Yes we do things a little different here in sunny CaliforniaWe have to place them into cold storage (refrigerator) for 6+ weeks and then plant. We do this every year. In hopes that the first blossom will come by Valentines Day. If we plant much later the spring weather will toast them and then we don't get to enjoy them as much. I know you folks in a colder climate get to re-enjoy them every year, by leaving them in the ground. We have to work for it
Since it is such an effort I always buy new bulbs every year, usually about 1,000 tulips and then a bunch of daffodils (which can stay in the ground from year to year and do rebloom) this year I had 540 tulips (they were bags of 60 not 50 like I thought) and I ran out and got 320 daffodils to supplement my low tulip count. Pictures after lunch, I'm in making sandwhiches while they finish up the last of the shovels full of dirt.

We stayed up until about 1am chatting, until I could barely hold my head up anymore.

I'll try and remember my camera so I can show you just how crazy it gets.
