Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Wow, I too am surprised how many of us Wisconsinites are on here together:cool1: It sure has been cold. We are from southwestern Wisconsin near Spring Green. The kids didn't have school again today either which was fine with me since I didn't really want to venture out in the cold too bad. I maintained this week which was fine with me since I wasn't really very good for a couple of days this week. But I am back on plan now exercising and watching what I am eating. :thumbsup2

Good job to all the losers this week and even those that have maintained like me or even have gained some---don't worry ---hang in there....like others have said today is a new day and you will succeed because you are making healthy choices and lifestyle.

GOOD JOB EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Another Wisconsinite here! I'm from Madison. Thank you everyone for your kind words :grouphug:. Hey! Did you know that the co-pilot of the plane that went down in NY is also a Wisconsinite? Something for us to be proud of :). That whole flight crew was awesome :cheer2:.

My DD's swim team's home big meet is this weekend (3 whole days) and of course we had a fair bit of drama in the computer scoring area where I volunteer. All the bugs seem to get shaken out on Friday night and then the rest of the weekend goes OK (or at least I hope it does). I bought a sub sandwich when I got there around 5:30 pm which was good because I didn't get another chance to eat until the we left at 9:30 pm! OMG ... if I didn't eat earlier I would have definitely stopped at one of the TWO Culver's on the way home and I wouldn't have stopped at cheese curds :sad2:. As it is, I did pour myself a glass of wine (did I mention the DRAMA?) but I'm still feeling OK with the day. Given the rest of the meet (I need to work it on Saturday and Sunday afternoons) I'm not sure if I can check in until Monday. But ... at least I am eating better since the meet is at home.

I lost 1 lb this week. I expected a little more as I can see and feel a difference. I'm down a total of 6.4 lbs so far.

My motivation is almost entirely my daughter. I don't want her to grow up worrying about us the way we worry about all the fully preventable health problems our parents are going through.

I don't have any DVDs but my favorite form of exercise is running. I'm running in my first race of the year tomorrow. It's a 10K in a beautiful state park near here.

I also enjoy my exercise bike and Wii Fit which I spend a lot of time on while watching football and hockey (go Sharks!)

I haven't read any health or diet-related books but my favorite exercise book is Marathoning for Mortals by Bingham and Hadfield.

Great job passing up the Culvers!! Two is a big temptation. The sub was defintely worth it. :goodvibes I need to stop reading about Culvers cheese curds -even though I was shocked by all the cal's and fat I still want to go and get some everytime I read about it.

I'm going to have to check out Marthon for Mortals, I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I did my new PS2 Yourself Fitness yesterday and I really liked it - I think this is going to help me. I also got on the tmill for 40 minutes so I could watch Desperate Houswives.::yes::

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!

I am a day late on the weigh in but I lost 4.5 pounds !!!! That's an amazing loss for me as I don't tend to lost fast. Now I think that there may be some "water" from the digestive track issues last week so we will see what happens.

One thing that I find for some of you that are working out is that sometimes I actually "gain" short term after a work out. (Lactic acid, water whatever) but it evens out over time. Plus muscle weighs more then fat. But muscle doesn't jiggle so stick with it!

I am a little behind on the questions.

DVD: Hmm. I guess Kathy Smith's Yoga for Weight Loss (or something like that) Looking for a new one for travel. Jogging is my overall favorite excersise however.

Book: Can't really think of one. And nothing has stayed with me enough not to get purged from the bookshelf LOL!

Can't recall Thursday's question. Maybe I responded all ready.

Stay warm everyone. Those of us in Atlanta think it's COLD, I can't imagine what it's like where some of you live!

Good morning everyone!

I'm excited because not only did I get my 3 workouts in this week but I got my Christmas present last night. a Wii Fit!!!! I"m so excited!

Hi everyone
sorry 1 day late on the weigh in but I did manage to lose 1 lb this week, not so happy with that but I know I could have done much better but a loss is still a loss and I accomplished something huge yesterday..I ordered the treadmill dum dum dum
so now I will have every opportunity to get ready for the half marathon 2010.
Now I just have to wait 2 weeks till it is delivered and set up,lol but in the meantime I have some dvds I can do..I think it is Leslie Sansone walk at home.

congrats to everyone that had a good week and even if it wasnt a "great" week.you are all still here and thats what counts.make today a better day.

I ordered 2 new water pitchers just for myself to keep filled in the fridge so that I know that is everything I should be drinking for the day and the family one that is there is for everyone else.I will probably be spending lots of time in the bathroom but hey a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

I know someone asked about my dis name..fluffernutter
well it used to be my favorite sandwich as a kid and adult :lmao: which is probably part of the reson why I am on a biggest loser challenge team, lol

I lived for these things.for those that dont know what it is ..it is white wonder bread with peanut butter spread on one side and marshmallow fluff or what some people call marshmallow creme spread on the other and then you put together and eat :cool1:
it is yummy but fattening.

I ordered all the books that were suggested to me to get ready for the half..marathoning for mortals and 2 others and they all arrived so now im for some serious reading over the weekend and lots of arts and craft projects with the kids.,its cold outside..sure not as cold as some of you that are in wisconsin but it is cold in NY today so brrrr

have a great day everyone!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Saturday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite Quote that help you and that you use in your weight loss journey?

It's Saturday - Consistency is the key!
:moped: :drive: :moped:

Keep on that wagon - One day at a time, One meal at a time!
If you fall off, we will pick you up!! Remember we are all in this WAGON together. Keep on driving!! :drive:

Saturday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite Quote that helps you use in your weight loss journey?

