Hola, I thought it was a full moon. I had some *fascinating* people tonight-NOT! Bethie, can you come down here for a session? :teeth:

Tara, so his head doesn't fit, eh? Yeah, I've been told for years I have 'den mother' written all over me. I'm hyper and type A, definite den mom material. Perhaps next year-I'm learning to say NO loud and clear! When do you start? Tuesday?

Darn, I missed the house exchange. I've got a room I'd swap!

Lainey, enjoy S. Jersey. I've been to Long Beach Island and Manahawken-sis used to live there. Very pleasant.

Something about a hunter being strapped to the roof of a car strikes me as poetic justice!

Alan, thanks for the rescues! You're not an idiot, you just look like one sometimes. :lmao: *those* idiots don't have a clue about raising children who are *different*.

Sherry, what kind of cookies today?

Oh yeah, my car doesn't smell like gas-now it smells like epoxy.

Happy 9 year anniversary to me and Ed-I worked and didn't see my sicky. We'll celebrate over the weekend. Kinda small, since we'll be in Disneyland in two weeks.

Nitey night.

Morning!

Happy Anniversary, Suzanne & Ed! :)
Chocolate Chip again. That's about all my boys like. :teeth:

:lmao: at the head in the desk story. Man, you've sure been busy and school hasn't even started yet?

Beth, hope you get that relaxing time on Saturday. Sounds like you need it. Hope you slept well.

Off to round up the boys. When they are all gone, its off to do groceries and go to the bank.

good morning gang, I'll be quiet!

Happy anniversary Ed and Suzanne!! Wow I'm so impressed 9 years...I can't even make it through an entire athletic season in a relationship...so 9 years is incredible (i know others have been together longer but it was my chance to point out how I judge the length of my relationships! :rotfl: I figure if i make it through an entire season then it will last forever!! :lmao: )

Kids start on Tuesday and yep still have a ton to do. It is pouring down rain here...compliments of Ernesto. We are expecting 5 to 8 inches of rain today and have been told if you don't have to be on the roads don't go out....hmmm school isn't canceled so i guess I still gotta go out! I have prepared tho....I have a complete second outfit in my bag so i can change clothes when i get to school if I am completely soaked. I will have a long rain coat on but the hood doesn't stay on...no string...guess they are afraid at 35 I'll choke myself on the play ground! But my pant legs will get wet as well my shoes and socks. So i'm prepared for that. I am also taking my WDW bucket hat to wear so that my head will stay relatively dry....and no its not a typical bucket!! tho today with no makeup it might be preferable!! :teeth:

anyway, gotta go and get to the grind. I'll see you all tonight or tomorrow!!
hugs to all and safe journey to elaine!!

Hi y'all! Was helping Luis decide what to pack last night. We're pretty much ready to go. I didn't notice, but I was almost out of two OTC that I use on a fairly regular basis, so I need to go get those restocked today.

Yes, Tara, they have those things in NJ... but htey are far more expensive there :p

Of course blasted Ernesto is going to make for a crappy day in NYC. I have a museum we can go to, but I am getting really bummed at the idea that we have to see the Statue of Liberty in the rain :(

LOL, Sherry, I would love a cookie or two! Especially chocolate chip cookies. And food bribes can be a good thing... way to a man's heart ;) Glad things are looking up for him then!

Bethie, yuck on your day there. I would hate getting rushed into work like that. I hope now she has a few numbers on program ;)

Tara, you had me laughing at J. I swear some of what he did reminds me of what my cats do when they feel like "hiding"
"No Gwenie, your head hid behind my arm doesn't mean the rest of you is hidden" :teeth:

Epoxy smell? I'm really not sure which is worse Suzanne  Hope that one fades and I hope that you get the right amount showing on the gague now!

Happy Anniversary to you and Ed

I probably should go to the one store I need to get to... that one at least should be open.

