Deb, great pictures, you look beautiful! :goodvibes

Ian, great pictures from you too, I LOVE, LOVE your kitchen, especially your cabinets!

I forgot to mention that I received an email to tell me that I had been selected to take part in the Playstation 3 Home beta test.

Home is sort of like the virtual reality game "Second Life."

I now have a studio apartment overlooking a harbor and I've created an online persona.

Frankly, I don't see the point of it. So far, I've gone bowling and hung out at the mall. Apparently some people must have headsets, because I can hear their conversation.

It all seems pretty pointless, although bowling is fun.

I suspect that this is where the rubber meets the road as far as age goes. I just find it pretty boring.

I would also think that this virtual world would be structured to put together people of a similar age group. I find some of it and the conversations rather dubious.

I also think that some of these young people are a bit odd and just need to get out in the fresh air.

Next year if everyone shows up, we'll be in the front and back parlor (otherwise known as the living room and the room that used to be the dining room before the remodel but is now the den).

I'm thinking we may have about 16 next year.

The extra tables will have to come out.

& the camp chairs... I'm gonna have to pack mine...

What year do you think it is? I think it's about 1964, although one of the nun's dress is sort of short. When was Vatican II? About '64? Maybe it's a little later like 1967?

What does Barb think? Do you and Barb know how to carbon date nuns?

426104299_cHGJh-M.jpg

It's in the 60's... I had nuns that wore the long habits and that was in the late 60's - early 70's... but I'd say probably early to mid 60's... I have to go back and look and see if any of those are Sr. Sebastian...

I think it's for the youth who don't ever want to leave the house and need to explore the world that way...

Just think... they will never see a rainbow that isn't digital... :sad2:

Well, I talked to my father for the first time since he's been hospitalized (he didn't have a phone for most of it...being in ICU and all...) He's back in the hospital and he sounds HORRIBLE... Not even like him. He says he can't stand and he's in alot of pain. They have gotten him up but according to my sister and my step mother all he is interested in doing is sleeping. They are supposed to move him to a skilled nursing facility on Monday...

My sister says he's just not trying. I think he's just given up.

sounds nice have a good dinner.

hi Holly, sounds like you had a nice time with your parents.

we are off soon for dinner.

talk with you guys tomorrow.
Hi Nan! I hope you have a wonderful DIS meet! Sounds fun! :goodvibes

I did have a nice time with my mom, but forgot to mention the argument when I was at my dad's house. I called my stepmom crazy and we got into it a bit. ;) She asked what Tyler wants for Christmas and I reminded her that he already told them when they came to our house a couple days after Halloween. She told me she only remembers him saying he wanted a Star Wars light saber. I told her that's right, it's really all he wants. She about had a fit because she said that just won't work because she spends $100 on each grandchild for Christmas. I told her that's insane and no child needs $100 worth of gifts from one couple! She said "Well, we can't just give him one thing" and I asked why not? I told her if everybody gets him just one item, he'll still wind up with a mountain of great gifts, so one is just fine.

She asked, "Well what did you get for Christmas when you were a kid?" I told her times were different back then and we're not talking about what I'm getting. I didn't have much as a kid, so Christmas was a major deal and a time for getting tons of stuff. Tyler has everything and MORE than what he needs right now, so he just doesn't need or have room for, or even want much. He even tells everybody all he wants is a light saber and a pirate ship, that's it! He tells everybody he still likes everything he already has and doesn't want more.

She mentioned that she spent $100 on one of his cousins by just buying 2 Barbies and a bunch of outfits. I told her I've seen Barbies for $6 at Walmart, what was her problem? :rotfl2: She told me that the cousin only likes the pricey ones. I told her that's not something she should be proud to encourage in a child. :rotfl:

I ended up telling her a wonderful gift would be a savings bond for Tyler to use when he's in college and short on funds. She told me he won't appreciate it now because he won't have as much to open. I told her he certainly would appreciate it as long as we explain to him what it is and what it's for. He'll think it's a cool gift because that's just the kind of kid he is. She ended up totally flustered and angry and said, "FINE! He just gets a stupid light saber and the rest will get put on a gift card." :lmao: Well, FINE with me, he can use that gift card next time he needs bigger clothes. :thumbsup2 And he LOVES shopping with gift cards and always puts any he receives into his wallet to save for when he needs something or just wants something.

