Wallets at Bag Check

So, DH can skip bag check since his wallet is in his pocket. If I use a small wallet/wristlet style hooked to my belt loop is that a wallet or a "bag"? None of my pockets will hold my phone and the couple of other things I would want with me in the parks. I guess my ? is at what point do they consider a wallet actually a bag and make you go through the bag check line?

If you can put the wallet in your pocket and go through, then you're good to go. If you have a wristlet or small wallet hanging from your belt loop 99% of the time they're going to stop you and usually check it right there, or send you through a bag line. They'll especially check it if it's big enough to hold a phone.

There's a difference between a mans wallet just holding card, cash, & I.D., vs a woman's wallet that's bigger and can't fit in their pocket

I've walked through with this style of kate spade wallet with no issue. what are you looking to take with you into the park? i bring cards (those go into this style of kate spade accessory) and a chapstick and my phone and it all fits either into my pockets, i can carry it with ease, or it can easily fit into someone else's bag/pocket/etc.

Can your pouch fit in DH's pocket while you go though security? I've done that the few times I'm not wearing one of my skirts that hold my phone and ID pouch.

Thanks all! I'll have to decide then if it's worth it. I usually carry a VB cross body and am more comfortable with that as I like to have the "may needs" on hand. I was trying to be a big girl this trip and go "bagless" so I thought this might be able to be a compromise. If I have to bag check anyway, I'd rather just have my cross body. Fitting it into DH's pocket may be an option though depending on his shorts of choice each day. NONE of my shorts have large enough pockets to carry even my phone safely. Based on above opinions, I'm assuming a runners belt under my shirt would still be a bag?

Pocket = no bag. Out of pocket = bag I can't speak to a runner's belt. Others will have insight there.

Exactly what I'm thinking also. Thanks for putting it simply! I think the runners belt may be a gray area. Interested in hearing what those who use them have encountered.

Have had no problem with the runners belts, but we keep them pretty flat and usually under the tshirts. We always go bagless, but got the DILs the belts. Will put a phone and cards and chapstick in, but that is pretty much it.

Id have to say it depends too... I had a small little wristlet I carried last trip... 2 parks said I dont need to worry and the other 2 I had to have it checked...which pretty much got me waved through with a quick glance at bag check ...

Bags are bags. If you don't have one then you can go without going to bag check. Then it depends on if you are required to go through the metal detectors. I don't know exactly what Disney requires as I have never been through the detectors there, however, every time I have been to anyplace that required that procedure I have had to take my wallet out of my pocket and put it in the little container to run it through the scanner. One of the reasons now is that the little "chips" that are showing up in your credit cards and in some drivers licenses will cause the metal detector to sound off.

Two separate things really. Simple... no bag nothing to check in bag check. If you have a bag, I have never been required to take my wallet out of my pocket and no one has ever asked to see it.

I've seen them make people with full pockets turn and go to bag check. So it depends on the CM you run into if stuffing your small bag into your pocket will get you into the park faster.

Also, every time my nephew went thru the no bag line he had to go thru the metal detector. Which meant emptying his pockets. I only had to go thru once.

Look at a Running Buddy. Big enough to hold a phone / id/ cash / chapstick and it attaches to the waist of your pants, covered by your shirt. No bag check.

Thanks everyone! I am going to look into getting a running belt or buddy. It does seem like just carrying my cross body and using bag check may be the best for me though. We always hit the first park at RD for am EMH and when we return its later in the day. Bag check has never slowed us down too much, but with the new procedures, I was slightly concerned it could. We usually go during a busy President's week, this time it will be mid/late May. I would hate to get up super early for RD/front of the lines and miss our headliner rides due to my bag check!

Also be aware that sometimes they make everyone go through metal detectors. Eventually I think they'll have enough where everyone will be going through. But keep in mind that no matter what line you go in there's a chance you'll have to empty your pockets and go through the metal detector. I'm not sure on how these belts work that go under shirts or dresses, but keep it in mind just in case it might be hard to take off or expose anything if you need to remove it

As someone who does enter 99% of the time without a bag I will say that in my experience we have to go through the metal detector most times so do plan to empty pockets. It doesn't really cause us any issues, we don't fill our pockets to bursting. We just drop the few items in the bins, walk through and continue on.

We typically go this time of year and have never missed a RD opportunity because of bag check. If you are concerned, give yourself an extra 5 or 10 minutes and don't worry. We typically do RD with a bag. Back to resort and leave bag on the return trip back that evening.

A couple of times I've forgotten to throw my wristlet in my pocket before walking in. I'll think someone is watching so walk toward the bagless lines and the cast members standing around literally shake their heads and point me through. Its obvious there's no contraband. SOME "wristlets" though are really full on purses/clutches with shorter strap:) Before I invest in a new wristlet or handbag that I will want the wristlet to, I make sure it'll fit in my sundress pockets. I have expanded them a time or 2 when it was easy and often add them, so its not a big deal.
