Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Forgot my quote that motivates me...it's actually the lyrics from "Proud"..."What have you done today to make you feel proud?" Turning down junk food, exercising when I don't feel like it, exercising when I do feel like it...sometimes at 4:30 I ask myself that and I have no answer, so I get up and do something. We should all feel proud of at least one thing we do every day!

Fav motivational quote--Well something that was said on this board about not shooting the rest of your tires out when you have a flat. It's made me stop a few times.

How about something like picking up Subway on the way? That way you're still kind of eating "out," that is: it is portable and disposable and doesn't require much work from you, but you're not stuck with completely unhealthy choices.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure to have enough food that you like that you won't feel tempted to grab something else. I'm sure you'll do great. Oh, and good luck to your daughter!

I am enjoying everyone's quotes very much. I have not adopted one of my own yet - I guess I'm still shopping! I found this one today and it definitely speaks to me:

"Failure is only a fact when you give up. Everyone gets knocked down, the question is: Will you get back up?"

Way to go everyone! Week 2 is much harder than week 1. Hopefully after week 3 we will have developed some healthy habits we can keep and don't feel like work.

After being disappointed with my 1 pound loss yesterday, I went against my better judgment and weighed in this morning. I was down another 1.6 pounds! I must have been retaining water or something. I feel a lot better now since I really behaved myself last week eating-wise and worked out like crazy. I should have a much better weigh-in next Friday.

I ran in a 10K race this morning held by our local running club. It was a beautiful course and I had a great time. I let my ego get the better of me and started off too strong. I had a hard time by mile 5 but still managed to finish about 2:30 under my previous best time. I think the extra pounds off really helped.

By far my favorite quote and one that has really inspired me is from right here on WISH:

DLF > DNF >> DNS - Dead Last Finish is greater than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start

I remind myself of this every time I get discouraged about seeing people twice my age finish races in half the time it takes me. I think about this quote every time I think I can't do something. It amazes me how many excuses we can come up with to not do something good for us just because we are afraid of failing.

-steve

My favorite quote is from John Bingham. "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."

This quote has helped me get to the starting line of numerous 5k's, 10k's and 4 half marathons.:thumbsup2

These are actually two of my favs also. I have had to repeat the WISH mantra to myself on a few runs. I nearly bought a shirt last weekend with the Bingham quote.

Hi Carol!
I have the Bingham shirt. I got it from One More Mile. I also saw them at the marathon expo last week. My girlfriend had John Bingham sign hers.

I'm up 1.4 pounds but it could have been worse. It's been an emotional week. My head hasn't been in the game at all! I did make it to the gym three days...

I found out my hernia is iguinal from working out! I learned that a c-section scar on the outside goes hip to hip, but inside the abdominal wall and uterine wall are cut up and down! When the surgeon saw that I was being referred for an incisional hernia from my c-section he went right to my midline. I told him it was in my right groin... He said my family doc must not have known about the c-section cut. Anyhow, my surgery is monday morning. The good news is he said I can start on the treadmill after two weeks if I'm up to it! Yeah! I was so bummed when my other doc said six weeks!!

He also said I may be well enough to drive down to Florida for a family reunion the end of this month!! I was disappointed that I may have to miss it.

And finally, I did my first mammogram on Tuesday and something came back suspicious. I know that 90% of the time it is nothing, so I'm not going to worry about it. If I'm feeling well enough they want to do an ultrasound and something else on the 26th...otherwise I'll have to reschedule.

That's my week in a nutshell. I'm glad to see that so many are participating in the BL challenge. I'm going to need a lot of inspiration to keep me focused the next couple of weeks. Take care!

Hi everyone! I lost 1 lb this week. I'll take it. I'm hoping for a better week this week. I didn't sleep more than 5 hours any night and didn't get my water in one day this week. I'm committing to do better this week. I'll never reach my goal at this pace so it's time to get serious.

Congratulations to everyone sticking with the challenge and thank you for inspiring me. I don't post much but I do lurk and have read all of the posts. I have learned so much from you.

