Here is the review of our visit to the Cape May Seafood Buffet in July from my trip report. Lots of pictures. It was one of my favorite meals (Boma was tops, though). We ate at Captain's Grille on our first night and liked that, too.

That is the thing with reviewing restaurants. The experiences can vary a lot. Maybe I just caught them in a bad day and I am sure the fact that Beatriz was afraid of the characters did not help.

I finally finished reading your TR! I wish I had time to comment on everything, but DD is demanding my attention. I loved all the adorable pics of Beatriz! She is such a little doll. Thank you for sharing your fun time at Disney with us. I found your TR yesterday and starting reading it while I was at work. I was able to finish it up today. I really enjoyed it. You have a beautiful little girl, and a wonderful family. How exciting was it that your sister and her husband were able to join you in "The World" for a couple of days.

We are getting very excited about our trip this coming May. We love going to Disney. And some of our extended family will be there this time and we are plannning on spending some time with them there at the magic Kingdom and possibly doing a scavenger hunt.. So ready for some fun in the sun at Disney..

I have been reading about the scavenger hunt a lot lately and I have added it on the list of things we will have to do one day. Maybe when Beatriz is old enough. It sounds like so much fun! You will have to write about it later.

Thank you. I am VERY BAD with names and faces so I was very surprised someone was able to recognize us in the hotel. I have heard some DISers wear a lime green Mickey head on their clothes, backpack or stroller as an identification mark. It is supposedly the official DIS "sign". I have never spotted one in the parks though...

I have only seen a couple of LGMH (Lime Green Mickey Heads) while at Disney. In 2008, there was a woman eating alone at Kona while we were there for dinner. I didn't speak to her- my husband hates that kind of thing- but after our trip, I "found" her on the restaurant boards by saying what time we were eating.

I didn't see any LGMH on our 2010 trip, but when I was looking at one of my pictures (Mary Poppins and Bert walking down Main Street), I saw a LGMH on someone's backpack.

*Where have we been?*

So I thought about starting a PTR but decided against it since I m really, really bad at keeping it up. So I decided to have a small PTR right here if that is ok.

But before I get into our plans for our next trip ( I know. I can be such a tease) I wanted to fill you up on what we have been up to since we came back from our May, 2010 trip. So aside for feeling really sorry for ourselves since we were no longer at WDW we managed to pack in some fun family activities.

For starters, we caught World Cup fever in June. Too bad Brazil disappointed once again.

And we also spent a lot of time enjoying our backyard swimming pool:

In August we went on a camping trip to Cape Cod, MA. We LOVE going there!

Please notice the Jessie bathing suit. I seriously wish they had that on my size:

Then Summer was over and we went apple picking in a farm not far from our house in October:

And that is where we tasted these amazing apple beignets:

In December we went to a Play House Disney Live Show...

... and somehow Beatriz ended up on the stage.

Then in December we went on a road trip to Knoxville, TN to reunite with my mother and my sister:

It was great to be with family! My sister had even hand knitted this hat and scarf for Beatriz. Aren't they beautiful?

And we ate some great Brazilian food too!

And Beatriz even got to meet my uncle and my cousin for the first time:

Thanks Dee. Beatriz' hair grew a lot, very fast. She is a very girly girl and loves playing with her hair. She is quite obsessed with Rapunzel right now and always asks me to leave her hair down just like her.

We love going to Cape Cod and we are planning to go back this Summer. I guess you can say it is pure Americana fun.

My sister lives in Knoxville and we drove down to see her in December. My mother was visiting her from Brazil so it was a great reunion. They live in Karns. I also have an uncle, aunt and cousin that live in Nashville and we were able to spend some time with them as well. Lots of family love!

I think you guys are going to love MA... I know we do!

So while still in Knoxville Joey and I made a 24 hour trip to Atlanta to go to a NFL game (FalconsX Saints). We left Beatriz with my mom and my sister and it was a nice little break for the two of us.

On our way back from ATL we stopped for breakfast at a little town called Marietta, GA where there's a big Brazilian community. My sister had recommended a nice place to eat and we did not regret it. I wish they had places like that near our house. So yummy! We also stocked up on some Brazilian essentials at little grocery store we found on the way.

Then in no time we had to say good bye to my family again and drive back to Montreal. It always passes so fast...

Then in February we decided to stop complaining about the Winter and instead we went tobogganing with some friends:

Things did not turn out so well when first I lost my glove and had to go down the mountain with snow up to my knee to get it back and then by the time we got back in the shelter I realized I had lost my camera. So disappointing... I also found Beatriz was still a bit young for that type of adventure...

