Not sure y'all want to hear my true feelings on this. Legally CWA had every right to come in and get us w/o our permission/vote. Totally sucks. And you can't make more if your parent company won't *pay* you more. So that is a total non-issue. THey are trying to classify our positions in with already bargained for union positions on the other side of the company. This also means I get less vacation and lose money due to benefits that I won't use. I could give two snits about benefits since we use Luis'. And in the end part of the cut comes from benefits we won't have to see come out of our deductions. Big whip there... I like what I do, I just hate where I work currently. I feel like I am taking it up the rear... we all do. As if the previous work environment didn't suck as it was.

Karen, sorry you have to cancel your trip.

You know, I made my last post and realized I totally glossed over everything that went on today for the rest of y'all. I was kind of a mess for a good portion of the day. Feeling better about it all for now... we'll see what happens when the mail comes next week ;)

I'm gonna whine how fast the dang boards are moving... I hate it... things slip pages and I just don't wanna take the time to search through all the rediculous posts... hopefully in a couple weeks I'll enjoy it here more :p

Nancy, I hate to admit, it finally got "unseasonably" warm here. So we had end of Oct weather at hte beginning and beginning Oct weather at the end... *sigh* Ohio is so confused :teeth:

Pam, it was all your fault that I had a blizzard for dinner... I swear  I Hope your day went better

LOL, John... I'll get right on that sock for you ;) I think Luis might go shopping with me this weekend for a dress.

btw, anyone need some dresses in a size 12? I have some very nice barely worn ones

Bethie, thank you for that compliment. I would love to find a dress at a great price. I have to admit, I have my eyes on a black silk dress. Where it is and what it looks like, I am not sure of yet... but I betcha there is one out there for me. Skipped the shopping today though. Dawn and I decided earlier in the morning it was just to blah to go... probably good... our moods were pretty foul by 10 am. Glad you are feeling better... hope Dave does too!!!

Kimmie :love2: Always good to see you here. You know my prayers are with your mom as she recovers

Good ketchup there Tara... but one thing... you already look 10x better than Anna Nicole Smith :)

:wave2: Hi Kimmar

Lily, were you able to enjoy a walk after work? I hope your weather was better than the gray weather we've been having!

Okay, think I caught up with the rest... definitely was an interesting day. We found the article, had the official annoucement after the article was read... and had one "vent" session this afternoon. More meetings in the works over the next few months and a 200+ page contract to read by end of year. *sigh* at least I know what I will be doing at work for a couple of days ;)

Hi everyone!

I'm home. I'm tired. It was a fun, but busy week. Had a great time at my bar. Weather couldn't have been better. Had three random DIS sitings. It was a good trip.

JellyrollsKaren

Thanks Lily... dinners like that sadly always make me feel good. I highly recommend them ;)

Welcome home JRKaren! Glad you had a great time!!!!

How is that possible they can force you to join the union Elaine?? Now dh is union--Teamsters--joined of his own free will. But there are other UPS drivers that are not union. For them if you want to join you dont and if you dont then you dont. Non Union guys make the same wages as the Union guys do.
Karen--Im so sorry you guys cant come down in Dec :(
JRKaren--good to see you back.
:wave2: Tara, Lily, Kimmie, Kimmar, Nancy and everyone else peeping in and not ketchuping :teeth:

Reminds me --when I was babysitting last week, one of the twins was so proud, she insisted I had to come see what she made in the potty!! Standing at the door and pretending to peer at the bowl wasn't good enough. I got the, "No! You have to stand right here!"

:scared: Lord, please do not let me become a Grandma for many, many years!! I don't do potty very well!:o

Kimmie baby, sweetie pie! :wave2: Prayers for your Mom - glad to hear she's doing well.

Elaine - I didn't get my DQ fiz - pop over and read my $31.84!!! thread.:(

John, I think your black sock hooked up with my pink pig one and they took off for Vegas....;)

I wish Nancy would come bake for me.

Evening, yayas! Met friends over in Orlando tonight, then had dinner at Hooters on the way home. Gonna be a busy few days here, you may not see me until Monday-unless someone buys these Not So Scary tickets for tomorrow night. If not, we're going, lol!

Lainey, Ohio isn't a right to work state? I know Ed could not be forced to join the union for his job back in Maryland. Closed shops suck, though-did that back in NY. My first job was a union job, became my last union job.

