Great news! Congrats Brian! :goodvibes

Well done to Brian.:thumbsup2 (What uni is it??)

Good news on the college acceptance! Does it have to be LSU?:scared1:

I believe LSU is Louisianna State University.

YEAH for Brian. At least he'll have options....that's a good thing.

Don't worry Gydell... he probably won't go there- his first choices are Texas A&M and Penn State... I took him to see Siena while he was up here visiting... beautiful school... fills out all the requirments in what he was looking for in a school... but my sister took that one out of the running... I think she was afraid to have him too near ME for 4 years... :lmao: :lmao: (ohh... what influence do I have??? :rolleyes1 If I haven't screwed up any of the kids in the last 22 years... (I love being the crazy aunt...:hippie:) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:)

Will somebody please wake me when it's 5pm so I can go home? I've had absolutely nothing to do since before lunch. I even finished all the filing this morning. BOREDOM!!

Holly... wake up.. you're late for going home... :rotfl:

I think they will want to find water then crawl away to a dark place and die.
Don't look for them - it will be gross when you find it if you are looking or not just assume it's dead  and gone :thumbsup2

Great news!!!!! and Congrats!!!!

I'm still waiting to hear from my nephew to have him tell me that his son was born (6 weeks old now) I have to say I'm a bit pissed off that he and his wife didn't make any effort to call and tell either myself or my other sister :sad2:

Family strife....

Keep your fingers crossed my job search has fired up in the last few days.

Had an interview yesterday will meet with the CEO Monday, also have a phone interview tomorrow for another job. I'm hoping for the first one to come thru - it's part time consulting (read high hourly rate) and it would be in the same space I'm used to technology :thumbsup2

Many good thoughts... pixie dust and everything else thrown in for good luck!!! You need any references???

I've got many appendages crossed for you!

Isn't that quite painful?

Today was my first day of staying away from the Internet completely while at work. No news, no nothing. I read my personal email on my iPhone during lunch.

We also had our annual benefits enrollment employee sessions today. It was of course different, because of the timing with the acquisition of our company last week.

Essentially we have all been hired en mass at the new company. The goofy thing is our year is a calendar year and their's begins in April. So, come March we will be going through an enrollment process all over again.

They are counting our hire dates at the old company towards our seniority. So that works out well for us.

A change was our 401Ks. We are all vested in our company matching, and we don't lose the matching from our old company, but when we go into the new plan in April, they have a stepped vesting over 5 years. The good thing about them counting my seniority is that I started with the old company in April of 2005, so I have 5 years this coming April.

The benefits are sort of comparable, but the PTO isn't not so much. At our old company I was able to carry over 10 unused days into the new year. For 2010 I can carry forward the 10 unused days I have in my PTO bank, but come 2011, the new rules apply which is a carry over of only 5 days. That's going to cramp my vacation plans a bit.

Another goofy rule that none of us are clear about is that we think we are not allow to accrue more than 10 days in the bank, so when you accrue 10 you have to use them or lose anything over 10. It would mean being forced to take days off based on the accrual rather than when you want to. I suppose they don't want the liability of more than 10 accrued days at a time.

None of us are sure about this rule and are not quite clear.

The other bad thing for me, is that due to the goofiness of my title change back last winter when I went from being a manager to a strategy role, I no longer qualify for a bonus.

Still, I think our executive team did an great job of negotiating and taking care of us when the sale was negotiated. That's the think I'm going to miss the most. Our leadership team had been really decent people and I'm going to really miss that.

It really is what it is, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a job, and extremely fortunate that I was kept on. That seems to be a mantra for most of us in our office these days.

We're all just a bit exhausted at work and a bit shell-shocked from this week.

We miss you during the day... someone has to pop in and deal us some wisdom and advice...

Considder yourself lucky to have a job... & tell them that you need that extra time off next November for the Henzel "Family" Reunion Thanksgiving... :grouphug:

Thanks Deb.

By the way, it's the Eastwood Manor Thanksgiving ... it sounds so much less denominational.

Poor Shaelyn. Hope she feels better today. When mine were young, as long as they weren't very ill, I used to love cuddling up for the day on the settee watching TV with them.

Ended up staying home with Shaelyn again today, and she's doing much better. Got some good cuddling time. Watching the new TinkerBell movie now. The girls keep cracking up, its great!:cool1:

GOOD NEWS!!!

My nephew Brian got accepted to LSU!!!! It's his first college acceptance but he's not sure if he'll go there or not... he has 8 other schools to hear from...

I found out on FB... So I went and ran and got the phone and called him (semi jokingly yelling...) "YOU GOT INTO COLLEGE AND YOU DIDN"T CALL ME??????" to which I got... "Aunt Shell... go check your voicemail... I called you first..." (I had misplaced my phone last night...) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Congrats! and :lmao::lmao:

Good luck, but I'm sure you don't need it! Kick some butt!:goodvibes

Sounds like the worst is over, and you've survived well. Will Sukie be covered on your new benefits?

FYI!!!!

