Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hi, just wanted to post quick-- I lost 4 #'s this week. :moped: Didn't suffer terribly but sure made sure everyone around me did..(except the kitties as they are angels) Good thing we have a quality crew of people at my work.
I think it's the swimming really, that and with the jacuzzi my back has been healing up pretty good. I don't have any exercise videos I watch, I really like doing my treadmill--it's a manual with an uphill climbing adjustment thing, but only if the View is on. Lol. I've really been enjoying the swimming too, I just hope i don't lose a contact! I did get some goggles at Target. I got a pedometer for $12.99 there too. Favorite book-- Please Don't Eat This Book by Morgan spurlock. Also some Weight Watchers book on diet myths I picked up at a thrift store awhile back. Well going to my movie reward--:-) I chose Last Chance Harvey. I love Dustin Hoffman- he's one of my favorites so there ya go.

I was excited to go to WW this morning and MAINTAIN!! After the week I've had, I was thrilled not to gain!

Officially at home for BL I was down .3. I will take it!!

DNiece & her DH are at Tampa airport getting ready to head here to go snowmobiling in the mountains for the weekend. I won't be online much. Gotta go finish cleaning house!

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

My weigh-in is Monday but I wanted to say congrats to all you losers!

Went to the gym again today-that's every day since I've joined.:thumbsup2 I love my trainer and he's really pushing me to stick with it. He gave me a plan to follow for 6-weeks at which time I will be measured and weighed again to determine my progress. He and I will meet once a week to workout together as well.

Tonight's going to be tough for me...going to a party for a friend of mine at a Karaoke bar and who does Karaoke without a few drinks in them?!? Wish me luck!

congratulations! That is on my bucket list and I envy all of you!:woohoo:

**** Danger, Danger**** don't read below if you don't want to be tempted:

Culvers is SINFUL! It is a delicous fast food type restaurant, except they cook everything fresh (at least that is their claim) when you order. It takes a bit longer to get the order, but it is so worth it for the taste... not the calories. :rolleyes1 Their bacon butter burger deluxe is like 22 WW points!:scared1: It is very good though!:thumbsup2 And their custard is heavenly. http://www.culvers.com/menu/ there is a pic of the cheesecurds, breaded, deep fried cheese curds... yum.

A bucket list is sort of like my NOW list (from the book by Phil Koegan of the Amazing Race) - N. (no) O. (Opportunity) W. (Wasted) - is about making a list of things you want to do in life and working to make them happen. Also opening up your self to follow those opportunities your given that could lead to an exciting adventure. Very good book for oppening your eyes to things to do in life. I did the 1/2 marathon, saw the space shuttle launch, rode a hot air balloon, joined a hot air balloon team - after reading the book.

Culver's -
Step away from those cheesecurds - HOLY COW -670 calories, 38g Fat, 15 Saturated.

Now as far as the hamburgers go - A butter Original single is not bad at all - 346 calories, 15g fat, 6g Saturated. That isn't bad at all and way more filling and saturated than the cheesecurds. Now if you went and had that hamburger and maybe stole 4 cheesecurds out of your dining mate's plate - I bet that wouldn't be so terrible. Just take and that's in the bag and divide by that 670 and see what you get.

Now I know why I like calories over WW's - I would count the 573 calories for the butter bacon deluxe single and work it into my calories. 22 WW points however is like all my points for the day, lol. I get 1200-1550 in calories, so working in 573 wouldn't be the end of the world. Strange difference huh. Is the 22 for the single?

So is a cheesecurd like a fried mozzerella or fried cheese? Is it just regular cheese?

I am so pumped! I lost 6.5 lbs.!!!!:cool1: This is my first week, so I realize it is probably a lot of water weight loss, but I don't care! I am proud of my loss. I worked hard for it. There is still room for improvement, though. I really have a hard time getting in all my water.

My favorite exercise right now is the Wii fit I would say. I also have a few of the Firm DVD's but I haven't dug those out in while. I think I will this weekend. They are pretty challenging, which is what I need to kick my exercising up a little. I don't want to get bored of doing the same thing every day. I need to change it up. I really like walking but it is a little too cold out for me this week. Maybe this weekend it will be nicer!

Good luck to everyone this week!:thumbsup2

.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite workout DVD and Why (or if you don't have one - your favorite way to exercise and why) and What is your favorite Diet/Health book and why?

Favorite DVD is Yoga for Weightloss Susan D
Favorite Book You on a Diet Very basic.

