Jackie - good to know you enjoyed the movie. I'm off to see it this evening. I finally watched the first one last weekend and wasn't too thrilled with it. I enjoyed the book much more.
)

I think you'll enjoy New Moon more than Twilight. Liked this director better and the story follows the book very well. While this was not most peoples favorite book of the four, I think they did a good job. It's hard to turn a book into a 2 hour movie and make everybody happy, but most the audience seemed pleased with this one.

I heard the budget for New Moon was quite a bit bigger than for Twilight. I never expect to enjoy a movie as much as the book. I think so much of these books was about her emotions and that's hard to put into the movie.

Well, its a tense Sunday morning for us as we watch to see if the Lions make it to the Grey Cup. Its really not looking good as they have a mere 10 points to the Alouettes 31, but there's still lots of time left to turn it around.:goodvibes

Is that the Earl Grey Cup?

So I picked up a tee shirt at the winery last night and it says:

"Men are like grapes....if you stomp on them, keep them in the dark and wait for them to mature....you can turn them into something you would like to have dinner with!"

Me and John both laughed so hard. I had to have it.

Back in the saddle again. I'm leading my two Sunday morning WW meetings this morning. I had a bit of a break there for two weeks when I couldn't lead the meetings because of my normal work.

The Nesco Roaster Affair

Yesterday I had a bit of a disaster with the new Nesco Roaster. It has been a ecommerce that's been going on for over 3 weeks.

The item I ordered was (and still is) mislabeled and represented on the site. I decided I would keep the model they sent me, but only pay for the lesser value model. It took 2.5 weeks of phone calls to get a $30 credit issued.

Yesterday, I decided to test the roaster's temperature calibration using an oven thermometer. It was about 100F degrees off. Not trivial. I had really had it.

In the morning during our shopping trips at Costco I bought a Hamilton Beach 22 quart roaster for only $39, half the price of the Nesco. I took the Nesco back to Carson Pirier Scott to do the return, rather than doing it via UPS.

It was quite a big deal at the department store, since they could not pull up the right information, all because of the $30 credit adjustment that had been made to the price.

The people in the store's customer service were excellent, and finally refunded my money, but they refunded the entire retail value of the roaster, ignoring the fact that I used a 10% discount code when I bought it online, and ignoring the fact that I had been given a $30 credit.

They way they were looking at each other I think they were fully aware of what they were doing, because they had become pretty fed up with the incompetency of the ecommerce staff they had on the phone.

I was extremely calm and polite through everything.

So in the end, I had paid $89 for the roaster, and had received a $30 credit to my credit card, paying a net of $59. After the transaction yesterday, they refunded $98 to my credit card, and I still had the $30 credit, so I had in all been refunded $129 for something I originally paid $89.

I bought a new Hamilton Beach Roaster at Costco for $39, which ended up costing me nothing. As a matter of face, I came out with $1 more in my pocket than when the whole incident started.

Good old Carson's, they are one of my favorite department stores. The ironic part of the story is that normally they don't carry big items like roasters, but yesterday, in the store they had a big display of them because of the holiday.

My temperature calibration tests are compete with the Hamilton Beach, I've determined that it runs 25F degrees hotter than the markings, but that's OK. I understand that, better than being over 100 degrees under what the markings say.

So, now the electrics testing portion of Eastwood Manor's Thanksgiving is competed. This afternoon begins the first of the food prep.

The QM just sets everything at 375 and sticks a meat thermometer in... 50 + years of trying works pretty good...

Wish me luck working (hopefully tomorrow morning) I figured I better have the rum waiting for me tomorrow night :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Did you let it slip to the new people that you are much more accurate with rum in your system?

GOOD LUCK!!! I'm sure you'll do just fine! :goodvibes

2nd day, no sight or sound of any mice. Still cautiously optimistic. Tyler told me "They're probably just hiding until you put the traps away". Not sure how many there were, but I know we got at least 9, so hopefully that's it. YUCK! I'll wait another couple days and if I still see no sign of them, I'll start disinfecting every room.

Disney's "Christmas Carol" was AWESOME!!! We've been to IMAX movies before, but this was our first 3-D movie. VERY COOL! There were quite a few scary parts, which Tyler even admitted, but he told me he still loved it. Then we stopped at the YMCA for about 1/2 hour of swimming before his dad picked him up.

Knock 'em dead. Just remember that it's temporary. Paul will be in demand again very soon. In the meantime, be social and have fun while doing a fabulous job.:cutie:

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH no sign of any mice. Let's hope it stays that way and this nightmare is over. Keep the rat poison on hand just in case they come back.

I'm so glad the movie was awesome. It's John's favorite story....he's such a scrooge. hahaha.:laughing:

Just wanted to say how absolutely stunning you look, Deb!!!

It was Richard's birthday yesterday and we spent it with his family in a lovely old Oxford hotel...

Thanks Kaz. It was a very nice time.

Happy Birthday to Richard. So glad you got to spend time with family in a beautiful setting.

::yes:: Earl Grey's cup ::yes::

Glad you enjoyed the movie! A friend told me the beginning was quite scary; her 4yo niece refused to stay in the theatre after the first 10 minutes. What did you think?

And in case you wondered, I really enjoyed New Moon! ::yes::
although one of the group I went with hadn't read the books and she had to ask a few questions. Definitely a few things that didn't make sense if you hadn't read the books. And Jacob looked good! ::yes::

While watching Twilight I was wondering how that 'little boy' was going to be able to mature enough for the next film. Lots of time in the gym seemed to do the job! There was an audible teenage reaction when he took his shirt off, which made the adults laugh.

.

There was that same audible reaction in our theatre too at that scene followed by a chuckle.
When we left the theatre one of my friends said we should all be arrested for having those thoughts about a 17yo! :lmao::lmao:

Nan, best wishes for today.

Me? I'm off to jury service. Hopefully I won't be picked, but I think I will be, so I will be quiet for a few days.:lmao:

Ladies... you dirty minds!!! Lusting after man candy... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nan... good luck today!!! (Don't tell them about the rum...)

Marilyn... mention you know us... that will get you out of most anything.. (although we're not quite sure about some foreign jails...)

Not that anyone's wondering... being I'm awake before Ian... (well... I'm online before him...)

I did sleep... 5 hours starting around 1 am... need to go and get a little bit more... hoping to get turned around for this weekend... I must drive to Jersey for an all important DISMEET!!! :dance3: :dance3::dance3:
