Great news! Congrats Brian!![]()
Well done to Brian.(What uni is it??)
Good news on the college acceptance! Does it have to be LSU?![]()
I believe LSU is Louisianna State University.
YEAH for Brian. At least he'll have options....that's a good thing.
Don't worry Gydell... he probably won't go there- his first choices are Texas A&M and Penn State... I took him to see Siena while he was up here visiting... beautiful school... fills out all the requirments in what he was looking for in a school... but my sister took that one out of the running... I think she was afraid to have him too near ME for 4 years...

Will somebody please wake me when it's 5pm so I can go home?I've had absolutely nothing to do since before lunch. I even finished all the filing this morning. BOREDOM!!
Holly... wake up.. you're late for going home...

I think they will want to find water then crawl away to a dark place and die.
Don't look for them - it will be gross when you find it if you are looking or not just assume it's deadand gone

Great news!!!!! and Congrats!!!!
I'm still waiting to hear from my nephew to have him tell me that his son was born (6 weeks old now) I have to say I'm a bit pissed off that he and his wife didn't make any effort to call and tell either myself or my other sister
Family strife....
Keep your fingers crossed my job search has fired up in the last few days.
Had an interview yesterday will meet with the CEO Monday, also have a phone interview tomorrow for another job. I'm hoping for the first one to come thru - it's part time consulting (read high hourly rate) and it would be in the same space I'm used to technology![]()
Many good thoughts... pixie dust and everything else thrown in for good luck!!! You need any references???
I've got many appendages crossed for you!
Isn't that quite painful?
Today was my first day of staying away from the Internet completely while at work. No news, no nothing. I read my personal email on my iPhone during lunch.
We also had our annual benefits enrollment employee sessions today. It was of course different, because of the timing with the acquisition of our company last week.
Essentially we have all been hired en mass at the new company. The goofy thing is our year is a calendar year and their's begins in April. So, come March we will be going through an enrollment process all over again.
They are counting our hire dates at the old company towards our seniority. So that works out well for us.
A change was our 401Ks. We are all vested in our company matching, and we don't lose the matching from our old company, but when we go into the new plan in April, they have a stepped vesting over 5 years. The good thing about them counting my seniority is that I started with the old company in April of 2005, so I have 5 years this coming April.
The benefits are sort of comparable, but the PTO isn't not so much. At our old company I was able to carry over 10 unused days into the new year. For 2010 I can carry forward the 10 unused days I have in my PTO bank, but come 2011, the new rules apply which is a carry over of only 5 days. That's going to cramp my vacation plans a bit.
Another goofy rule that none of us are clear about is that we think we are not allow to accrue more than 10 days in the bank, so when you accrue 10 you have to use them or lose anything over 10. It would mean being forced to take days off based on the accrual rather than when you want to. I suppose they don't want the liability of more than 10 accrued days at a time.
None of us are sure about this rule and are not quite clear.
The other bad thing for me, is that due to the goofiness of my title change back last winter when I went from being a manager to a strategy role, I no longer qualify for a bonus.
Still, I think our executive team did an great job of negotiating and taking care of us when the sale was negotiated. That's the think I'm going to miss the most. Our leadership team had been really decent people and I'm going to really miss that.
It really is what it is, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a job, and extremely fortunate that I was kept on. That seems to be a mantra for most of us in our office these days.
We're all just a bit exhausted at work and a bit shell-shocked from this week.
We miss you during the day... someone has to pop in and deal us some wisdom and advice...
Considder yourself lucky to have a job... & tell them that you need that extra time off next November for the Henzel "Family" Reunion Thanksgiving...