Mine is - "It's a Journey, not a Destination.

This is so true. You can't stop your journey when you get to your goal weight. It's not a destination that you get off that wagon and go back to the way you did before. This happened to me the last time when I lost about 51 pounds. I guess I thought I could not worry about counting calories or points. It didn't work and I'm starting the journey again. I really hope I learn it this time. I need to journal and watch what I eat, even when I'm at goal. Otherwise it's too easy to let those portions get out of control.

Congrat's to everyone who has lost, and for those that lost or gained this week - Hang in there. The number on the scale is just feedback. It just gives you a reference point on what you need to work at this next week. Take it one day and one meal at a time. Remember as we go to this journey to not feel shame in any gain, staying the same. We are in this together and please come post whatever the number is. Only by owning it, and then moving on will you be able to overcome it. Each day is a renewal and a new day to do better. It's not what you do in one meal or one day.......its the average. You can still have an overindulgant high calorie day, and eat lighter the day before and day after and keep on track. We can do this - Youc can do this.

Ok - fellow BL7 teammates - I need some help and ideas for tomorrow. DD's cheerleading competition is tomorrow. She competes at 1 something pm tomorrow. We have to drop her off at the HS by about 9:45am and then follow the bus - or we may just let her ride with a friend and go from the house around 10am.

The food at these things are usually horrible. Pizza, nacho's, hoagies, hot dogs, etc. It's at a university, so who knows what they will have.

I have a green's protein bar at 250 calories I can take. Any ther ideas of portable things that will keep me OP, but also not wanting to eat a real meal? I can get a good breakfast in, but then I'll be gone for a while. I'm not sure what time the awards will be, so we could be there all afternoon - sometimes into early evening depending on the actual competition.

Melanie,
I travel so here are some of my "travel" suggestions. They might work for your competetion too.

1. Breakfast bars
2. Carrots and celery. They seem to do just fine without refrig.
3. Those pre-packaged tuna meals. Watch the crackers, they are BAD, I just throw mine away
4. Cheese sticks. They also seem to do fine witout frig for a day.
5 Fruit is always good

Water bottle! A must

Hi all...a little bit more about me before I answer the qod...I am 44 and from Iowa. I have a great husband (Brian) and three amazing daughters: Alex, 21; Jordan, 11l; and Taylor, 9. I used to be thin and fit (in fact, Playboy Bunny thin---and there IS a difference between a playmate and a bunny). Now, I weigh more than I ever did even when 9 months pregnant! My health,my family and my appearance motivates me...but so does the fact that my dh says the next time I go through the castle I MUST be running the 1/2 marathon! So I am registered for the 2010.

On to the qod: My current favotire motivational line comes from the Beck book: Do it anyway.

So, whenever I don't feel like journaling or making a good choice or going to the gym I remember that mantra.....DO IT ANYWAY!

Peace Out
Anne

Well, I gained 1 pound this week.:sad2: I lost 5.5 last week, so I know I can do better than this! I'm so mad at myself!

Nik's Mom - It will happen next week!

Hello all you wonderful Losers! I've just joined this challenge and wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

A belated welcome, corinnak!:wave2:

Lost 6 lbs. this week - this is my first week of really concentrating on what I eat. Walked 2 miles today - here in the south it was cold but NOT near as cold as most of you are experiencing!

For those of you how gained pixiedust: It's a new week!! Get on the wagon and forget about the past week!!! You can do it!!

Congrats on the weight loss! :cheer2: And you make a great point on the weight gain.

Quick check in - down .8 this week. I thought it would be more because I've stayed OP and worked out everyday but I'm not complaining! its 3 sticks of butter and every little bit off adds up

You will find better success next week continuing what you are doing! It may just take the body time.

Down 3 pounds this week. I need to get better at reading/replying to posts in this forum. Just plugging away doing what works for me.
~Ingrid

I know what you mean about keeping up!:coffee:

Down .8lbs this week. Need to move more this coming week. I could make excuses about a very bad week at work. But the truth is I need to be able to handle stress without eatting and sleeping more than needed.

My thoughts exactly! Work is very stressful, but sometimes I wonder when it is not. Sooo, I guess the key is managing the stress w/o eating:scratchin

Good job planning and ignoring the calls of the cheese curds!:thumbsup2 And one glass of wine is nothing if it doesn't let your guard down.

Saturday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite Quote that helps you use in your weight loss journey?

Mine is "Make Good Choices";)

Sat QOTD - "It's kind of fun to do the impossible" - Walt Disney. Sometimes I look at myself and think that my weight loss/getting back in shape is impossible, then I think of Walt Disney and it makes me smile and know that anything is possible!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far - Lisa.

I can't really come up with a weight loss slogan.... maybe I need one.

I do have another one I use a lot in my life..

"When the Lord closes a door somewhere he opens a window" Not sure where it came from but I got it from Sound of Music!

We have to drop her off at the HS by about 9:45am and then follow the bus - or we may just let her ride with a friend and go from the house around 10am.
You can pack a small cooler full of healthy things. Maybe make a couple of sandwiches and bring along water so you don't have to buy from concessions.

Carol - great food ideas for the competitions! Melanie I know what you mean - you can't be gone all day and not eat but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Once (and only once!) I got a salad at one of dds and it was nasty - I threw it out and got nachos. The tuna meal in a can sounds great, or maybe a chicken one, some applesauce...???