Still in February Beatriz came to my work to have her first professional dental cleaning and check- up:

And she also had her first real hair cut:

Which brings us up to now! March finds us busy planning our Disney trip and looking forward to better weather. I am doing some "Disney shopping" for everybody and also obsessing about what each one of us are going to wear.

Now it is probably a good time to address my weight loss ticker. When we came back from Disney last year we started trying giving Beatriz a little sibling and since things are taking a lot longer this time I guess I can say I was doing some pretty heavy emotional eating. I put on a lot of weight on top of all the " baby weight" I had not really lost from my pregnancy.

In the beginning of the Fall I was feeling really sorry for myself and nothing I had in my closet fit me so I decided to join Weight Watchers. I started with the program in the beginning of November and I already lost around 24 pounds.

It feels great!!! I am loving having my old body back and I am looking forward to Disney world so I can wear some of my old favorites as well as some of the new additions. ​

*How this trip came about*

So we usually go to Brazil every Winter but this year we just could not make it. We knew that by February we would be dying for a "beach fix" so we were hoping to be able to go on a Mexican getaway. However, as soon as we got back from Knoxville it became clear that our busy schedules would not allow us to get away that early again. We then proceeded to look for deals down South (possibly Cuba or Dominican Republic) for sometime in late March but nothing really came up.

Then one day Joey called me from work saying he had found air tickets for Orlando in May for $250 per person. Now usually the air fair is the make it or break it component for a Disney trip for us. The usual rate for a Montreal - Orlando flight is around $600. That means $1800 for the 3 of us and we did not even set foot at Disney yet. So when Joey came across the deal things started looking good for another May trip. He asked me if I would be willing to trade our "beach fix" for a "Disney fix". I was like "Hello!?! When can I start booking my ADR's??:

The $250 deal is with Air Canada on a straight flight leaving and coming back at around the same time we did last year. The only detail is that it could only be applied from Monday to Thursday so we are leaving on a Thursday instead of a Saturday this time.

The dates are May, 12th to May, 19th which works out PERFECTLY. We will still catch the last weekend of the Flower Festival and it is just a bit before the rush for the Star Wars weekend. As I said before I was surprised with the amount of people in the parks last year. I did not expect the kids to be on vacation that early so this time around we made sure we are going earlier. I have been checking the May, 2011 boards and it seems that most of the people will be going on the week of the 21st and after Memorial day so I guess that will work out for us.

So we went on the Disney site and we found the "kids stay and play for free" deal and after throwing numbers around we realized we could go for a week to Disney for LESS money than an all inclusive down South.

So we booked the POP hotel to guarantee the rate and I started looking for DVC points on the side. Unfortunately it was very "last minute" and all the studios at Bay Lake Tower and at Beach Club Villas (the only two hotels we really wanted to try) were already booked for that week. For our trip in 2010 we booked our DVC at AKL in the beginning of November and most of the studios were already taken at that point so yes they do go very fast. The other detail is that once you book with DVC points you can not take advantage of other promotions like "kids stay and play free" of "free dinning plan" for example.

I decided to wait for a PIN code and see if I could get anything at a Moderate or maybe even a Deluxe with a discounted price. However, months ago I had changed my email adress from hotmail to gmail but failed to change my info at the Disney site so when I got the email with the code it got buried with tons of junk mail at my old hotmail account that I never check anymore. I never saw it until it was too late. I tried to call Disney and see if they could still apply it but there was nothing they could do. Oh well...

So I tried to convince Joey to change our hotel reservation to a Moderate. I was thinking maybe PORFQ or Coronado Springs but the difference in the price was quite large. You see, December 2011 is our 10th wedding anniversary and we would like to do something special then (maybe even a cruise on the Dream) so Joey convinced me that the less money we spend now the more we will have for our anniversary trip.

Fair enough. POP it is. ​

We had such a great time with the slides and other features of the pools at AKL that we wanted to make sure we will have a similar experience this time. I guess we will have to go to a water park instead....

Your plans look great! I don't see much overlap between our days except on Sat. I am hoping to get to EPCOT that day but since we will arrive that day it will depend on how the day has gone so far. If I get my way we will be eating fish and chips for lunch too. If my family has there way we will eat at WL and lounge by the pool all day.


Weigh in was okay. I lost a little over 2lbs. Good I guess, but usually the first week is more. I guess since I have been eating less and a bit more healthy for the past few months there wasn't suge a big loss. Oh well, I'll take it.