So much for having to go out in the rain right now. Just as i was putting on my coat and hat I decided to turn on the tv and see if there was anything different about schools. I had listened to the radio, I had checked the website, and neither of those had anything about school today. So while I'm watching the screen I noticed that norfolk schools were closed today...they always flood so that is why they are closed. Then Newport News...then portsmouth...(I missed chesapeake because I came in at the D's) and so I slowly removed my hat and my coat and by the time they got to VB schools I figured we were out..but we are on a 2 hour delay. So I need to be there at 10 this morning...ack! That gives me two less hours to get done all the @#$% I need to do!
oh and I've been up since 6:15....I could have slept in if they had announced it on the RADIO!!!!!!!!!

Guess I'll dis for a bit before I have to do anything else!

I'll borrow this if you don't mind. And I think we all will borrow that incredible ketchup. :thumbsup2

I can't even make it through an entire athletic season in a relationship.
Maybe if you didn't view them as contests or challenges?

:duck:

Good luck for everyone dealing with the weather.

...."New Jersey...Hungarian for: "Land of over-priced stuff"..."

Morning, all.

Had my nap and ready to take on the day! :teeth:

Tara, we had a really bad thunderstorm last week (worse than the rain Ernesto gave us) and I looked out into the parking lot, and there's one of my employees with her jeans rolled to her knees and her sneakers and socks in hand. It had poured that much in 20 minutes.

Yeah, 9 years was my previous best. :teeth: Honestly, Ed doesn't consider the wedding anniversary as important as the day I said I wanted him. So we celebrate the 12 year on October 1st as a bigger deal, lol.

Lainey, I have to agree that NYC rain bites. Safe travels.

Sherry, I'm with the kids on choc chip cookies. I have a kick butt peanut butter cookie recipe and that's Ed and Kevin's favorite, so I end up making those every once in a while. They're very chewy, Kimmar.

Speaking of which, here's the chewy chocolate chip recipe that you'll love:
2 sticks unsalted butter
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Hardware:
Ice cream scooper (#20 disher, to be exact)
Parchment paper
Baking sheets
Mixer

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Melt the butter in a heavy-bottom medium saucepan over low heat. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
Pour the melted butter in the mixer's work bowl. Add the sugar and brown sugar. Cream the butter and sugars on medium speed. Add the egg, yolk, 2 tablespoons milk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until thoroughly combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Chill the dough, then scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheets, 6 cookies per sheet. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown, checking the cookies after 5 minutes. Rotate the baking sheet for even browning. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Need food. Back later.

Suzanne

Kimmar sneated! Thanks for the anniversary wishes-and kudos to you for a long marriage. Guess I should read that trip report to see how happy it is! :lmao:

I thought New Jersey was Yiddish for "smells like yucky stuff"-well, at least the northern part does.

..... :lmao: :rotfl2: ....how ELSE will folks know that they are in Secaucus?? :confused3

Made it in to work early. But by the time I got there they were shutting down the school. So I now have a ton of work to get done here at home rather than at school. This means i can dis a bit while I'm working!

Happy Frrrriday Ya Yas!

Happy Anniversary Suzanne and Ed!
October 1st too!

Kimmar, I'm enjoying your trip report. Thanks again for sharing.

Elaine and Luis, have a safe and fun trip. Hope Ernesto doesn't "dampen" things too much for you to get some fun going.

Alan, you have a big job to keep us going here. Good Luck Man!

Sherry, Hope things with Julian work out. Is he the only one of the family in the school he's at? Big bros all going to other school? Hope he figures out what he needs to get himself settled and can communicate that. Good for you to get the teachers in on it. Maybe a few extra eyes will help a lot.

Tara, I'm tired reading about all that you've got going b4 you can teach.

Suzanne, a uniform, eek! We played CS/BS…DH got to play the uniform thing. Thanks for the recipe! Gonna hafta try it.

Where did my week go? :confused3 Oh yeah, I remember...a story for later.
:sunny:

Got some of the groceries done. I still need to go to Sam's and another local grocery store. And the library when the boys come home. Two of my books are in, and one of Jonathan's is in. :yay:

Elaine, hope the rain isn't too bad in NYC. Have a safe, fun trip.

