Hello from Hong Kong. We are continuing our extended journey.

Yesterday we visited another "Happiest Place on Earth" -- Disneyland Hong Kong. The park is small but is very enjoyable.

Holly... it's good that you got the advice of the Dr...

Lots of hugs for you and Tyler...

Tell him to believe in himself and that he can do good things!!! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Everybody's been working on his self-esteem since the end of last school year, I think he just has to see it to believe it, so we make a HUGE deal out of any good day he has at school. I'm just glad his dad agreed to increase the morning dose. I was actually hesitant to do it this time because there's not one single side effect now, I hate to mess with it, but will do whatever the doctor says and see what happens.

What's interesting is that Tuesday night at bedtime, when I broke his pill in half to give him, I did a horrible job and it ended up being more like 1/4 and 3/4. I gave him the tiny piece then before bed and Wed morning gave him the 3/4 portion. That was the only good day he's had in 2 weeks. Could be coincidence, but I'm hoping it means he does indeed just need more in the morning. We'll soon see! :thumbsup2

Good luck Holly...

And for me...

I'm going to try something that is very rare and pretty incredible in this house...

I'M GOING TO BED EARLY!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

But I could be back soon if it doesn't work out...
GOOD LUCK Michelle! I hope you get some sleep!

I have to get to bed too. I have to leave for work in 6 hours. Tomorrow, I don't care HOW bad the day gets (I might regret saying that) because at the end of the day, I can CRY with relief because my coworker comes back on Monday! I originally thought she'd be gone until Tuesday but found out today that tomorrow is my last day of doing both jobs. Of course, 2 weeks later, she goes on another Disney cruise, BUT hopefully I won't be there to cover! :yay:

Oh my gosh Wooddy, HOW COOL! I'm glad you're having such an awesome journey....what great places you've seen! Looking forward to details please. :goodvibes Where will you be next? Or will you keep us in suspense again?! ;)

Hi everybody! Thanks for the birthday greetings :) I had a nice birthday. Ken was in PG the last couple of days, so it was just me and the girls this morning and for the first while after work. Last night, Shaelyn wanted me to wake her up first, so then she could wake up Kaleigh and they could come wish me happy birthday. After work, the girls and I went and bought a cake and they picked out candles to put on it (yellow ducks and happy face ones :thumbsup2 ) They picked out a gift bag and tissue paper so they could wrap the present they had bought me when we got home. Kaleigh has been doing so good all week keeping the secret, but on the way home she blurted out "I get to put the slippers in the bag" :lmao: :lmao: Shaelyn was annoyed, but I just told her its okay Mommy wasn't listening. ;) And now its been a nice evening chatting with Ken in person and instead of a few minute chat on the phone ::yes::

Yes... and if you can tell the Gods of Wall Street to stop playing games... I could probably go for the whole summer...

But then again... I'll probably be busy... I can afford my lake house then and Nan said she had first dibs, but I'm sure that Ian and Sukie are going to fight her for that and then Angie and Dennis said they'd like a place to park the RV... and Bubba said he's bringing Venetia for some fishing and Tater cakes with Gravy...

::yes:: please put us on the calendar for fishing and Tater cakes with Gravy:yay: :yay:

Do I dare go for another whole page???? Nah! Gaylean would never talk to me again!!!!:confused3 G'nite Ladies!!!!

Hi Woody

Did you see the new shop called Marks and Spencer where I work for, is opening at Hong Kong?

Have a nice time:thumbsup2

This afternoon, I will be driving to Helensburgh for Olivia's Outdoor with deaf childrens so I will stay with friend at Glasgow for weekend. I am not doing the volunteer this time:yay: :yay:

Ahhhhh Trails End....one of my MUST do spots at WDW. And it still seems to be one of the best kept 'value' secrets at WDW :thumbsup2

SHANNON...HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY! (Shhhhhhh)

WHERES HOLLY....WE WANT THE UPDATE ON WORK!!

Checked in with my brother today...he's exchanging a time share week with RCI to then apply that towards the Tortola cruise. Looks like he'll be able to get a verandah for the cost of an inside doing that. He should know tomorrow.

