Day? I hated that about the mall-we'd be open until 9 (except July 4th) and the place would be a ghost town after 5. At least, you're not in the mall.

Gotta get a shower. The ILs who are plucking our nerves need us to move all the yard stuff out of their family room. Instead of going later, I want to go now and get back and paint. Ed's fuming, so it's not a good idea to send him by himself. I'm not thrilled, either. How difficult is it to answer a phone?

Suzanne

good evening gang. I've been painting today! We got the kitchen painted all except for the part behind the fridge on blocks. I'm gonna do that after dinner tonight (take out since the kitchen is still wet). I'll post some pictures later. We really like this color. Mom and I did the first coat together and then I laid down and fell asleep and she did the second coat.

Hope everyone is having a great day today!!

hugs,
tara

Hi all!

Suzanne's weekend, a story with pictures:

1. Suzanne goes to the kitchen store that just opened in her shopping center. The grand opening special this weekend is 20% off barware. Suzanne buys the pretty wine rack she's been eyeing. See?

2. Suzanne decides she is tired of looking at six gallons of paint for various rooms and a crowded dining room (a/k/a future Mary Poppins room) and decides to paint the office. We'd color matched a green in Kevin's tiki comforter, but Ed and I wanted a much paler green. Earlier in the week, we bought a gallon of pastel base to lighten it. This is what it turns out to be after mixing a gallon of green with a gallon of white:

Now, I love the DIS, but not enough to paint a room lime green.

3. This drives me back to the pretty wine rack-something missing?

So much for painting tonight and moving the stuff tomorrow.

Suzanne

:lmao: :lmao: Lily and Suzanne!!!!

Yes Lily that's what we called it!!! And if we had a sore finger we called it a speech impediment!!

Suzanne...I think I should have been painting at your house!!

Kitchen is done. Now touch ups and touching up the touch ups and then putting it all back together and we'll be done!! (except for the wood and curtains!!)

going to bed and then going to the zoo with my db, dsil, and dn!! So I should see you all tomorrow evening!!

welcome!! I just posted on your breastfeeding thread!!

I just saw the news about Steve Irwin  I can't believe it! Jarrod is going to be devasted. Last week news that his dad's dog died and now Steve. He's going to be a mess. I'm hoping that he hears about it any place but from me!

good night gang!

Good morning Ya Yas!

Hi Teresa! Welcome.

Suzanne, I think I'd be enjoying your new find after the painting experiment.

Tara, have fun today at the zoo. You had a late night!

We ended up going to the Geauga County Fair yesterday. We went with the neighbors, had a good time and walked lots! Today is neighbors picnic. Maybe squeeze in a walk and take my Mom to a wake if she wants to go.

Have a great day all!

...talk about a 'freak accident'....what a shame.....my prayers go out to his family....

Good morning, Ya Ya family! Happy Labor Day!! Not quite sure what we're going to do with our day off, but we both managed to sleep in again. What a luxury!!

Hi, Teresa!! Welcome to Ya Ya Central!!

kimmar, I have to agree, the pic of the slugs was truly gross. It DID have a bit of a redeeming quality, though--I'd never seen kissing slugs before! That was sweet

Tara spent yesterday painting and today will be the zoo. So, I guess the IEPs got bumped on the priority list, huh?! I think I would have probably done the same thing. After all, all work and no play makes for a VERY dull Ya Ya. Have a great time today!!

:lmao: "laryngitis of the fingers" and "speech impediment" :lmao:

Love the wine rack, Suzanne!! And I'm inclined to agree on the paint--that would definitely be a case of "a little is good"...but a lot is painful!

Yeah, I heard about Steve Irwin. So very, very sad. He was such fun to watch. I'm sure, though, that he would have rather go in that manner than some protracted illness or disabling injury.

'Bout time to hit the shower and see what kind of activity we can come up with for today. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :grouphug:

....."Slugs in Love".....

Love the dog!!!

Lily...was a late night and an early morning...I'm ready to go back to bed!!!

Kimmar...thank you for not having any slug pictures this morning...or maybe I should thank Beth for not mentioning them!! As for center pieces....I usually have a pile of crap (bills, toys, catalogs, toys, and did I mention toys in the middle of my table! :teeth: )

Beth...actually I got 3 iep's done yesterday, the two worksheets that I need for tomorrow done this morning and will probably get some iep work done today.

Sidenote to the ieps...I called Astrid and asked her if she knew where the "mod" button was located so we didn't have to rewrite the whole dang thing and she played with it and found it...so now my mods should take 30 to 45 minutes for each iep versus the 2 hours!

Suzanne....our iep committee is a joke...I can't believe we get away with it the way we do. But most of the parents are as knowlegeable as you when it comes to writing their kid's iep so they take our word for it. Here's how it usually goes:
1. date approaches...I talk to the teachers, look at the kid's grades, and talk to the parent if they will call me back...most don't

2. I sit down write the whole thing myself

3. submit it to my designee and they grade it and give a sheet back with all the things they want me to change (wording primarily...sometimes its things that we forget to check off or mark)

4. send notice home to parent with completed draft

5. parent may or may not come in for meeting and then we sign off on it.
There really isn't any committe here. We meet as a committe and change anything we need to but unless the parents are strong advocates for their kid we end up writing it completely by ourselves!! Then give it to the parents and expect them to sign! thank goodness some of us really look out for the kids and make sure the kid is getting what they need because there are some that don't!!

Okay, gotta get finished getting ready for the zoo!!

I'll see you all later!

Morning!

Off for a breakfast out and to Home Depot. We're bringing a sample of the color to see if we should buy tint to change it or if we should just buy another gallon of a color we want.

Anyone want 2 gallons of lime green paint?

Suzanne