Lily, Julian is in a school by himself. Two go to HS, and one is in the Jr High. He did good today. No panic, no tears. :woohoo:

Suzanne, thanks for the recipe. Can you post the pb one sometime? Jordan LOVES PB, so I know for sure he'd love the cookies. :) Any plans for your anniversary?

No cookies today. They do have leftovers for after school, but now Julian wants me to surprise him with something, so I'll pick him up a small treat or toy.

Sherry, no plans. We're supposed to head to Cali next week-that's contingent on a couple of things happening. Crossing my fingers that the dominos fall into place.

I think I can access the pb recipe when I get home. It's actually the recipe out of my kitchenaid mixer cookbook with double vanilla. Yes, I try lots of the recipes that come in those cookbooks with the new gadgets.

Oooooh, Lily's got a story. I'm sure it'll be a good one!

Tara, grrr to the closing school. I had that happen. Went to college for my ONE Thursday class and they decided to close at 1pm. Since that class was only me and ex husband, and we were there, we still had it. And spent 1 1/2 hours trying to get off campus from the traffic jam. Glad we stayed-because it would have been 3 hours stuck in it.

Secaucus is good for outlet shopping, bring the noseplugs. The smell may be the decay of Jimmy Hoffa's corpse, you know!

Back to work for me.

Sorry I haven't been able to catch up... I'll be leaving in a few minutes!

I'll see you all on Monday night at the very latest!

Mad love to all :love2: :wave2:

I hope you enjoy the visit and the city Lainey!

We have no plans for the weekend other than grilling out on Monday.

A taste of what I did this week:

Monday after work I helped with our fundraiser for our Relay for Life team. After cleaning up and setting the alarm and getting home I realize I don’t recall that I/my partner turned off the cheese dispenser and put the cheese away in the refrig. Oh man, I am so tired, just sat on the bed and realized I just HAD to go back and check. Ted was too tired to go with me, I didn’t want to call any of my co-workers who I know would have gone, I figured it was my mistake (well ours with the co-worker I was with who was so tired she couldn’t have managed I was sure), and I was the one with the key. So lucky me my Dear DS#2 was still dressed, just getting close to the BR when he felt the mercy and went with me to check. It’s dark and scary and there I was with flashlight in hand. Yup, cheese was still cheesing. Got it put away, alarm reset, and off we were. We managed to raise a fair amount that night so that was good news. We had to invest $500 to start up this effort and as of today we have become even. No profit—no debt. Now we hope that the profits will be better than the expenses since we’ve got the main purchases over and it will be maintenance and some restocking from here. I work again Saturday evening—no life I guess—and hope it will be successful. Oh, and I won’t have the key this time so I won’t worry about a thing!

Tuesday was work and then rush off to the Indians baseball game. Now that was fun! We won! We had Great! Seats. We had free tickets and parking. We were lucky and spent our $$ on Ball game food! Late night again though.
:woohoo:

Lily....you have got to explain the whole cheese making thing...I must have missed something because i don't get it!! (I told ya'll I was tired!)

Elaine...hope your trip is going well!!

Alan...enjoy your free weekend....I want a weekend like that...but paint and quarter round are calling my name!! I'll be glad when the kitchen is finished!!

Got a call tonight that one of my winter bowling league team members died of a heart attack on Monday. He was 82 years old but I thought he was in his early 70's (not sure why I thought that since my grandparents were in their 80's and these folks have known each other since the navy consisted of just the Ark!! :rotfl: ) But he was an avid golfer, bowler, and boater. Every week he took his boat out and went fishing. I only knew him from bowling but it is still sad and we'll miss him. (he wasn't one of the creepy old men that hangs around at the bowling alley!! :teeth: )

Got my English lesson plans done for next week. Now I just have to type up a couple of my activities to be able to pass out and I'll be all set! Okay, well, not quite all set...I still have to make posters for the room and copy some stuff...but then I should be done....oh crap I forgot the 10 IEPs I have to modify...oh well, looks like my weekend will be busy!!

till tomorrow gang! :wave2:
