Watching Steel Magnolias...

I absolutely LOVE that movie. If youngest DS had been a girl, I had picked out the name Shelby. My favorite line in the movie is when Dolly Parton states: "There's no such thing as natural beauty. It takes alot of effort to look like this"!

TC :cool1:

I agree with ...... "I'd rather have a moment of wonderful than a Lifetime of nothing special"

This was the very first adult movie I ever saw. Until then it had been all kid movies. I cry, laugh, and smile throughout the whole movie. You all may think I'm weird but after crying for like the last half of the movie, when Sammy in his bunny suit jumps on the back of that motorcycle I burst out laughing. I LOVE the music too. Reading all these quotes bring back LOTS of memories. I have the VHS and now I need the DVD.

"That which doth not kill us, makes us stronger"
"I'd rather have a moment of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special"
The whole graveyard scene, I'm crying one minute and dying laughing the next

Ah, what a great movie! I just realized I can put this on my Christmas list for DH! :cheer2:

That sanctuary looks like it's been hosed down with Pepto-Bismol

I'm so glad this thread took on a life of it's own!

Hands down the best scene in the movie is when Sally Field is screaming "I wanna know why" with her friends. Chills!

That's my #1 I-need-a-good-cry movie!! Absolutely LOVE it! That scene with Sally Fields in the cemetery rips my heart out every single time..

"I'd rather have 30 minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special.."

Such powerful words..

Oh - and my #2 I-need-a-good-cry movie is "Stepmom".. :flower:

I agree with both of those. Watched some of it today.

I forget the exact quote, but it is something like "I would rather have 15 minutes of wonderful, rather than a lifetime of nothing special"....or somethign like that.

I love that line too!

Shelby: Well, we went skinny dipping and we did things that frightened the fish.

Shelby: Truvy, you know what you need in here? You need a radio, takes the pressure off of everyone feeling they have to talk so much.
Truvy: I had one once, but I threw it up against the wall when I couldn't figure out where the batteries went. I know now I was suffering from pre-menstrual syndrome.

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE this movie and CRY my eyes out  every single time!!
there are way too many quotes that make me laugh..

"I'm not crazy M'Lynn. I've just been in a very bad mood for the last 40 years!"

Now THAT is my very favorite line from the movie! I was wondering if anyone else would pick it.

I do believe I have the entire movie memorized. Oh my.

Another fan here (my all time favorite movie). But you all missed the best line in the whole movie.

Clairee: M'lynn, you just missed the chance of a lifetime. Half of Chickapin Parish would give their eyeteeth to take a whack at Ouiser!

I also like:

Ouiser to Drum: I'm at the end of my rope with you
Drum to Ouiser: Then why don't you tie a noose in it and slip it over your head?

Annelle: Miss Truvy, I promise that my personal tragedy will not interfere with my ability to do good hair.

Truvy: I kind of like hiring somebody with a past.
Clairee: She can't be more than eighteen. She hasn't had time to have a past.
Truvy: Oh get with it, Clairee. This is the eighties. If you can achieve puberty, you can achieve a past.

I hope you stick your Bible where the sun doesn't shine!

I was just going to post this one, but you beat me to it!! :flower:

Her name was Ouisa? I thought it was Weezer. Whoops!

Totally off subject here, HTH, but I wanted to let you know that the woman standing on the right of your photo is a friend of mine, Joy Bradley. How funny it is to see her on here! :)

LOL, you should hang out with her in person outside of Disney. She and her hubby are so funny. :)

Am I really the ONLY person who thought it was "WEEZER" not Ouisa? Hahahaha, I have been reading this saying "Ouisa?? what the???"

Nope, up until this thread I always thought her name was "Weezer".
