WDW Facts! Did you know...

More than a half-million character watches -- mainly Mickey -- are slipped onto wrists from Walt Disney World gift shops each year. At any given time, there are more than 200 different varieties of character watches. The most popular timepiece: a gold-tone relief of Mickey Mouse.

Since 1971, the total miles logged by Walt Disney World monorail trains would be equal to more than 30 round trips to the moon. One dozen new cars were put into service along the 14-mile beamway in 1990 as the original fleet received a well-deserved retirement.

It would take more than 20 million 12-ounce cans of Coca-Cola to fill one of the humongous Coke cups at the Home-Run Hotel in Disney's All-Star Sports Resort. :flower:

Stormalong Bay, Disney's Beach Club Resort swimming area, holds 750,000 gallons of water, making it the largest sand-bottom pool in the world.

If you wanted to stay in all the guestrooms in all of the hotels and resorts currently open on Walt Disney World property (at a rate of one per night) it would take more than 72 years. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

From the air, Walt Disney World Resort boasts a number of "heady" sights. For instance, the unique "Mouse Trap" on the 6th hole at the Magnolia Golf Course that looks like a famous corporate symbol. Over at the Bonnet Creek Golf Club, Mickey's profile greets golfers on the large practice green. The famous mouse is the model for the courtyard and area in front of the Chinese Theater at the Disney-MGM Studios.

Snow White and Ariel, even when they are off duty are not allowed to get a tan. Snow White because she must have white skin and Ariel because mermaids can't have tan lines. Cinderella has certain makeup colors (eyeshadows and blush) that no other character is allowed to wear.

Perhaps Snow White, but not Ariel. My daughter has a picture with Ariel in her Grotto and she has fake blue contacts, fake red hair, fake silicone, and fake tanning bed tan.

Is this a Did You Know? or a Urban Legends thread?

Hehe, sounds like a lot of these aren't even true after all.

Nonetheless, I like Disney Trivia, so keep the real trivia coming. Keep the urban legends (I heard from a friend who had a cousin who worked at Disney) down to a minimum.

HALL OF PRESIDENTS -

If you happen to get to the show before showtime, walk around and look at the paintings. The mural on the wall by the far left entrance to the theatre has a hidden Mickey head on the very end of George Washingtons sword. I asked a cast member about it and he said that they had the painting on loan from D.C., and that they had not done a thing to it.He said it was like ballbearings mounted on the end so that when Washington had to sign anything, he could balance the sword on end. :confused3

Buzz Lightyear Ride:

This one is right as soon as you walk through the door to enter this ride. It is on the right hand side on the picture on the wall. There is an earth looking planet!! The middle continent is a hidden mickey!! Not a three circle mickey!! Admin note: This same hidden Mickey can be found in the room where the planets fly over your head.

As you are going through splash mountain, there is a picnic basket and there are 3 fishing bobbers shaped as mickey.

 20 million?

HiDDEN MINNIE - Very Rare:

Ask a cast member to get a flashlight to show you - its not visible in plain sight if you havent seen it before, its as your loading into the cars and the mural right in front of you is of Hollywood, minnie is hidden in a forest of palm trees. ::MinnieMo

On the ride Tower of Terror, when you first walk into the Hotel and you are about to go either to the left or the right the sign that is next to the "broken or out of order" elevator, the letters that appear to have fallen off read "evil tower u r doomed"

In Space Mountain, every third window of stars while you wait in line has a Mickey constellation, similar to the one in Spaceship Earth. It's not totally easy to see. Look for a partial outline made of stars; the black space in the middle is Mickey's head. And I'm pretty sure they use the same panels for the ceiling as you are leaving, because I saw the same hidden Mickey outline up there too. :wizard:

Ok, how about one without using a book? :)

One of the globes held by an old man in the carvings around the columns in the Italy Pavilion has three holes in it. Rumor has it, one of the Imagineers had a passion for bowling.

HIDDEN DONALD - VERY RARE:

In the Haunted Mansion there is a hidden Donald Duck. There is a red velvet chair in front of the long hallway with the floating candlelabras. Look closly at the Chair, and you can make out Donald Duck's face.

Is it just my imagination, or is there a hidden Mickey in the ToT commercial? (In the reflection on the grate)? (Check out Fox35 Orlando 10PM news... the commercial runs at least a few times a week...)
