"Welcome Home", does it make or break your trip?

Does "Welcome Home" make or break your DVC experience?

  • I need a "Welcome Home" to enjoy my trip

  • I am sad and disappointed when the cm's do not say "Welcome Home"

  • I don't care either way

Thanks Maistre Gracey, I think your poll is more telling. Even so with this poll, it looks like about 1/3 of the people are at least sad and dissapointed not to hear it. It's an easy thing to incorporate, and should be standard practice. Besides, I think DVC'ers are pretty good tippers.....

This poll came about because so many folks out there cry foul when they come back from their trips when they do not get a "Welcome Home" from a CM. Maistre Gracey's poll address whether you want to hear it or not. This one says do you have a grip if you don't hear it. I think this is more telling.

I am proud to see most of us are reasonable when it comes to "Welcome Home".

I will state it again, if it truly is our home we would be offered Florida residence discounts. As far as I know we don't.

sgtpet, while I certainly agree that your poll tells another side of the story (there are always more than one), many here have expressed the need for another category. There is no choice for "I would rather hear it, but it's not a vacation buster".
It also seems to me that the first two choices are very similar.

-Just my opinion

I got that impression as well...both phrases lead to the same conclusion type. Poll design is difficult to do. :)

One point I thought of about 2 seconds after my first post:
Change 'Welcome Home' at DVC to 'Aloha' on arrival in Hawaii. Somehow Hawaii wouldn't seem right without one.

It's fun to here Welcome Home but couldn't ruin our vacation without.
We have a tradition of saying Welcome Home each time we enter our villa!

I don't need a "Welcome Home." JMHO--when I'm at WDW--I'm not home. I'm in my favorite place in a total escape from all things, including home, with all its associated chores and problems.

I love my escapes from reality! :D Don't welcome me home--please! Welcome me to fantasy and fun! :jester:

I wouldn't say "Sad & Disappointed" maybe just a little bit disappointed! It's a nice touch, we have rarely not been given a "Welcome Home" at the guard house at OKW.

My thoughts tend toward "it does not matter either way". But having said that, I was really surprised at the tingle I get from the "Welcome Home's". It does not make or break the trip, but is a real plus for me.

It is a nice touch, but certainly wouldn't break my heart if I didn't hear it.:p

Nicely said MdmMim. My feelings exactly! :)

I voted "I don't care either way" because I'm not "sad and disappointed" when I don't here it, but I really do like hearing it. I agree with Mickey McMouse it really is icing on the cake!
