Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Jeanne--- I ended up with the long sleeve, short sleeve and the tank top. I'm glad I got the medium in the tank top since it is cut low. You are making my hungry with all that talk of fresh bread and pastries. I finally ordered the Yucatan sandles, I held out for another 20% discount at shoe buy. So ordered today will have them before I leave for WDW. $95 with free shipping I thought was really good.

Dave--- You can call me a Pretty Princess, but I probably look more like Princess Fiona from Shrek than Cinderella. If Erica is interested in the Ecco sandals I can forward the email to you. I don't think that deal is available to everyone as I get it in an email. If you have an entertainment book and register it, they always have 15% off on shoebuy.

Connie--- Once Kathy meets us in person she will either be thrilled to do another race with us or think we are all crazy and want to be as far away from a WDW race as possible. :rotfl2:

Nancy

Erica wears the Ecco sandals for all her training and racing now. We are going to Gattlinburg in the Smokies for a week of hill training before the Goofy. I guess she will need a plan B if there is snow up their. Her cute little toes would not be happy campers doing a 20 mile LSD in the snow with sandals.

Kathy we will be on our best behavior. Of course you have heard that old joke: "Santa, define GOOD".:grouphug:

I did 12 miles yesterday with Erica so I just did a 2.25 mile speed workout today.

Have a super day everyone. I know that no one is excited about our upcoming ToT adventure so I'll not mention it. :rolleyes1

Dave:hippie:

Hey there my fellow walkers!!!!!!

Can I pack yet???????:confused3

WWDave You can call me whatever you want:thumbsup2

Jean Glad you had a great time in Boston. One of the few States I have never been to or driven through. Would love to go one time.....Maybe the Boston Marathon:lmao: :lmao: Ya right....only as a spectator.....:rotfl:

Kathy WTG on your pace that is awesome:cheer2: :cheer2:

Maria WTG on your TM workouts. I watch Biggest Loser as well, however, I always feel so bad when someone who is working so hard to get healthy gets kicked out.

Denise I must have have missed a post or two:guilty: What happened where you where injuried.....hope you are OK.

Nancy Great training....I am jealous you are leaving for WDW in only 2 weeks!!!!

Connie Kathy will love the disney events and all of us and I am sure she will want to do a few more:flower3: They are alot of fun!!!!

Ok I think I am all caught up. Have a super duper day all.

Kim

Good morning, everyone!

Kim: Oh yes, we can definitely start packing.....it just makes the excitement that much more!

Dave/Erica: this will be my first day wearing the Ecco Yucatans outside. I finally broke down and got a pedicure last week. They didn't give me fake toenails like Nancy, but did make my feet look fairly respectable. My LW will be 10 miles this week so I just may wear them for that.

I sat down with a calendar this morning and scheduled all the upcoming long walks. Essentially I'm following Bingham's plan but need to tweak it to coincide with my other events. I'm scheduled to do 18miles the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but will probably have to move it to Sunday because of visiting family. My longest walk (22miles) will be the Saturday before Christmas, which is going to be a b*tch to squeeze in. After that, it's all taper and excitement!

What time do people usually meet for breakfast the day after the marathon? That's our check-out day, so hopefully we can make it. Going from resort to resort can be a hassle if you need to rely on WDW transportation.

Dave: is it official? Are we really doing the pool/hot tub at the Swan after the TofT party? Will they allow us to use it so late (early?) If so, then you, my good man will have to stock up on some towels earlier in the day. Should I wear my bathing suit under my TofT gear? Sorry to ask so many questions....I just always like being well-prepared!

Today was a water aerobics day....I don't know if I could train this hard if I didn't have my water aerobics. It's such great therapy.

Jeanne, yes Erica and I will have a big cooler of drinks. As far as what the Swan will allow, I don't have a clue, never stayed there before. If they were to have a problem we can manage, wonder how they would like the press to get hold of them running off the Princess of Wales, (They don't know who the Princess of Wales is). I'll send her an email with an invite, we don't know that she wouldn't show up, now do we? Besides it's easier to get forgiveness than permission. We will figure out a plan B if there is a problem.

Are you sure if I flash Minnie on the float that Disney will have some nice surprises for me?:cool1:

Maybe Kathy will want memory of this adventure surgicly removed from her memory bank after all!

Dave:hippie:

Good Afternoon!

I certainly don't mind being called a pretty princess. I read like Belle, and my dh thinks I'm as naive as Snow White:rotfl: Let's just say he calls me his "little marketing target".

Dave -- Did I miss something? :confused3 As I understand it, there will not be another Princess of Wales until Charles ascends, William becomes the Prince, and he gets married. I think they actually might recognize the title, the last one was pretty well-known...

Jeanne -- Wow, you have alot going on, so it's awesome that you are organized with your calendar. You've given me a great idea. Seeing it in print should also help with motivation!:cool1:

Kim -- I feel bad for the Biggest Losers who go, but they always have such amazing transformations! I can't believe how much weight they lose after they go home.:yay:

Nancy -- Your vacation is so close! It's great you are still concentrating enough to do your training. I have a fear that I will fall apart as I get close to the Disney Half...:scared1:

Tonight I'm walking to last night's Dancing with the Stars. DH has commandeered the "good" tv, so he can join the rest of Red Sox Nation at 6:30...That means I'm on duty for all the ds chores. I'll have to make my workout quick, and even then I'm sure to hear calls for Mom while I'm doing it. I'm going to tell ds unless the house is on fire, he can wait:thumbsup2 He usually interrupts me with breaking news about the lastest Pokemon adventure...:rotfl2:

Everyone have a great evening! Post-workout, I'll be :laundy:

More like the Princess of Whales........:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Maria: since you mentioned "Dancing with the Stars", I'm posting this:

6-8-2007-340.jpg

That's John and me with Joey Fatone and his partner, Kim. It was taken less than a week after they finished up last season on Disney's first Med cruise. They performed for us one night, but most of all, they just were relaxing with their respective families.

