I know you can watch and hear the Magic Kingdom fireworks from 'Ohana but are there other places where you can sit and they pipe in the words and music?

They pipe in the music at the California Grill restaurant at the Contemporary.

Too expensive of a view! Any resort beaches?

We were there Dec. 15 and watched the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. We took a resort launch there and found our way out to the beach directly in front of the castle. My husband and I sat in a swing while the kids rested in the lounge chairs. I can't remember if we could hear the music but the view was quite nice. Get there early and you'll get to see the Electric Water Pageant. Can't say I'd leave dinner early for it, but it was a nice little bonus.

Have fun!!

RE: California Grille: You don't have to dine there to use the observation deck!

I think the dock at/near Narcoossee's and the dock at the Poly have speakers with the music/narration.

We have seen Wishes 5 times in the past three months (we were there in October and December). Twice from 'Ohana's which was great. They pipe in the music. We watched it twice from inside the MK and once from the boat dock at the GF. I have to say that this was the worst. The fireworks are beautiful but you can barely hear the music and cannot hear any of the talking. It is amazing how much the music adds to the experience. I would think from the beach at the Poly you also would not hear the music (but I am not sure). I really recommend watching from a place where you can hear the music and talking - especially if it is your first time watching it.

At the Contemporary, on the 4th floor (this is the same floor as the gift shops) there is an outside observation deck where the pipe in the music.
The view from here is very good.

Last time we tried this, there was a sign saying the observation deck was for CG grill patrons only and everyone else had to go to the fourth floor deck. But we had a PS at CG the next night, so that worked then!

Also, we ate at OHana in December and had a BEAUTIFUL view of Wishes (it was my first time seeing it), but no music was piped in.

This changed quite awhile ago. It is now reserved for people dining at the restaurant only.

Where is the deck on the 4th floor of the contemporary where the music is pumped in?

I know my sister and I went to California Grille the last time we were up there which was early Dec. and the deck there was closed to anybody but CG customers. We were able to watch out the window up there though, but no music = (

But there was a sign we noticed on the way down that said, Join Us For Wishes On The 4th Floor. We didn't have time to find out where it was though.

I am taking my 2 boys to the Contemporary tomorrow night for dinner/gameroom/wishes since my dh will be at a baseball card show at the convention center on I-Drive. I am hoping I can find it.

I am testing this for ds's 4th birthday next month. Our family of 11 is going for 3 days and we are having his bday dinner at Chef Mickey's on the 27th. Wishes is at 7pm that night, so we want to have a leisurely dinner and then head over to the observatory deck to watch Wishes as a family!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated:earsgirl:

With regard to them not piping in the music to 'Ohana, we have done this twice with music both times. I believe I had read somewhere on these boards that do not pipe in the music during MNSSHP and the Christmas Party.

Ahh, that would explain it! We were dining during a MVMCP.

As for the location of the 4th floor deck, it is on the side of the Contemporary that faces the resort parking lot and MK. When you are walking through the concourse from the elevator or escalator, it is the back left corner.

i had read prior to going on our xmas trip that you needed a ps from california grill but we did not have a ps for california grill and viewed wishes from the observation deck on the top of the building on 12/26/03 and did not see any signs and did not have any questions asked of us as we exited the elevator and went out to the deck after eating dinner at chef mickeys...they do pipe in the music and dialog to the observation deck...
have a great time!!!!