I think that I am a little behind on the questions.

My motivation to lose weight is to gain self control and train better for the Disney half marathon.

I don't really use workout DVDs. I have one of the Leslie Sansome DVDs - WOTPs - but the last time I used it, I hurt my knee - so I am scared now.

I love diet/health books especially The Best Life and anything by John Bingham.

I'm just popping on to say that I lost 5.5#!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Eeyore's Butterfly asked what our first goal was, and I past it! I have now officially lost 25# from my highest! I have been trying loose this amount since last March and I finally did it!:thumbsup2

I am so happy I didn't step on the scale earlier this week, THis was so much better to see the number, I know it kept me more on track to wait for the anticipated weigh in day! YeeeHaw! :cheer2:

Awesome, Awesome, awesome Vija - and to everyone else who lost too - even if just a little bit.

If you gained a little, cheer up - as Scarlett said, "tomorrow is another day" and the body is a strange beast.

As I reported earlier in the week, I was down 3.6 pounds, but have been eating too many points the last couple of days. I have been in control though. Counted everything.

DH has gone to try to find a Wi system. Good luck to him - I hear that they are rarer than turkey teeth.

Have a magical losing day folks - I hit the gym in the morning, see the new trainer on Monday.

Linda

Quick check in - down .8 this week. I thought it would be more because I've stayed OP and worked out everyday but I'm not complaining! its 3 sticks of butter and every little bit off adds up

Down 3 pounds this week. I need to get better at reading/replying to posts in this forum. Just plugging away doing what works for me.

Misery loves company :crazy2:. It was really tough to log in and admit that I failed. Well ... I'm gonna own those extra pounds, put 'em behind me and do my best to make 'em go away.

You should be very proud of yourself Robin. Really. It's hard to post a gain. I've learned to do through past BLs. Because if this is a journey for life it can not be successful without gains. I could hear that yours was tough. But regardless you should be proud for simply plugging through. :flower3:

It's a new day. I've been emotionally eating today out of the blue. Emotional eating has been going - as in not an issue - for awhile for me (been doing this - losing - for awhile) No idea what's up. So we all have our issues to push through for sure.

I concentrate on exercise. The only thing I do with food - other than love it :rotfl: - is to try to eat consciously. It's worked I'm down more than 75. More than because I lost for years without being on a scale.

So I posted my book on exercise - didn't need it to exercise of course did that before and after - but it really changed my mind and how I think about it. So I'm posting again cause I think it is fantastic. It talks about the difference between being skinny fat and weighing more and being fit etc. and pushed me to intervals which have hand's down pushed my weight down.

So it's The New Fit or Fat by Covert Bailey and I like Hold it! You're Exercising Wrong by Edward J_________. Both books pushed me to interval training.

Hi, everyone! Congratulations to everyone! :cheer2: All the losers - keep it up! :cheer2: All the maintainers and gainers - Hang in there, next week will be your week!!:cheer2:

I am down 1.6 pounds this week! :cool1: I was hoping for another .2 because that would put me at a total of 4 pounds so far, but I'll take anything I can get! :thumbsup2

I ate more calories than I should have yesterday and didn't get as many workouts in this week as I would have liked. But overall I'm getting into the swing of things.

My favorite "dvd" isn't really a dvd. It is a group of workouts that I recorded from FitTv. I really enjoy the Total Body Sculpt series by Gilad (that's the guy's name). It is the workout that DH and I have been doing in the mornings. It is a combo of cardio and toning. Some of them kick butt more than others. If I do it consistently I really start to see a difference in my butt :thumbsup2

The only weight loss/ health book that I think I have read in recent years is The Best Life by Bob Greene. I got it for Christmas last year. I read most of it and really liked the principals, but I never ended up finishing it.

I also completed the COW for last week fairly easily. This week, getting 3 veggies a day, could be a considerable challenge for me. :scared: I struggle with my veggies (fruits too!). This is a good challenge though! Thanks!

Have a great losing week, guys!! pixiedust:

i am so behind on this thread its unreal!!! we are a chatty group! :)
For the Friday question: I like the Turbo Jam video I have ( punch, kick, jam) i also really like the Walk away the Pounds DVDs. I still have the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred to try as well..i hope i like that one!
i am following Weight Watchers right now, so i try and read their cookbooks and magazines.

Hi there. the scale finally moved down this week ... one pound! :thumbsup2 And I did really well with my water, especially last weekend, as I'm really bad on weekends getting it in. I liked being accountable. :)

I'm finding this "mega-thread" really difficult to follow. Trying my best. ;)

Have a good weekend everyone. for those that live in cold areas like I do, stay warm!