Well, in less than three weeks we should have heard about the 2010 DCL plans....can't wait to see what's in the works. Did you hear the LATEST rumor? (i think someone just made this up) It was that the WONDER would be going somewhere (west coast?) that summer also so that they can do the work on the PC terminal and docking area to get ready for the big ships. Won't that have all the FL people's panties in a twist! No offence ment to OUR FL people :grouphug: ...but some of them just talk like they OWN those ships..:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Time to wrap things up here and head out for food. My BistroMD stuff should arrive tomorrow. :woohoo:

....later kids...

.

Oh no!!!:confused3 Now what will we all do. I think I would prefer a PC cruise to a Transatlantic one.:headache: :headache: :headache:

I finally checked and responded to some emails I got, so I am checking in with you guys too to let you know what has been going on in Ohio. Not much time to communicate with my friends here though . . .

This is the email I sent out:

I took my personal email off the computer at work, and because our evenings have been pretty hectic, I have not had time to check personal email or post much. We were on vacation several ago, and that was my last day off too! It was about the same time you the EB would have been leaving port in LA - we found out that Kim and Steve were going to be in DC for a meeting that Kim had for business, and we decided to do a last minute vacation and met up with them for 3 days. Since then it has been work, work, work, and dealing with Dad.

First dad . . . he fell at home the day after Labor day. Nothing broken, but he was very weak. They took him to the hospital for about a week, and then sent him to rehab where my brother was. Here is where it ties in to work. On last Sunday, I decided to get away for a bit, and Amy stayed home while I went to the Brown's game (Sunday Night Football). If any of you watched that game on TV, you have an inkling of what it was like. We basically hunkered down in ponchos as the temperature dropped 20 degrees, and the wind swirled and gusted. Game was over about 11:15, and I got home about 12:30. Laid down to go to sleep about 1:00. Our neighborhood was spared (underground utilities - although that is never a guarantee from where the power comes in) and we had power.

It was hard to see all the damage driving home because it was dark almost everywhere. I did see telephone polls and trees and wires down that I had to avoid once I got off the highway. I was just falling asleep when the phone rang. One of our stores was out of power, and perishable mdse. was going to spoil. We all needed to pitch in right away. This is our inner-city store. I had to hop in the car, drive downtown in pitch black, and start helping - just when I was falling asleep! I never did get to bed Sunday night.

At 8:00, I went home, showered, ate breakfast, and went back to the office. At 11:30, the store regained power, and we had to turn it all back around and restock the store. What a mess! If it had been more than one store, we would have been SOL. I told Amy be ready for me to come home and crash!

I got home, and Sophia wanted to go on a bike ride. I figured it would poop me out even more, so we rode 5 miles and got ice cream. We got home, and I was ready to crash at 8:00. Shortly after we arrived, the phone rang. Dad took a turn for the worst, and they were transporting him back to the hospital. I got in the car, and drove to the hospital - spending the next almost 4 hours in the ER with him until he was admitted. I got home about 12:30, and therefore got about 5 hours sleep after two days without any. By today I am almost back to normal.

Dad is not doing real well. He has good days, and bad days. He is in the coranary care unit at the hospital, suffering from congestive heart failure. It has caused lots of swelling, discomfort, and some confusion (more than normal). This afternoon at lunch he was almost normal. Tonight he was not so good, and very confused. I find my moods swinging with his condition.

Amy's mom STILL has no electricity, and Sophia just got back to school. Her school just got power back today.

It is really a mess up here, almost like half of civilization came to a halt.

That's all the current news guys!

Sorry I can't keep up, and miss reading here. Amy got a chance the other night, and made me laugh out loud at some of Ian's wit that she read and told me about.

I hope everyone is well, healthy, and has electricity!

Oh my, what a time you have had John!

So sorry your dad is having such a bad time. That means a bad time for you too. then on top of that all the other problems.

Really hoping things settle down for you and your dad recovers well.

So I went up to Tyler's school on my lunch hour to take his library books that I forgot to send to his dad's for library day tomorrow. When I got there, he was in the office. :headache: He's been there every day except 1 in the last almost 2 weeks.

This week was the worst for him this school year. One day he gave somebody a bloody mouth on the playground, one day he punched a boy in the face in music class, one day he punched a girl in the stomach in Spanish class, he has threatened to beat up the teachers when they try to calm him down, and today he tackled his best friend and grabbed his head & banged it on the floor and told him he's going to kill him. I'm very shocked his mom didn't call me about this.