Tara, you do not wanna look like Anna Nicole...she looks like a fool. :)

Yeah, I wanna vote for TH for nicest DISer, too-NOT!

Karen, hugs to you...this time next year, you'll be preparing for meeting a bunch of crazy yayas. You're doing great, you hear?!

JRKaren, do you need a vacation from your vacation?

Gotta get some Z's....hi to all I missed.

Suzanne

:wave2:
Karen....sorry about you having to cancel your trip :( Know how hard that must be. But there will be lots more for you

Welcome home JRKaren.....glad you had a good time.

Lily...the taste test will be breakfast  By the time I got the layers all done, and let it cool and chill and do all the other things today, I just never got them back out of the refirgerator to cut :(

Pam.....well not bad for a multiple meal ;) Since you have so many leftovers, you can feed the family tomorrow too.

:wave2: to everyone else.

Good night.

Good morning all... very sleepy today!

Deena, no where in the US are you forced to join the union... however no matter what we will be represented by the union. We are now bargained for and get the same cruddy pay & vacation that the union now does. I am pretty sure I will not officially sign (not totally anti-union, but trust me, there is no bonus to signing for me). It just means we are all on the same level now. We had no choice about whether or not to collectively be a part of it due to something called accretion. Long drawn out reasons... but the short of it is, due to something that was passed over the summer, the LD side of my company (where I am) can now be legally compared to the Local side (where the union is set up already) and since we share "a community of interests" they came in and said okay, y'all now have to be treated the same. So us former "management" levels are getting the short end of the deal, and CWA gets our money no matter what. And that sucks too, even if I do not officially sign, they still get my dues every month thanks to the law. Just means I won't be forced to strike if they ever do. So whether I am officially union or not, I still have to abide by the contract because I am now going to be "bargained for" The law really sucks sometimes.

So Suzanne, Ohio is *NOT* a Right to Work state so that means I do not have to join, but I will still pay fees. The good thing is they will represent me if I am technically union or not (that's what we've been told, and honestly I don't think I really care either way ;))

Now that I've bored you with this all ;) I will hush for a while. Don't be surpised when I come back next week and vent about my lovely pay cut :p

Pam, I'll go check out your thread after this... it's on my list of "to read" Sorry that you didn't get your DQ though :( And no Hooters??? Okay you need to take a vacation... come visit me this weekend and we'll get Hooters and DQ just for you ;)

Suzanne, I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy your MNSSHP :)

Nancy, enjoy breakfast ;)

Sorry about the mess Elaine. Im really suprised you have "cruddy"
pay being union. Atleast for David if he werent union UPS would be trying to screw them over more than they already do. He would make less and not have as good of benefits if it werent for the Teamsters but I understand not every union is good.
Pam :crazy2: I dont buy any pizza unless I have a coupon. One day I was gone and Michael and Travis ordered 2 medium pizza's from Domino's (just 1 topping I believe) and it was $25! I always have a pizza hut coupons they Domino's should have offered them a special or something. I can 2 meds for $15.
Im not a fan of Hooter wings--I like the tangy ones like at Bennigans or Chili's.

....ya-yas!! Hey, anyone watch the eclipse last night???
eclipse.jpg

I checked out the eclipse a few times before going to bed. The rest of my family didn't want to go back outside and see the blood moon. Their loss. Thanks for the great photo.

....post THIS:

Hey, it's my furbaby's 1st birthday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MORGANA!

Deena, when the company won't pay more money, the union can't get us more money. We are being docked down a level so we can get a raise in 6 months. In addition we are being docked to compensate for the fact we don't have to pay health insurance out of our check. I'm also losing vacation. We are going into a contract that was previously existing, so we have no say in what goes on with it. We just get stuck. In a corporate environment we don't need it, but oh well.

Nice pic Kimmar!!!

John, lucky you for getting to see it... far too cloudy here.

Yup Elaine sounds like are getting screwed over pretty bad. I'd pretty upset too.
I popped out to see the eclipse a few times but finally had to go to bed. I was so tired yesterday. Everyone in our family had some place to be and some place they needed to be picked up from and we are down to 1 vehicle since my suburban is in the shop.

Good morning.

Breakfast was delish! :teeth:

Hope your family enjoys these more Lily, if you decide to make them.
Gotta :moped: She ya all later.