ANYONE DOING THE EBTA... THE EXCURSIONS ARE UP ON DCL'S WEBSITE...

Thanks Michelle! I noticed this a few days ago, and have been busy reading up on all of the excursions. Rather expensive, but I will book something at each port as I don't want to wander off all by myself and I do want to see lots while I have the chance. Of course, I'm hoping Nan and Will might be aboard and want to join me in some sightseeing :wizard:

Here's the latest installment of my mouse/mice saga. I haven't seen any activity/evidence for quite some time, until last night. Tyler was asleep, I was ready to head to bed soon too. I was relaxing on the couch with one guinea pig stretched out on me. I heard what sounded like paper crinkling. At first I thought it was just the other guinea pig ripping paper in his cage, but I looked over and saw him half asleep, lying down. I listened closer, found out where the sound was coming from, it was coming from underneath a piece of furniture next to the guinea pig cage. I was too freaked out to deal with it, so I ran out to get a packet of poison and tossed it over that way. :rotfl2: This morning, I told Tyler about it, and showed him where the poison packet was. When we came home tonight, the whole packet was GONE! I looked under the piece of furniture where I'd heard the sounds and saw the empty package with all the poison gone. WOOHOO!!! Those suckers are gonna DIE!

Later after Tyler was in bed, I was cleaning the guinea pig cage. As I stood up to get more supplies from the kitchen, I saw a mouse walk (not run like you usually see them do) over to one of Tyler's backpacks and CLIMB INSIDE! I'm not sure how fast the poison works, but since he wasn't moving very quickly, I'm thinking he's on his way out. I did NOT want him to die inside his backpack, so I took the whole thing outside and just dumped it out. :rotfl2: I didn't see the mouse, but it was dark outside, so I'm sure it fell out (probably ran back inside the house, with my luck).

GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! :headache:

:eek::eek::eek:

Kill him, kill him, kill him. and don't show us pictures either :snooty:

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Good morning all!

I'm so relieved that it's Thursday! This has been an incredibly stressful week and it's not even over yet. All of the people I work with thought that it felt like Friday because the stress has been so bad.

Today we have presentations on benefits, so I'll see what that's like.

On a sad note, my old team is not behaving very well. Inappropriate behavior and shall we say coming across with petulant defiance. I
amazed by it. I'm amazed by the sense of entitlment. These people honstly don't understand that the new owner has abolutely no obligation to give them a job, and that first impressions are important. I'm sad, but oh so relieved that they don't report to me anymore, and it's not my headache to deal with.

I am so looking forward to being off from work next week.

I'm sorry you've had such a stressful week Ian  but it does sound like things will work out for you :thumbsup2 Your old team was made up of mostly youngsters, right? They just haven't learned the same life lessons yet, to make them realize how lucky they are. They will learn!

GOOD NEWS!!!

 Congrats to Brian :thumbsup2 He's lucky to have such a proud Aunt

::yes:: did you see the chocolate factory in Barcelona??? It's on our list :thumbsup2 What else looked interesting?

thanks for the crossed limbs and luck :thumbsup2

You know Nan.. we usually only cross those limbs when we gotta go... real bad!!! :rotfl2:

I like the new tink

and it was an appendage not a limb huh? :rolleyes1

Thanks Deb.

By the way, it's the Eastwood Manor Thanksgiving ... it sounds so much less denominational.

Ian, that was Shelly not me. I called it the Eastwood Manor Special Turkey Day Celebration in my siggy.

Shell, are you making note of the change.....very good.
:hippie::hippie:

It's a very good thing that you have next week off Ian. I think you might need a good lie in.

Got it Deb... :thumbsup2

and Nan... don't you cross your toes when you've gotta go real bad??? :lmao:

Hey Nan...

The new tink sort of makes it look like she's wrestling a snake or something... luckily for us...it's just garland... ;)

Ian, hope you have a good Friday, a restful weekend and that things oimprove at work next week.

Keep your fingers crossed my job search has fired up in the last few days.

Hope this happens Nan!!!

Welcome to Friday!
Your Gateway to the Weekend!

I'm hoping to return to some sanity today. I am off all next week, although I'm going to take my laptop home and I'm going to have have to be on a few conference calls and just make sure things are moving along.

It's sort of sad that lately the brightest and happiest thought for me has been that I get to use my NEW Nesco Roaster next week!

Busy, busy, busy weekend coming up at Eastwood Manor. Tomorrow is going to be a MAJOR grocery shopping day, and this weekend I start making preparations for Thanksgiving.

I have a project plan and there are some dishes or components of dishes that start this weekend.

I also go back to leading my Sunday WW meetings after a 2-week hiatus.

I'm really looking forward to returning to some sort of routine after 2 weeks of disruption.

I think they will want to find water then crawl away to a dark place and die.
Don't look for them - it will be gross when you find it if you are looking or not just assume it's dead  and gone :thumbsup2

I hope they just disappear, but I'm starting to wonder when they'll all be gone! GROSS!!!

Sorry about all those changes Ian. It's a tricky situation, but like you said, at least you still have your job. Hang in there!