UGGGHHHH! :headache: BUT........I had a nice, relaxing time at my mom's afterwards. :thumbsup2

Holly...

Let her get the light saber and then suggest that maybe she get a few other SMALL things for him to open... I'm sure he'll be thrilled with whatever it is - even if it's not $100.

Don't argue about it... Just let her do it... it's not worth killing your holiday over...

I got it.. he loves clothes... get him some clothes he might like...

It's just not cool when they get him as much stuff or maybe more than Santa does. :sad2: Oh well, when he questioned this before, I just reminded him that Santa has to give gifts to all the kids in the world, grandpa & grandma only have to give to 4 kids.

My mom sent something really cool home with me for Tyler. Her bank gave it to her and she doesn't want it. It's a tri-fold thingy, sort of like a book, with little plastic sleeves to collect and display all the President dollar coins. And it has a book attached inside the front that has a two-page summary of each president, through the current Bush. Tyler's so into history and enjoys learning about the presidents, I asked her if I could take it for him. But then I told her I'd never even heard of the President dollar coins and she asked, "Where the heck have you been, woman?" :rotfl2: So she gave me his first 2, to be give to him by the tooth fairy since she'll be making a visit soon. Well, in a couple weeks maybe.

I very rarely cry. Not because I don't feel things, and not because I try to hide it, it's just the way I was made. Well, tonight's 20/20 show got me. It was a story about a boy's journey through diagnosis of a brain tumor and radiation and chemo and recovery at St. Jude's Hospital. He beat an aggressive tumor that the doctors said almost nobody survives. If I'd known ahead of time it was on, I would have taped it for Tyler because he really likes hearing about the things St. Jude does for kids. He so loves the St. Jude's bike-a-thon each year and tries to get as many sponsors as possible because when he was in pre-school before even starting kindergarten, the teachers showed the kids a video sent from St. Jude's about what they do for kids and he was so struck by it. And the show tonight reminded me that his karate school is doing a board break-a-thon for St. Jude's Sat 12/13, so I have to remember to ask his dad if he can go and take the form to work. I can't believe I forgot all about it. :guilty:

So I'm done with laundry for today, done cleaning for today, done rearranging my bedroom, finished a 2nd plate of leftovers, have nothing left to watch on TV, and nobody's on here! :sad1:

I suppose I could go have some leftover pie and see if anybody shows up. Probably everybody's exhausted from family stuff, lots of yummy food, and lots of shopping. :thumbsup2

Marilyn, I didn't make it back on time today to say goodbye to you, so if you manage to pop on here, I just want to tell you I hope you have a wonderful vacation! :cool1:

Small world....Paul is working on this project, in licensing job at Sony. He says there is WAY more to come but if he told you he'd have to shoot you.

It is so funny to hear Paul talk about it, because he is so totally clueless what the pull is to these games. Well, I can tell ya first hand that they are a "perfect" world that you get to control everything in and that there is much sucess and enjoyment to that for some people. :rolleyes1 Like me and Wilson. I hope that we will get something for him being there, maybe a play station left over or something like that...he gave me the employee price list the other day, it was 5 pages long with really little font so I didn't even start to look at it. Once I get into it I'm afraid I'll be a lost cause. He told me the hardware isn't that great a discount but the software is suppose to be pretty good.

yup she was leased up to the trailer and barking at everyone that walked by.

I'm watching a mini series I think from UK, Five Days. Seen it? Scary about a mom that goes missing with her kids in the car and then her daughter is abducted on the way walking home :scared1:

Why do I pick these scary shows????

Our turkey sandwhiches were great.

Paul is stomping around the house saying that he is old and he had an aching body...so sad to get old...:rolleyes1

Lol you picked scarey film:scared1: I don't know if I see it? I will ask my friend

I have new dvd Sex in the City and Mamma Mia :woohoo: trouble I have not got the times for it .....:sad2:

HEY everybody! :goodvibes I'm back! Things weren't as bad as I expected at my dad's, dinner was yummy, I'm about to fix my plate of leftovers as soon as I finish this post! :thumbsup2

I was at my dad's about 3 and 1/2 hours, then went to my mom's just in time to watch Survivor with her. I had one beer and she had a few glasses of wine, a friend of hers stopped over on his way home from a dinner, it was a good time. She roped me into watching a bunch of shows she's become hooked on since retiring. Good grief, there sure are some nutty shows around! ;) We stayed up until about 1am chatting, until I could barely hold my head up anymore.

