Watch Out People !! ~ BEWARE ~ Slim Mojito Monkey Partying People In Progress !!

Hi guys - just wanted to check in and let everyone know I haven't abandoned you !! This has been an terribly stressful week for me and I just haven't been up for much DISing. My excercise/eating went really well but has gone south the past few days. After Saturday I will be back on track. The scale of course went up this week - UGH ! I am SO sick of battling these same 3 pounds !!

Don't forget weigh in tomorrow !!

It's okay, Missy- we miss ya, but sometimes life gets in the way of the Dis! LOL!

Me- I should be happy. Should. LOL. Last week, I was up- around 186.5ish and today, I'm 184.7 (I was 184.2 the other day- sigh). But I'm soo disappointed because I DESPERATELY wanted 183! **CRY**

Always next week! I know I have to tell myself- 1 pound less is WONDERFUL! But it kinda grates on my nerves that I know other people who are losing 2-4-6 pounds a week! Why can't I DO THAT???

LOL. Yep. Don't argue with a crazy woman!

So anyone else have their Pirates tickets already for part three? Our local Albertsons' were running a special- buy $25 of special marked products and get TWO free tickets for Pirates Three!!! And I never shop there, but I made a special trip- bought a huge thing of laundry detergent and rice krispy treats for the kids- and VOILA! Three free tickets!

And just to let ya'll know- I'm craving cinammon rolls right now and I have TWO packs in the fridge, but I'm not going to pop them and cook them!

I'm up this week. I'm really upset because I cut my calories WAY back from what I was eating, started to add more exercise during my day, Monday I was sooo low, and I'm up 1.8 pounds from Monday.

AF is coming this weekend, I'm feelign a bit bloated, not too much, but I think that's part of it. Plus, we've had cool clouds all morning and we're in the 60s until noon and I don't drink much water all morning.

But I'm still upset I'm up from last week...

Hi, guys! I had a very busy week this week and did not do great on my diet and exercise this week. I Know it is going to catch up with me next week though! For this week's weigh-in, however, I was DOWN 3.4 pounds!! I Really have no idea how :confused3 unless the good work from the last couple of weeks is showing now and this week will show next week?

The only good thing I did this week was not have any alcohol from Saturday until last night. Last night I had almost a glass of wine. Last few weeks I'd been drinking 4-5 nights a week :sad2: Mostly cause DH & I have recently determined that we like wine and are eager to sample a bunch of different kinds to see what we do and don't like.

The other thing that has been Really weird this week is that I have eaten the same breakfast and lunch that I normally do, but this week I have been STARVING all day during the day :confused3 by dinner I'm really famished and grumpy. One day I actually snacked. I used to snack some on dried fruit and nuts, but just haven't been lately. I thought it was strange. Maybe somehow that was related to the loss :confused3

I Really blew it tonight though. :scared: :sad2: DH & I went out to Red Lobster w/ 4 of his friends. I ended up eating VERY badly, ie. Fried everything and 3 biscuits :scared1: I don't know what got into me!

I WILL do BETTER this week!! And, hopefully I can at least stay where I am.

Hope you guys are sticking with it and not getting discouraged! It is hard work and takes time. Sometimes your body doesn't react the way you expect it to and then after not losing for awhile, then BOOM the scale goes down. Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Hopefully my body acts like this... I'm ready to cry because the scale has gone up 3 days in a row now... :sad1: :sad1: I found out yesterday that someone I haven't seen in 5 years is coming here in 2 weeks... I wish I could magically lose 10 pounds before she arrives.... <sigh>

Congrats on your weight loss! :cheer2:

Where is everyone? I'm here! Tired, but here!

We're all doing such a great job- I wish others were actually measuring themselves- it's quite amazing to see the difference from the beginning of this challenge to now! It makes you realize, even when the scale ISN'T going down- things are changing!

Well, I'm here- where is everyone else?

I did measure myself a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure that I am ready to measure again though.... How often do you remeasure to check your progress?