Woohoo!! I lost another 1.5lbs this weeks! I've dropped 4.5lbs since we started!! :cool1:

Hello to all of you Wisconsin Losers...I didn't realize I had so many neighbors doing this challenge with me. School was called off both yesterday and today, so I had some extra time to get my exercise in. The kids are getting a little stir crazy, so I'm glad it's supposed to be above 0 tomorrow. I lost 1 pound this week proving to myself that I'm the tortoise and not the hare in this whole journey. That's okay as long as I keep moving in the right direction.

Congratulations to all of you losers/maintainers this week and chin up to the gainers. Next week is a new week.
QOTD: I like my Wii fit and the Outdoor Challenge for the Wii. For those of you who have the Jillian Michaels game for the Wii, I'd be interested in hearing how you like it. The reviews on Amazon aren't very positive which has kept me from buying it so far.

Have a great weekend all of you.
Jen

Down .8lbs this week. Need to move more this coming week. I could make excuses about a very bad week at work. But the truth is I need to be able to handle stress without eatting and sleeping more than needed.

Vija - yes the Omron works with Pooh-sized hips...mine!:rotfl: The do say don't clip it on a purse or something you're swinging. I clip mine either inside my pocket or if I'm wearing sweats or something right onto my waist band. I think wearing a pedometer is definitely worth it, it amazed me to see how many steps I did (or didn't) take in a day.
Thanks! I think I am going to go get one.

So , I'd have two BODY BUGGS THEN?!?!?!? sounds great!!!:thumbsup2

All day yesterday the theme song for the BL song kept going through my head and I thought we should have a daily "What have YOU done today to make you feel proud?" (It's never too late to try....What have you done today to make you feel proud?)

You bet I'm going to bug you!!! :rotfl2:

And I think that is a GREAT IDEA, "what have YOU done today to make you feel proud?!
for me today, I didn't finish all of my taco salad I brought to work. I was full and instead of just shoveling it in, I consciously decided to throw the rest out.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite workout DVD and Why (or if you don't have one - your favorite way to exercise and why) and What is your favorite Diet/Health book and why?

I like the Biggest Loser DVD's and WATP. I also like some of the oldies but goodies and sometimes rotate to those... Jane Fonda, Richard Simmons, Kathy Smith, etc.

Favorite book, I don't remember the exact name, but it was something like "stop digging your grave with a fork". It was the first diet book I read all the way through. I think I should go back and read it again.

Hello all you wonderful Losers! I've just joined this challenge and wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Welcome!!!:welcome:

Misery loves company :crazy2:. It was really tough to log in and admit that I failed. Well ... I'm gonna own those extra pounds, put 'em behind me and do my best to make 'em go away.

I think you should be very proud about logging in and stating you had a gain this week. Did you fail? No way, it is just a bump in the road. Very few people ever have just a downward loss, weight loss does fluctuate up and down. You will have a down week, but I give you credit for coming on. I remember the first WISH BL challenge we did, when I started gaining weight, I gave up and dropped out. YOU DIDN'T DO THAT! You hold that head up high and march into next week with great expectations!:thumbsup2

Step away from those cheesecurds -

So is a cheesecurd like a fried mozzerella or fried cheese? Is it just regular cheese?

I think I am going to have to get that book. It sounds just like something I should read right now. Good for you for doing things on your NOW list. It must feel great! I would love to see a space shuttle launch too. We were in KSC about 15 min before the scheduled launch, and they scrubbed it.:sad2: That wasn't fun. And we are running out of launch's for those. Maybe I'll have to try to see the first mission to the moon launch. I'll bet that would be very exciting!

The cheesecurd is is breaded and deep fried. I think they must use cheddar and mozzarella because some of the curds are yellow and some are white. We usually do buy 1 serving and share it amongst the four of us.

I got Jillian Michaels last week. I enjoy it. The instructions are not that great. The demos show the exercises really fast, and ou just have to figure things out. Its nice in that it is circuit training. You pick the instensity and the time (5 to 90min) and the then it goes through a bunch of exercises, alternating with others. The others include boxing (includes kicks), kayaking, throw paint grenades, lug jumping, and I can't remember all the others. It has a bunch of built in music, and you can pick the style to listen to. WiiFit has better graphics, and better instructions. Jillian's best thing is that you can do a longer exercise routine.
