Kaleigh was just happily singing "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down". Its on a CD I've been playing in the van this week. She has asked why I don't give them a spoonful of sugar when they get medicine
Deb - glad you enjoyed your day![]()
Skip the chocolate factory - it's a waste of time!
Do the tour of Gibraltor - it cost the 3 of us $70 and took us everywhere! We got off the ship and walked down the long line of cabs and found a driver we liked(the cabs towards the end of the line you can bargain with more) Don't do the DCL tour because you miss some of the details and the buses can't get to all the places so you are spending time walking that you could be seeing! This was our favorite stop!!!
Cadiz is wonderful - if you have time do the double decker bus tour. It takes about an hour and is excellent. The bus stop is outside the port and cost about $5. You can hop off and on as you want but we did the entire tour and then decided where we wanted to get off.
The mouse traps I set last night went untouched.....well, that's not entirely true, the cheese is GONE from each trap.Tonight I'm trying peanut butter again. As Tyler was sitting on the floor putting his shoes on, we both watched in shock while a mouse ran across the floor right past him! GROSS!!!! I keep finding empty poison packets but also still mice. I'm wondering how many are here. Tyler's hoping a bunch of traps snap overnight because I told him I'll give him $5 for every mouse if he disposes of each one for me (I have plastic gloves for him to wear). He'll also have to be the one to check the traps in the morning because it just grosses me out. I told my mom about all of this when we were at the Christmas parade tonight. She told me they're in the walls and that I'll have a hard time getting rid of them. I almost cried. I think I need to get an exterminator. But I wonder what more they would do, other than put out poison and traps? This is just disgusting.

Kathe: Gydell makes a good arguement for sharing a cab (I wanted to anyways) I'm now brave enough to go without DCL so the rock adventrue for us sounds good. the sherry tasting isn't up "our" alley and I'll have to look into the rest of your suggestions. I do know we are going to want to go to the Park in Barcelona - Willie had a great time seeing it last time and I know he'd love to revisit that.![]()

Thanks Kathe. This is my first time dealing with it, so it's all new and very unpleasant. I told my dad about it on the phone today and wanted to cry, it's just so gross.Holly, I'm sorry you are having such a horrible time trying to get rid of those rodents! Wish I could wave my magic wand and make them all dissappear

I had a very interesting email from my grandmother today:
"Hi Ian,
Hey, how is life going? What are you doing that you love just now?
I hear that there is lots of snow in Washington mountains; sounds as if skiing will be wonderful this year.
I need your help in choosing a Christmas gift for you this year. Please send me a list with some details (size, color, source if clothes) other details if it is something else. It may take a little work on google but at least you will get something you like. The sooner that I get the list the better.
I miss you.
Love,
Granny"
I found it surprising, that she sent me an email, considering that she's:
a) Dead since 1963
b) Didn't speak English
I think that being dead she had time on her hands and apparently took night courses in English.
It appears that there is some new email scam afoot. They probably want people to respond so they can validate that it's a valid address.
Not quite sure what their nefarious intentions are.
Hey Holly...
Just a thought.. if you do have to get an exterminator... you might want to try talking to the landlord of the house next door since your problems came from their tennants... maybe they'll help out with it...![]()

Wow Ian, nothing ever seems to go smoothly for you! But what a great deal you ended up with.....very nice!Back in the saddle again. I'm leading my two Sunday morning WW meetings this morning. I had a bit of a break there for two weeks when I couldn't lead the meetings because of my normal work.
The Nesco Roaster Affair
Yesterday I had a bit of a disaster with the new Nesco Roaster. It has been a ecommerce that's been going on for over 3 weeks.
The item I ordered was (and still is) mislabeled and represented on the site. I decided I would keep the model they sent me, but only pay for the lesser value model. It took 2.5 weeks of phone calls to get a $30 credit issued.
Yesterday, I decided to test the roaster's temperature calibration using an oven thermometer. It was about 100F degrees off. Not trivial. I had really had it.
In the morning during our shopping trips at Costco I bought a Hamilton Beach 22 quart roaster for only $39, half the price of the Nesco. I took the Nesco back to Carson Pirier Scott to do the return, rather than doing it via UPS.
It was quite a big deal at the department store, since they could not pull up the right information, all because of the $30 credit adjustment that had been made to the price.
The people in the store's customer service were excellent, and finally refunded my money, but they refunded the entire retail value of the roaster, ignoring the fact that I used a 10% discount code when I bought it online, and ignoring the fact that I had been given a $30 credit.
They way they were looking at each other I think they were fully aware of what they were doing, because they had become pretty fed up with the incompetency of the ecommerce staff they had on the phone.
I was extremely calm and polite through everything.
So in the end, I had paid $89 for the roaster, and had received a $30 credit to my credit card, paying a net of $59. After the transaction yesterday, they refunded $98 to my credit card, and I still had the $30 credit, so I had in all been refunded $129 for something I originally paid $89.
I bought a new Hamilton Beach Roaster at Costco for $39, which ended up costing me nothing. As a matter of face, I came out with $1 more in my pocket than when the whole incident started.
Good old Carson's, they are one of my favorite department stores. The ironic part of the story is that normally they don't carry big items like roasters, but yesterday, in the store they had a big display of them because of the holiday.
My temperature calibration tests are compete with the Hamilton Beach, I've determined that it runs 25F degrees hotter than the markings, but that's OK. I understand that, better than being over 100 degrees under what the markings say.
So, now the electrics testing portion of Eastwood Manor's Thanksgiving is competed. This afternoon begins the first of the food prep.
Here's me and John out at the birthday dinner tonight. It was very nice. We bought some wine and mulling spices too. I love the smell in the air for the holidays. John warms the wine with the spices in the crock pot. He adds sliced almonds and fruit. It's so good.
Can you find my hidden Mickey?