Hope everyone is doing well today!

I got up and had some Kashi for breakfast. Then I called my mom and we went for a walk. My family all lives right here (parents, grandparents, and DH & I) and my grandparents have a small lake w/ a path around it. The path is about 1/4 a mile around. Mom and I walked for 60 minutes, but we were chatting so I didn't count my laps. I felt good getting in some exercise!

DH has friends over today. They do this often. We got subs for lunch. I got a 12" turkey breast sub and intended to eat only half and have a few baked ruffles w/ it. Well I ended up not getting to eat until 3pm (breakfast was 11am) so I was Really hungry. I ate the WHOLE thing:scared1: and chips. Weird thing is I don't feel over stuffed :confused3

Hopefully this won't end up being too painfull on my next weigh in.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

I measure weekly- because you will often see your measurements go down when you don't lose any weight OR put on a little bit of weight- so it is more encouraging to watch the tape measurements then to actually watch your weight. I'd really recommend doing it again NOW because you'll be awful surprised.

And I CANNOT STRESS enough to the gals who still haven't done it- do it!

(I had the same issue this week with my Veggie sub from Subway. I ate the half for lunch and then ate dinner REALLY early at 4 PM just so I could eat the other half! LOL!)

Hi all~
I didn't get a chance to post yesterday since I was exhausted after spending most of the night driving back from Seattle. We hit construction on the highway & had to sit there for about an hour before we could continue home. The flight my DH & DS was on was delayed so by the time I actually made it home it was about 5am. I had originally planned on working yesterday but I was so tired I just stayed in bed as long as possible.

I weighed in yesterday morning and was down 1 pound. I'll send a PM in with my weight loss.

I've been measuring myself and find that it is the best way to measure progress. There are times I'm getting really frustrated because I don't see the scale going down as much as I want, but I try to remember that I'm working out and eating healthy and gaining muscle. Just remember that muscle weighs three times more then fat but takes up less space, so there are times the scale will be higher but that doesn't mean you are not making progress.

Anyway, I'm having a pretty busy afternoon still trying to unpack from moving a month ago. My DH has a class that he is taking this afternoon so I'm trying to do all of this & watch the little one as well. Hopefully I'll get my workout in this evening. I was planning on going for a walk this morning with Hunter but then I remembered that the stroller was in the back of the car...so that didn't happen :(

I've gotta run, but I'll check back this evening. Have a great day everyone!! :)

Hi everybody -
I am going to go back tonight and update all of our weight loss !! Great job to some of you !! I fell off the wagon hard this week and had some major stress eating happening ! Now it's time to pick myself up and start over again.
There are quite a few of us who are doing excellent !! I am so proud of you. I am NOT going to give up no matter what !! I WILL have a good week this next week and try my hardest !!

My last personal training sessions are this week. I am faced with the choice whether to continue with the training or not. I feel if I stuck with training, then I could actually lose the 20 pounds I would like to lose before my birthday mid-August.

I'm really, really discouraged because my scale hasn't really gone down in over a week. Since we started this challenge, I am now walking 6+ miles a week at the gym, doing pilates a few times a week while DS is in kindergarten, walking around our community lake a few times a week with my family (it has a 2.2 mile walking trail, we walk down half of it to see the baby duck family that lives at the boats, then walk back... so probably 2 miles there) , and training 2x a week with a trainer. WHEW! I'm exhausted jsut reading all that! BUT my scale hasn't continued to go down after losing 5 pounds since April.

This week is I get to be remeasured. Two weeks ago when I was measured I was down 6 inches. I'm afraid I just won't have lost a lot since then. I don't feel I have at least. I should start measuring myself at home, too, so I stop getting so discouraged when the scale gets "stuck."

