Walkway from SSR to DTD -- Does anyone know when this will open?

Recently it was posted that the walkway area from SSR to DTD is still not open. I was sort of looking forward to there being a walkway. Does anyone have any information on when it will be open?

Was going to post a similar question, but thought I'd piggy back on this one. How about the walkway from OKW? Is it closed? And if not, about how long a walk is it? Also, can you walk from OKW to SSR?

From South Point OKW to dd is about 3/4 mile the same for the West Side, now if construction is blocking the walk to DD, then just stay don't cross the canal and you will get to the West Side. The walk to SSr from OKW should be about 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile, these are just guesses, someone has measured the exact distances on this site. Walkway to DD from SSR, if it not opened yet you can always use the raodway, it is a little longer but possible I would not do it with kids.

I'm not sure when it will open, the cast-members were not sure. But the walk along the road would be prohibitivly long. Right now the construction is all over the place and the only way to get to the road would be back to the main entrance and then to DTD. I'm guessing it would take at least an hour.

i believe Doc posted they will open it after Building 4 opens which would be in August.

The real walkway won't be open until the fourth bldg opens on August 7 (possibly July 7 when bldg 3 opens), but there are two options right now to walk to DD from SSR.

You can walk past the SSR dock, across the golf cart bridge and around the DD West Side Parking Lot (about 3/4 mile) OR ...

You can walk past building 4 (Villas 1101-1436 at Congress Park) on the roadway to the staging area for the DVC transport vans and then cut across the landscaping to reach the sidewalk on Buena Vista Drive and then on to DD-Marketplace- also about 3/4 mile.

Once the "real" walkway opens, the distance from bldg #4 to DD will be just over 1/4 mile.

Thanks, Doc! Did you try either of these? It sounds like the walk across the golf cart bridge would be more pleasant.

We did both. I've used the golf cart route for months to take all of the construction photos. It's fine, but there is a sign at the bridge stating "No Joggers"- so I don't know that they really want guests using that as a walkway. (There is also a sign near Cirque indicating "Walkway To Saratoga Springs Resort" ... and the only way to get to SSR from that sign is by crossing the golf cart bridge-- just be sure NOT to jog across the bridge! )

The other route is fine at this time, but there is a feeling of doing something that they don't want us to do. The "real" walkway will be much safer and much more comfortable! There is no walkway- you're just walking on the road itself and across a landscaped area to reach the sidewalk along Buena Vista Drive.
