If they stop making ornaments & I'm in trouble... :rotfl:

This is the one I'm hoping to get this year...

Happy Friday!
It was long crazy day at work, but actually felt good to go to work. Shaelyn is back to normal. It hit her hard and fast, but she's bounced back quickly too!

Tonight was "midnight madness" for our local downtown stores, so we all went to do some Christmas shopping. We got the girls their ornaments for this year (they get a new one every year :) ) and I got a snowbabies dancing with polar bears one which is very cute. And we even managed to get a couple Christmas presents bought plus we got some ideas.

Ian - I hope you enjoy your weekend of Thanksgiving prep :goodvibes

Michelle - we want in on the Christmas list again ::yes::

Holly - I recommend calling an exterminator to get information and prices. Christmas is coming and you really want the classic line to be true (not a creature was stirring not even a mouse ;) )

Nan - you sound positive about the job choices :thumbsup2 Hope you get what you want.
Shannon, glad you had fun shopping! :thumbsup2

I plan on talking with an exterminator today. We have one in our neighborhood, 2 houses down. :thumbsup2

Shortly after I went to bed, before I fell asleep, I heard something in my room, sat up, and sure enough, a little mouse ran out.....but fortunately, he ran right towards a trap, so it was only a little while later when I heard the SNAP! We checked the rest of the traps and found another one in the kitchen and the tail of another, so one is running around with no tail. GROSS!!!

BUT.....at least we got 2. Lots more to go, I'm sure, but it's a start...and I'll go talk to the exterminator neighbor today. It was so disgusting though, and I almost threw up disposing of each one. Everybody told me it wouldn't be bloody, but these were. I seriously can't eat breakfast because it was so disgusting. :sad2:

Big doings around Eastwood Manor today. THE project plan has been printed off and will be invoked today.

Today is mega grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. Actually not that mega since we bought the nonperishables a few weeks ago.

Today is also the pilot test for the Nesco Roaster. Well a dry run, even has I write I have it fired up, with an oven thermometer inside of it so I can assess the temperature calibration, and then manually make adjustments based on the temperature markings and what the thermometer reads.

I woke up this morning as it out of a long dream that was this past week. Many of my co-workers were quite upset. A colleague who sits in the cube in front of me was told that she is expected to "always be on" and monitoring and responding to emails. Which to me seems quite stupid. There is vast difference between being busy and being productive.

I mean, I'm not opposed to hard work and long hours and weekend hours when there is a reason for it, but as a matter of course it's just ridiculous.

I really don't see how sending emails and generating work discussions at all hours is productive. Rather I view it is a bit unorganized and disruptive.

I'm not all that sure that Blackberries have really contributed to the quality of life for corporate mankind.

There is also the point that just because one can send an email any day or hour one likes, means one should send an email any day or hour one likes.

It seems to me like there are no social or privacy boundaries in this respect.

I mean, one probably can poop on the floor, it doesn't mean one should poop on the floor.

I'm just sitting here sipping on some Korbel Brut champagne....getting ready for an evening out to dinner with my baby. Hair is done, make up is done, evening bag is packed and tiara is in place. I just have to put contact lenses in and evening clothes on then I'm ready to run out the door. We're going to our local winery, Le Bistro, restaurant. It will be our first time at the restaurant. They just opened. We love the winery so it should be nice. Pictures to follow later.

Of course I want to do it all ;) but I am kind of thinking about the Caves and North Coast in Madeira, Jerez and Arcos de la Frontera in Cadiz (sherry tasting, yum!) and Montserrat in Barcelona. This would take up most of the day, but then I'd still have the evening to explore Barcelona :thumbsup2 Of course I want to do the Rock tour in Gibraltor, just not sure how I will manage this one yet, on my own or with the tour :confused3 I know it's cheaper on your own, but I won't take a taxi all by myself...now if I had someone to share it with :rolleyes1

Skip the chocolate factory - it's a waste of time!