So all this comes to my big question. Should I sign up with more sessions with my personal trainer (IF I have lost more inches, I won't for sure if the muscles haven't changed) or should I try just losing the weight and inches by myself? I push myself a lot harder when I know I have a trainer that will be checking my food log and my exercise log a few times a week. The big killer is that for 20 more sessions...10 weeks... it is $1200. If I work hard (and stop eating out once a week), I really think I could lose 20 pounds in that 2.5 months with a trainer. That's as much as our WDW trip for our family of 4 for 6 days this fall (without the plane tickets LOL).

What would you do? I would love a magic weight loss pill... or lipo... but neither one is happening, and the trainer actually is helping me build muscle strength instead of just sucking the fat away.... I keep thinking maybe I should try Weight Watchers, for that same amount of money I could go for months, right?

Good morning :) Hope you all had a great weekend.

Okay, so to answer your question...I was thinking about this same thing during the past week about whether or not to get a personal trainer. Then I realized that I would be throwing away a lot of money that I could use elsewhere (WDW!!!) by hiring the trainer. The reason I say that is because I know what I need to be doing to lose weight. I need a mix of cardio, weights & healthy nutrition. I know that with a trainer I would probably work a little harder, but I feel that it is probably something I can do on my own with some dedication & support from family & friends.

So, I think the most important thing is for you to determine if you can stick with your exercise without having a trainer to push you daily, weekly or whatever your schedule is. If you have been seeing a trainer for awhile then you probably have a pretty good idea of the exercises involved to increase strength & decrease body fat. Are those exercises that you can continue to do without the trainer? I find that if I write down my exercise on my calendar I am more committed to doing it & I usually don't skip out on it for something else. Usually my diet is the hardest thing for me to stick with, but I know there are some great resources on the web that are free that can help. I personally like www.sparkpeople.com

Hope that helps a little bit. I know I totally rambled, but I know exactly how you feel because I really wanted to hire a trainer to help me, but I honestly think that if I can stay motivated & come here for support from everyone that I'll eventually get to my goal & I'll have a lot more money in my pocket for other expenses.

Let us know what you decide to do :)

I agree 100% with Becky, but I cannot stress enough that you need to be HONEST with yourself. Honest. Because if you choose NOT to get the trainer and you blow the next few months before WDW- you will be kicking yourself in the butt. BUT I will say 20 pounds over the next few months- you can definitely do it on your own.

If you have the money and spending it won't cramp other things going on- then I'd do it, myself. Yes, I'm doing great by myself- this is the FIRST time that has ever happened and I credit you ladies- BUT I know with a trainer, I'd be more persistent and less likely to indulge.

I agree with the posts above. I personally wouldnt use a personal trainer due to the huge expense. You can do the same exercises on your own and save a lot of money(spend it at disney instaed). Just try to continue the technics that the trainer has already shown you and try to be consitant with them....we all mess up every once in a while and thats nothing to beat ourselves up about-were only human. If you do mess up on your own just learn from it and jump back on the band wagon asap. My birthday is also mid august (16th) and I hope to loose atleast 20 pounds by then, Im sure if we set our minds to it we can get it done in time:thumbsup2

Good luck regardless of what you decide to do. We are here for you:flower3:

Hi Keli~You can do it!! I know you can & we'll all be here for you throughout this journey. Glad you had a great weekend. How's your DH doing since the surgery?

What a great thread. I wish I was going to Disney this Sept so I could join in. I started The Best Life "Diet" on January 21 I have lost 25lbs with about 15lbs more to go. It has been a long road with a lot of hard work. I have slipped up, went out of town twice and was not on my best behavior at the dinner table. But I have been trying to eat healthy and work out 4-6 times a week for an hour. I have three kids doing lots of activities, I work part time and my husband is a firefighter and works 24 hour shifts. It has been hard to pull myself away from the family to exercise, but I know in the long run I will live longer and better. BOTH of my sisters are very sick one has MS and the other cancer stage 3b. My sister with MS, lost 60 lbs about 6 years ago and has kept it off. Her doctor told her that her being fit has really helped her. I just want to tell all of you good luck and keep up the good work!!!!!
