DEB! Look how great you look!!!!

Glad you had a nice time! :goodvibes

Hey Ian... didn't your mom email you for your "holiday" list last year???

Kaleigh was just happily singing "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down". Its on a CD I've been playing in the van this week. She has asked why I don't give them a spoonful of sugar when they get medicine :lmao:

Deb - glad you enjoyed your day :goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Skip the chocolate factory - it's a waste of time!

Do the tour of Gibraltor - it cost the 3 of us $70 and took us everywhere! We got off the ship and walked down the long line of cabs and found a driver we liked(the cabs towards the end of the line you can bargain with more) Don't do the DCL tour because you miss some of the details and the buses can't get to all the places so you are spending time walking that you could be seeing! This was our favorite stop!!!

Cadiz is wonderful - if you have time do the double decker bus tour. It takes about an hour and is excellent. The bus stop is outside the port and cost about $5. You can hop off and on as you want but we did the entire tour and then decided where we wanted to get off.

Thanks for the tips Gydell!

The mouse traps I set last night went untouched.....well, that's not entirely true, the cheese is GONE from each trap. :headache: Tonight I'm trying peanut butter again. As Tyler was sitting on the floor putting his shoes on, we both watched in shock while a mouse ran across the floor right past him! GROSS!!!! I keep finding empty poison packets but also still mice. I'm wondering how many are here. Tyler's hoping a bunch of traps snap overnight because I told him I'll give him $5 for every mouse if he disposes of each one for me (I have plastic gloves for him to wear). He'll also have to be the one to check the traps in the morning because it just grosses me out. I told my mom about all of this when we were at the Christmas parade tonight. She told me they're in the walls and that I'll have a hard time getting rid of them. I almost cried. I think I need to get an exterminator. But I wonder what more they would do, other than put out poison and traps? This is just disgusting. :sad2:

 Holly, I'm sorry you are having such a horrible time trying to get rid of those rodents! Wish I could wave my magic wand and make them all dissappear :wizard:

Kathe: Gydell makes a good arguement for sharing a cab (I wanted to anyways) I'm now brave enough to go without DCL so the rock adventrue for us sounds good. the sherry tasting isn't up "our" alley and I'll have to look into the rest of your suggestions. I do know we are going to want to go to the Park in Barcelona - Willie had a great time seeing it last time and I know he'd love to revisit that. :thumbsup2

Nan, I hope we can share the rock adventure too! I would definately share a cab with you guys, I just won't do it alone, not quite that brave! The bus in Cadiz sounds like fun too.

Deb - glad you enjoyed your day :goodvibes

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

And how did you answer her Shannon?

Deb, I'm glad you enjoyed your day too :goodvibes You do look great!

FOUR mice down. But.....it's got to be more than that because those are just the ones snapped in the trap (also a tail from another one). I put out 6 poison packets and 5 of those have disappeared. So I'm assuming at least 5 mice took them, so that would be at least 9 mice! I hope I'm making a dent in their family. At least they're closer to being gone. I'm really hoping the ones that ate the poison found their way outside before dying.

 Holly, I'm sorry you are having such a horrible time trying to get rid of those rodents! Wish I could wave my magic wand and make them all dissappear :wizard:
Thanks Kathe. This is my first time dealing with it, so it's all new and very unpleasant. I told my dad about it on the phone today and wanted to cry, it's just so gross.

About this time last night, I was hearing mouse squeaks coming from under my stove. I haven't heard or seen anything today (other than the ones dead in the traps), and I usually see them start running around by 9 or 10pm, so I'm cautiously optimistic that there aren't many left.

I had a very interesting email from my grandmother today:

"Hi Ian,

Hey, how is life going? What are you doing that you love just now?

I hear that there is lots of snow in Washington mountains; sounds as if skiing will be wonderful this year.

I need your help in choosing a Christmas gift for you this year. Please send me a list with some details (size, color, source if clothes) other details if it is something else. It may take a little work on google but at least you will get something you like. The sooner that I get the list the better.

I miss you.

Love,
Granny
"

I found it surprising, that she sent me an email, considering that she's:

a) Dead since 1963
b) Didn't speak English

I think that being dead she had time on her hands and apparently took night courses in English.

It appears that there is some new email scam afoot. They probably want people to respond so they can validate that it's a valid address.

Not quite sure what their nefarious intentions are.

Very strange!

Deb - you look fabulous!!!

Another fun day today (except for dealing with the mice). After breakfast, while I dozed on the couch for a while, Tyler was thrilled that I told him he could take over all my fish tanks on Fish World because I never play it anymore. He had fun getting rid of all my stuff and decorating a couple tanks all over again. We went to lunch at a place called the Pita Pit (very yummy!), then went to the Festival of Trees. I wanted to bid on the Disney tree (which comes with $900 of Disney games and toys and stuffed animals and decorations, etc.) but the bid was already up to $300, WAAAAAAY out of my price range.

We came home for supper and then headed to the YMCA for roller blading and swimming for a couple hours. :goodvibes Tyler can finally swim (a little bit)! He went about 15 feet each time he tried. He wants to go on the water slide so badly, it's great motivation for him to push himself to swim farther and farther because to use the slide, they require kids under 10 to pass a swim test all the way down one lane and then swim on their back coming back. I doubt I could even swim that far.

Then we got our Scout popcorn so we can make our deliveries tomorrow, then he played more FishWorld before bed. :thumbsup2

Hey Holly...