Do the tour of Gibraltor - it cost the 3 of us $70 and took us everywhere! We got off the ship and walked down the long line of cabs and found a driver we liked(the cabs towards the end of the line you can bargain with more) Don't do the DCL tour because you miss some of the details and the buses can't get to all the places so you are spending time walking that you could be seeing! This was our favorite stop!!!

Cadiz is wonderful - if you have time do the double decker bus tour. It takes about an hour and is excellent. The bus stop is outside the port and cost about $5. You can hop off and on as you want but we did the entire tour and then decided where we wanted to get off.

Kathe: Gydell makes a good arguement for sharing a cab (I wanted to anyways) I'm now brave enough to go without DCL so the rock adventrue for us sounds good. the sherry tasting isn't up "our" alley and I'll have to look into the rest of your suggestions. I do know we are going to want to go to the Park in Barcelona - Willie had a great time seeing it last time and I know he'd love to revisit that. :thumbsup2

Three mice down, not sure how many to go, but I'll keep setting traps until they're GONE! Turns out cheese was a flop because they figured out how to take the piece of cheese without triggering the trap. :headache: So I switched to peanut butter and that did the trick. :thumbsup2 The good thing is that I'm getting over my mouse phobia and can almost pick up the trap and get rid of it without almost throwing up. When we went to the store to buy more (yes, I know snap traps are reusable, but no way am I doing that, yuck!), we found a live trap. It can hold 4, so we'll see how it works. Guess I'll have to take a long drive to release them, but we'll give it a try! :thumbsup2

Michelle - that ornament is cute!

Ian - I agree that expecting staff to be continually on is just wrong. People need downtime.

Deb - have a great time!

I had a very interesting email from my grandmother today:

"Hi Ian,

Hey, how is life going? What are you doing that you love just now?

I hear that there is lots of snow in Washington mountains; sounds as if skiing will be wonderful this year.

I need your help in choosing a Christmas gift for you this year. Please send me a list with some details (size, color, source if clothes) other details if it is something else. It may take a little work on google but at least you will get something you like. The sooner that I get the list the better.

I miss you.

Love,
Granny
"

I found it surprising, that she sent me an email, considering that she's:

a) Dead since 1963
b) Didn't speak English

I think that being dead she had time on her hands and apparently took night courses in English.

It appears that there is some new email scam afoot. They probably want people to respond so they can validate that it's a valid address.

Not quite sure what their nefarious intentions are.

Here's me and John out at the birthday dinner tonight. It was very nice. We bought some wine and mulling spices too. I love the smell in the air for the holidays. John warms the wine with the spices in the crock pot. He adds sliced almonds and fruit. It's so good.

Can you find my hidden Mickey?

Deb,

You are looking quite quite wonderful!

Deb, I have to second what Ian said. You are looking marvelous. I'm so proud of you. You are doing great. Hope the birthday dinner was nice for you and John.
My guess is in the picture, lower corner, is what looks to me like a mickey balloon.

Thanks you guys....that's so nice of you both to mention. I know that I have a long way to go, but I know now that it can be done and I'm determined to get there no matter how long it takes.

We did have a very nice time and dinner was delicious. Good guess on the hidden Mickey V....it does look a little like him.....but nope that's not it.

Keep guessing. One hint....they are both very small and hard to see....one on me and one on John. John's is even harder to see than mine....but keep looking.

Yours is at the top of your blouse and johns is his ring????

Ding Ding Ding....we have a winner....YES Bubba mine is on the top of my blouse and John's is NOT his ring....but you're very very hot. Keep looking at John's hand. It's very hard to see in this pic....but it's there.

Give up yet? It's really hard to see. Look at the face of John's watch. It's Mickey only he's upside down. ;)

Mine is a Swarovski crystal pin that's in the middle of all the beads on the blouse.

John is wearing a Mickey watch where Mickey faces him....with his hand like that in the picture, you see Mickey upside down.

They're both small and hard to see, but you did great Bubba!!! Tequila shot for you!!

Kaleigh was just happily singing "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down". Its on a CD I've been playing in the van this week. She has asked why I don't give them a spoonful of sugar when they get medicine :lmao:

Deb - glad you enjoyed your day :goodvibes
