Are they crazy? I hope those planes sit empty. We are flying Airtran or Southwest!

CLE (or CAK) to MCO has become quite popular, and expensive. The best deals right now (even on Southwest or AirTran) are around $240 or so, including taxes.

It hasn't been this bad in a long time.

I have been checking flights from Minneapolis to MCO since December. In Dec the flights were in the $275 range for our travel time leaving May 29th. Today they are at $151 RT for our travel time. Wait until it is closer to your departure date-around 21 days before you fly, and the prices will be lower.

It doesn't work that way with Continetnal from Cleveland to Orlando. I check all the time. I booked our May trip in January for $256. I checked this past weekend and the flight is $900.

I've been looking at air prices around ohio for quite some time now. I know that CLE is right in your backyard, but consider flying out of Colmubus (CMH). Prices across the board are cheaper flying out of there, particularly on Southwest. It is slightly harder to get a non-stop/direct flight, but they do have them (at the same price or less than CLE).

Checking Travelocity today, they have flights from Cleveland to MCO for $265.

I just booked my parents flight to las vegas in July from cleveland for 198. I would keep checking back to see if you could get a better deal they seem to go down.

Might even be worth the trip to Buffalo or Pittsburgh and use Southwest....

We are going in October, and we ended up booking AirTran out of Pittsburgh. We are an hour from Cleveland, and just over 2 hours from Pittsburgh, but the price difference was amazing. For 4 of us, we are paying $707 for nonstop flights. We are going to spend the night before our flight at an airport hotel, and it is still A LOT cheaper than flying out of Hopkins. I was watching the prices out of Clevland on Continental, and they have gone from $250 up to over $300 now. I don't see them coming down anytime soon.

Just a thought....would it be convenient for you to drive to Toledo and use Transmeridian Air? We did this (a 75 minute drive to Toledo for us) and saved a ton of money. They were great!

I check flights across ohio as well due to a lot of travel on my own accord and having the convience of living around the center. Columbus is a good, generally cheaper airport with directs on delta to MCO (actually Chautauqua, but codeshare) for a range from $170-220 per person and it departs a total of ~8 times a day. There are even cheaper options if you decide that one stop is ok. My favorite thing that the airport seems to do though is when it is cheaper for me to fly out of Columbus to CLE or CVG (it has to be the most pointless flight) and then catch a direct flight from there, yet it saves me anywhere from $80-120 roundtrip to take an extra flight (especially true with cincy airport). Hopefully all works well in the end

We're flying to Orlando in July and when I started looking for air fare, Continental out of CLE was too much (and so was Airtran from Akron/Canton) . We ended up finding RT tickets on Spirit Airlines out of Detroit for $133. :flower:

The only problem TOL and Transmeridian is that they don't fly into MCO, but rather Sanford. For some, thats not a problem. I personally would rather fly into MCO, which is why I'm seriously thinking about flying out of CMH on Southwest. I can get a non stop flight for $89-$135 one way. Plus I'm also keeping an eye on Ding! fares (Thank you DIS for introducing me to this!!! :disrocks: ). Of course I don't leave for almost a year, so I have a long time to look, track, and find the cheap airfare.

Keep checking Southwest out of Cleveland. The current schedule only runs til Sept 12. Last year they offered some excellent fall fares. My neighbors went in Oct. for $123 RT.

Check USA3000 out of Cleveland. They are just starting nonstop flights from Cleveland to MCO. They are only flying out on certain days. We added an extra day to our vacation and it was still cheaper then Continental. It was $79 to go down there and $69 to come back. A lot better then $306 a ticket. That is nuts.

Attention all Buckeyes that live in the north:

Disney has Airtran flights out of Akron for $202.40. This includes flying on a Friday..a hard day to get a good price.

We are going to wait a week to see if Southwest does something and then book.

Just wanted to add that we have flown from CLE to MCO via Continental once or twice a year since 2000. We've never paid more than $230/ticket RT for a NON-stop flight to MCO. I would recommend keeping an eye on Continental's flights/prices - they tend to change pretty frequently.

Everytime we have flown, Continental has had the cheapest RT flight that was NON-stop. I always check multiple airlines out of both Cleveland & Akron. We usually don't enjoy spending our valuable vacation time with lots of stops or layovers, or driving 3 hours to another airport. With gas so expensive these days, the gas to drive that far would also need to factor into the decision to drive so far.

My MIL & family has been flying Airtran out of Akron for the last 2 years to MCO, but they frequently get a layover, or an extremely early or late flight for NON-stop. Not always very convenient. Just my 2 cents - keep an eye out on Continental's prices. :)

I was just thinking the same thing. How crazy is 306.00? We fly continental just about every year from Cle to Mco and usually pay about 200.00 a ticket. I really like sticking with continental out of Cle, but I refuse to pay that much for our family. I'm nervous about trying another airline.

We live in Ohio but are closer to the Pittsburgh airport. We are paying $196.90 each on US Air in August. I really thought that Southwest would have better prices. All the flights they had were at odd times or cost around $50 more.

In what ive seen, they are really cheap, or extremly expensive. All it depends on is how many seats they have sold.