Just a thought.. if you do have to get an exterminator... you might want to try talking to the landlord of the house next door since your problems came from their tennants... maybe they'll help out with it...

Well that is very odd.

Back in the saddle again. I'm leading my two Sunday morning WW meetings this morning. I had a bit of a break there for two weeks when I couldn't lead the meetings because of my normal work.

The Nesco Roaster Affair

Yesterday I had a bit of a disaster with the new Nesco Roaster. It has been a ecommerce that's been going on for over 3 weeks.

The item I ordered was (and still is) mislabeled and represented on the site. I decided I would keep the model they sent me, but only pay for the lesser value model. It took 2.5 weeks of phone calls to get a $30 credit issued.

Yesterday, I decided to test the roaster's temperature calibration using an oven thermometer. It was about 100F degrees off. Not trivial. I had really had it.

In the morning during our shopping trips at Costco I bought a Hamilton Beach 22 quart roaster for only $39, half the price of the Nesco. I took the Nesco back to Carson Pirier Scott to do the return, rather than doing it via UPS.

It was quite a big deal at the department store, since they could not pull up the right information, all because of the $30 credit adjustment that had been made to the price.

The people in the store's customer service were excellent, and finally refunded my money, but they refunded the entire retail value of the roaster, ignoring the fact that I used a 10% discount code when I bought it online, and ignoring the fact that I had been given a $30 credit.

They way they were looking at each other I think they were fully aware of what they were doing, because they had become pretty fed up with the incompetency of the ecommerce staff they had on the phone.

I was extremely calm and polite through everything.

So in the end, I had paid $89 for the roaster, and had received a $30 credit to my credit card, paying a net of $59. After the transaction yesterday, they refunded $98 to my credit card, and I still had the $30 credit, so I had in all been refunded $129 for something I originally paid $89.

I bought a new Hamilton Beach Roaster at Costco for $39, which ended up costing me nothing. As a matter of face, I came out with $1 more in my pocket than when the whole incident started.

Good old Carson's, they are one of my favorite department stores. The ironic part of the story is that normally they don't carry big items like roasters, but yesterday, in the store they had a big display of them because of the holiday.

My temperature calibration tests are compete with the Hamilton Beach, I've determined that it runs 25F degrees hotter than the markings, but that's OK. I understand that, better than being over 100 degrees under what the markings say.

So, now the electrics testing portion of Eastwood Manor's Thanksgiving is competed. This afternoon begins the first of the food prep.

Ian, you do have some adventures don't you?:lmao: At least you were paid for that one. How funny.

Wow Ian, nothing ever seems to go smoothly for you! But what a great deal you ended up with.....very nice! :thumbsup2

A relaxing day so far. :goodvibes I've been lounging around, dozing on and off on the couch while Spongebob was playing and Tyler was building different creations with Legos. Now he's into a movie on the Disney channel, "Princess Protection Program". After I get out of the shower, we're headed out to deliver popcorn on our way to the movie theater to see Disney's "Christmas Carol" in 3-D at the IMAX! :yay: Then we're hoping to get a little time at the pool at the YMCA before I drop him at his dad's. :thumbsup2

It's another beautiful, sunny day! People were wearing shorts yesterday! We had t-shirts and the windows down in the car. Very nice!

Don't anybody faint...but I've actually done a little housework this morning! I found my kitchen! Now I can stock it and start cooking and packing lunches! I think I had about 25 packets of plastic forks and napkins from assorted 'to go' ventures. :sad2:

Saw New Moon yesterday and enjoyed it (especially as I am "Team Jacob"). I was AMAZED at the number of little kids in the theater. We were at an 11:30AM showing and the number of kids under 10 was surprising. I'm thinking mom couldn't get dad to watch the little ones while SHE came to the movie! Goodness knows there were no teenagers available to babysit as they were all at the movies.

.

Here's me and John out at the birthday dinner tonight. It was very nice. We bought some wine and mulling spices too. I love the smell in the air for the holidays. John warms the wine with the spices in the crock pot. He adds sliced almonds and fruit. It's so good.

Can you find my hidden Mickey?

Just wanted to say how absolutely stunning you look, Deb!!!

It was Richard's birthday yesterday and we spent it with his family in a lovely old Oxford hotel...

Well, its a tense Sunday morning for us as we watch to see if the Lions make it to the Grey Cup. Its really not looking good as they have a mere 10 points to the Alouettes 31, but there's still lots of time left to turn it around.:goodvibes

Kathe - I never did answer Kaleigh's question about sugar with her medicine, but I'm sure she'll ask again some day.

Kaz - Happy belated Birthday to Richard!

Holly - Princess Protection Program has been popular at my house. Here's some trivia for you - both girls in the movie were on Barney when they were kids and are friends in real life. Thanks to 2 girls, I'm very familiar with Selena and Demi :lmao:

Ian - I enjoyed your story of the great roaster mess up :lmao:

Jackie - good to know you enjoyed the movie. I'm off to see it this evening. I finally watched the first one last weekend and wasn't too thrilled with it. I enjoyed the book much more.

Well, its half-time now, and I'm off to cut up the snacks for later. I don't need anything now as I had my new favourite version of pancakes already today (pancakes with peanut butter in the batter, then banana slices and walnuts added to them on the griddle, so they cook right into them, top with a little margarine and eat! No yucky syrup needed :goodvibes)