Most days this week he's had an in-school suspension (just for one day at a time). The principal told me he would have been suspended by the 2nd week of school, BUT she says he's so smart, she wants him there keeping up with his schoolwork. So she made sort of a hideout for him in her office, under a table with a table cloth that hides him. It's calming for him, he does his work under there and then they have long, in-depth conversations. She tells me that after every incident, he tells her how much he hates himself for doing those things and he says he's so stupid for not being able to stop doing that stuff. He says he likes his friends and would never want to hurt anybody and doesn't know why he does those things. :sad2:

So I called his dad on my way back to work and updated him. I told him it's time to call the psychiatrist back and ask what we should do. He freaked out and told me, "Oh great, and next thing you know, he'll want to increase his meds". Since I'm learning that dad always ends up doing the right thing, I handled him differently. I didn't yell or argue or get snotty about it with him, I just told him, "Well, he needs to know what's been happening so he can be updated on how things are going for Tyler". He told me to tell him what the Dr. says.

So I called the psychiatrist and told him all that and asked what we should do. Our next appointment isn't until the end of October (because we just had a med check last week), but he told me we need to increase the dose just a little and see what happens. He's currently taking 1/2 of a .25mg pill in the morning and again at bedtime, so he told me to bump the morning dose up to the whole .25mg pill and keep the 1/2 pill at bedtime. And he wants me and his dad (without Tyler) to come in a week from today to talk about all this because that's the earliest appointment he has.

I emailed his dad this and he told responded that he's not sure increasing the dose is the right thing to do, but that he'll do it starting with tomorrow morning's dose. He didn't argue with me a bit! AND he didn't copy the Ice Queen on our email discussions. Interesting.

Anyway, lots of good luck wishes please for a better day tomorrow for Tyler to help boost his self-esteem.

Holly, :grouphug: for you and Tyler. I hope the increase in the meds does the job for the little chap!

Wow Woody. You are doing a major trip this time. How exciting. I was only just wondering where you were too. I wasn't expecting it to be Hong Kong!!!:lmao: Continue to enjoy your great trip.

:rotfl2: Good morning Marilyn! Sorry nobody's here to chat with you. I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello, and am now headed to the show and will rush to work. My last day of covering for my coworker who's on vacation. :yay:

Good Morning Marilyn and Holly. Where are Deborah and Ian?

Holly, I hope you get a good report today from Tyler's school now that his dad is going to increase his meds this morning. You're doing a great job remaining patient and giving it the time it takes to get the right balance. Anytime you're faced with new questions, asking the doctor is the right thing to do. Just like everyone, including you, told me to do about my legs. You are right.

I hope your work day goes smoothly today.....busy enough to keep you going, but not overwhelmingly crazy. Wishing you well with the transition from the old job to the new. And YEA that it's Friday!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Deb!

I did see Deborah post this morning.

It will be overwhelmingly busy today at work, I already know that. I was unable to tackle any work piles after lunch because I was on the phone almost nonstop confirming things for today and cancelling things and scheduling other things, etc. AND the busiest attorney will be in the office all day today creating more piles. I'll definitely be working tomorrow too just so his secretary doesn't come back from vacation to a total nightmare of piles.

I'm going to call and leave a message for Tyler's principal and let her know what the result was from my call to the psychiatrist yesterday.

Deborah, if you're still here, I forgot to tell you to have a great weekend! You'll enjoy yourself much better this time since you're not volunteering! :goodvibes

Oh, I finally discovered why I sometimes mix up your and Deb's names. I know too many of you to keep straight! There's Deborah and Deb on here. I have a friend I've known since 1st grade named Debbi, and a new attorney at work is Debra. It's all confusing!

Off I go, have a great day EVERYBODY!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Welcome to my world.....that's how I felt all through growing up!!!!!

Every class I had from kindergarden to graduation, there was always 4 to 6 Debbie's in the class. My mom told me that the year I was born, every girl was named after Debbie Reynolds......including me.....how original!

Thanks Deb!

Dah.....I must be still asleep!

Hi Deb, Holly and Marilyn
