We had bad weather at Castaway Cay yesterday, May 29, 2022. We were on the Disney Dream. The weather was initially OK when we arrived, but turned for the worst around 11:30 am. We decided to quickly head back to the ship and the waterspout-funnel cloud was rapidly approaching the ship. It luckily dissipated. I have never seen this before at Castaway.

Many, many years ago I was on the Wonder about this time when she was still doing the Bahamas cruises. It was a sea day and you could see a water spout not too far from us. Didn't last long at all either.

These were sent to our weather man.

We leave on Saturday and not looking forward to the weather.

The Cruise to Oz!! It could have been great! Glad it all turned out okay for everyone though.

As of right now… they have moved it to south Florida starting Friday night. I’m in Alabama so we have daily updates and sometimes twice a day.
Thanks for the update! I’ve been packing today… and doing laundry… so I haven’t had time to check the latest. We fly out tomorrow and I’ll be tuning into local weather at Cocoa Beach.

I feel for those living in the path. Sounds like a lot of rainfall in Mexico. I hope it misses you and your family in Alabama!

Edited - because I can’t type and autocorrect isn’t helpful!

It will miss us but anyone going to the beach will have to watch the ripp tide. We were going to drive down on Friday but decided to split the drive into 2 days. I didn’t want to drive in possibly heavy rain for long periods so we are leaving tomorrow also as soon as I can get off work.

Thankfully waterspouts are not dangerous…but that looks more like a full fledged tornado over water. (different formation)