We both slept in until about noon today! She sent me home with some Christmas decorations she picked up for me on clearance last year after Christmas, and I stopped on my way home for a bit of shopping. I figured it was late enough in the day that all the crazy early morning shoppers should be done, and sure enough, no crowds at all. Picked up a few things for Tyler for Christmas, and a bunch of clothes for myself, and a cute lavender dresser for my bedroom (I have lavender walls with white trim around my windows and white doors). So now I'm rearranging my bedroom, doing laundry, and about to take a break for supper.

Will come back later to read the 2 pages I missed while gone.

Holly

I am glad you back now and I missed your chat lol ::yes::

glad to heard that you had a good times.

Oh Gaylean, if you were shopping in my area, you would have been too late because people started camping outside of Best Buy and other stores on WEDNESDAY! The news showed all the tents lined up and the store provided them with a port-a-potty. CRAZY! :scared1:

Holly

I never heard Black Friday as I realised that sales on after thanksgiving :scared1: As 5 ladies and I are going to New York on last week November next year so I will bring it up at ladies about it.

Next year if everyone shows up, we'll be in the front and back parlor (otherwise known as the living room and the room that used to be the dining room before the remodel but is now the den).

I'm thinking we may have about 16 next year.

The extra tables will have to come out.

Ian

I will have 12 people plus kids on Xmas day :santa:

Hope the cooking go well ::yes::

I was reading about your turkey and I know it is not easy to know if cooking or half cooking.

I bet you glad it is over??? What about Xmas:santa:

Well, I talked to my father for the first time since he's been hospitalized (he didn't have a phone for most of it...being in ICU and all...) He's back in the hospital and he sounds HORRIBLE... I plan to see it again this weekend too. Glad to hear the books are on tape. We took our sister-in-lawl to the movie and now she wants to read the books, but really has more time for listening to them during her commute.

Turkey dinner was yummy, even the Costco green beans! Peg and Jose have gone for a walk so I'd thought I'd pop in here. Faith keeps coming to the chair and pawing me...I think she understood Peg when I said I'm not waiting for them to get back before I dig into the PIE!

Oh..,..now she's 'sassing' me. Better go make us some pie. :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, you can get the CD's at the library, but I've been on hold for several months for books 3 & 4. As always there is so much left out of the movie, like the fact that she faints at the sight of blood! Which I think is one of the funniest parts about her. BTW anyone reading this, I'm not giving away any secrets here.

no worries it did and it was fabulous.

thanks for sharing pics Ian & Deb.

Will and Paul did a black friday at walgreens to get a two for one webkins for Molly's xmas gift from her brother. We'll see if he hides it or doesn't tell her :rolleyes1

Now finishing my starbucks (from my darling hubby) and getting dressed to PLANT TULIPS!!!! Only ~500 or so this year, just didn't have enough of what I wanted at Costco and I was too lazy to go to another one to find the rest. Molly and I picked pink this year, something different. Then Paul gets to be a plumber since my shower head broke yesterday, he got a new one when out with Willie at Home Depot, I'll have to ask him how that was.

To all the brave the crowds, have fun, I'm not leaving my house for the rest of the day....unless we decided to catch a movie:rolleyes1

Oh, yeah the kids have a party at 3pm, I'll have to leave for that and then we have a DIS dinner with some friends from our NYE cruise. We've been talking for about 18 months now (same as when we booked our repo) and we are finally meeting. They live in Gilroy just an hour away, but never had a chance to get our calendars right so it should be fun. And of course TURKEY Sandwhiches for Lunch YUM!!!!

Thanks for the reminder. I never see those at Costco. I was going to ask you to remind me. But you would plant earlier than us anyway (I think) - we just had 2 inches of rain (1/10th of our annual rain in 2 days) now it will be 80 degrees tomorrow.

Here's the famous Bitty Baby Birthday Party Gang

Are the little girls wearing velcro on their shoes or ties? that will tell us a lot.

So, by T-day morning Zoe was feeling better (no fever and no stomach, and minimum throat), but not great. By noon we decided she was well enough to go to the Grand Ballroom, but we would go straight home instead of our usual hangouts at the fireplace at the GC and visiting friends. So, here are some pics:

While I'm posting pictures - this is the filming of the Xmas day parade show. Zoe and I will be right up front for Jose Feliciano - ABC Xmas morning. We'll have red mickey ears on. It was 90 degrees that day