QOTD: My favorite quote is a something I read off of a sign in front of a church while driving home one evening. It read "Change is inevitable. Misery is optional." For some reason it really resonated with me. It applies to many situations.

Have a great, warm week everyone!

Leanne

There are some great quotes here!

Mine is from Master Yoda.....

Try not. Do or do not, there is no try. :yoda:

My sister has challenged me to run the Peachtree Road Race July 4th. She does it every year and I have always wanted to do it since I was a teenager. Soooooo, I am now in training and my legs are sore!!

Good luck this week!!

I forgot to answer Wednesay's QOTD:

I have several things thare motivating me:

-My Master's degree in May. I don't want to look at photos of graduation and hate what I see.

-My diabetes.

-My boyfriend will most likely propose sometime this year. I don't want to be trying to lose weight while planning a wedding.

-I used to be a performer for Disney. One of these days I want to go to Orlando so I can teach and work for Disney part time. There is no way I could do so at the weight or fitness level I am at now. At the height of my Disney "career" I was performing in up to five parades and shows a day. I want to get back into shape so that I can once again be a performer.

Where in Wisconsin do you live? We are in Hartford, near to West Bend

I'm from Mineral Point. We used to live in Oregon, WI, but we moved about 4 years ago. It was nice to get out of the house today since it wasn't so cold, but the roads here were slippery! I'll be so glad when spring arrives again. I went shopping with my sister, and we ate at the food court at the mall. I ordered first, and got an extra plate. We decided there was plenty of food there to split--and we were both plenty full at the end. In the past, I would have eaten the whole thing without even thinking about it.
I had to think for a while about quotes. My initial impulse was to go with "Me do anything for cookie" by Cookie Monster, but I decided to give it a little more thought, so my favorite quote covers lots of things in my life, not just my journey to be healthier.

"It's our choices that show who we truly are far more than our abilities."--J.K. Rowling

All of you 5K and 1/2 marathoners are inspiring me....I'm going to have to try to run...
Jen

Maybe we should get a greoup of Wisconsinites training for the same 5K or 10K and all meet there?? That'd be fun - don't ya think??

My answer to Saturday's Question of the Day:

I don't know if this is actually a quote, but this is what I say to keep me going "I'm worth it! I want it!" I have to remind myself that I want to thinner and healthier more than I want to eat junk.

:grouphug: hopefully next week will be easier for you. :grouphug: And thanks for the lesson on c-sections. I had one, but didn't realize the inside scar was different direction than the outside one.

It's been a couple of busy days around here and haven't had a lot of time to post.

I was down 4.5 lbs this week, couldn't believe it when I got on the scale. I know eating had been OP and we got four days straight of walking in but was still a bit surprised. It has been too cold to get out for our walks but we are planning on going to the mall and walking today.

Have loved reading the quotes, don't really have one to add for me but may have to adopt someone's.

Good going to all that have lost this week. If you maintained or gained, don't let it get you down, we will all have those off weeks during this challenge. Keep your head high and let it give you more determination for the week. Keep up the great work everyone!!!:cheer2:

I forgot to post my Sat QOTD quote:I have 2 that I love:

""Don't let what you are now define what you will be"

and

"Don't be perfect ... Be consistent"

Hi there neighbor, :wave2:

We live between Spring Green and Dodgeville, so we do not live too far from you. My husband actually works in Mineral Point some of the time at Alliant Energy.

Yesterday was a little nicer outside (at least it wasn't below zero  )
My husband and I did go snowshoeing outside which was fun. It was nice to be able to workout outside rather than on the treadmill.

I hope everyone is having good Sunday!

Vicki

Good morning, all! It's another week in our weight loss journey!

As for Saturdays' quote of the day, I like something that Kurt Warner said the other day in an interview. " I walk by faith and not by sight. I walk according to what I believe, and what I believe the power of God is, as opposed to what the world tells us, or what the circumstances appear to be."
Go, Cardinals!