Here's another one taken when we first boarded the ship.

Nancyandme.jpg

And, since I hardly never, ever post photos, that's Nancy and me at the finish line of our half-marathon. Notice how just about everybody else has gone home!

Jeanne -- Awesome pics! I loved Joey Fatone, what a great spirit! It looks like you had fun meeting him. And you guys are walking strong at the end of the Half! I can't wait to say I've done one, I think it is such an awesome accomplishment!

Maria

Maria--- I will be glad just to walk someone else so looking forward to some walks at WDW. We stay at OKW and take the pathway that goes from OKW to SSR and from there you can go to DTD.

Jeanne--- I tweaked my schedule from the beginning to accomodate my half, ToT and 2 WDW vacations. All my really long walks are the weekend after we get back from WDW so I hope I have the energy to do them. I am stopping at 20 miles, you will just have to pull me along at the end since you will have trained those extra 2 miles. It is going to be interesting to do all those LW over the holidays. Do you think we won't gain weight over the holidays since we are burning off all those extra calories? I am getting another pedicure after my half so that my toes will look so good in those Ecco sandals.

Nancy

Hi, everyone!

That Connie! Always starting something! LOL! I am really looking forward to meeting all of you! And I am looking forward to ToT. But, truly, I really don't like large crowds, especially large crowds of strangers. After ToT, you guys won't be strangers any more, but at a bigger race like the ones in January, there'll be lots and lots of strangers! I always feel claustrophobic in large crowds, 1) because I have a fairly large "personal space" and someone is always invading it and 2) because I'm a little bit on the short side, when I'm in a crowd I can't see anything but people. There's no way I'm going to be looking over people's heads, unless the group is a kindergarten class! LOL! So, the thoughts of being in the same small area with thousands of people is very unappealing to me. I'm hoping for some smaller WISH events at some point down the road!

Jeanne - Thanks for the pictures! I love them! Now I have an idea what you and Nancy look like, so I'll know who to watch for!

Maria - whereabouts in New Mexico are you? My sister lives in Los Lunas. Connie and I try to do events where we can meet up somewhere close to one our homes or somewhere in the middle. Last spring we did a half in Albuquerque. Maybe you'd want to join us for an event in that area?

I have been interrupted so many times while trying to post that I have lost all track of what I was going to say to whom......and now it's past my bedtime! LOL! :confused3

You all keep on keeping on!

Ok. I admit it. I'm losing it!

Maria - I apologize! I could have sworn we had a Maria from New Mexico, but obviously I am geographically challenged! I guess Boston isn't really somewhere in between the Texas panhandle and southeastern Colorado! But, if you want to make a trip out this way, you're welcome to join Connie and me any time!

See what happens when you don't get enough sleep AND stay up past your bedtime???????

LOL!

Kathy

Kathy, the Disney events don't give you the closed in feeling that a lot of big events do, they use a lot of corrals so it stays spread out right from the start. Besides lady, you walk with warriors, you are as tall as you need to be.

Dave:hippie:

Jean awesome pics of you and Nancy. SO nice to put a face to the name.....now that we know what you look like there willl be no escaping us:lmao:

I have met Robert and Linda in person but everyone else I feel like you are already friends so no strangers at ToT or Marathon weekend just my team:grouphug:

Kim

Kim--- I saw the picture of you that Beth posted on the race reports and thought the same way you won't be able to escape from us either. You looked like you were really feeling good when she took that picture and you finished so strong. I do feel like we are meeting friends that we have know for years.

Kathy--- I have only done one race which had about 3000 racers, but being at the back of the pack it wasn't long before you were with your own small group. Now I'll see how it is in Baltimore since that is a much bigger race.

I went to do stretch class last night but it was cancelled, so ran errands instead and had a DQ blizzard.

Nancy

Good Morning!

I've never been to New Mexico, but it looks lovely in photos...maybe someday!

Nancy -- it's a good thing there isn't a DQ anywhere near me. Resistance is futile when it comes to the Peanutbuster Parfait:rotfl:

I spent an hour on the TM last night replaying the Dancing with the Stars I taped Tuesday. Wayne Newton has a lot of fans, and they vote!

My dept. is going out for Thai food today. I'm having a lemon/shrimp soup and chicken in the garden (boiled chicken w/veggies). I'm not exactly excited, but I know the fried sweet potato sticks and peanut sauce are not on my training menu!:rotfl2:

I have a question -- since I seem to be training in the evenings, is it better to eat before or after I walk? When I eat before, it's usually about 45 minutes before I walk. When I eat after, It's pretty much right after my shower. I seem to feel fine either way, I just wondered if there was a better way. :confused3

Everyone walk strong!
Maria

Maria, I would vote for eating before going out. I eat breakfast, enjoy my coffee and then head out for walking or racing. I could not do that when I was a runner but walking doesn't churn the tummy the way the pounding of running does.

Guys are we gonna be bad when we eat at Disney:rolleyes1 , remember the calories don't count when you are on vacation.

I had a nice 4.5 mile training walk this morning. It was 65 degrees and a misting rain so pretty good conditions. I went to the WKU hills to make it a strength day. Total time including the slow warm-up mile 59:02. Very relaxed and pleasent walk.

I have a 10K on the 13th that I walked last year in 1:13:36, I hope to go a little faster this year. But just being there is great. It's a run race so I'll be toward the back of the pack. It's an Olympic trials qualifier so there might be some good talent show up. It's usually won by one of the traveling Kenyan team runners. There is $10,000 prize money for the winner and another $10,000 in cash drawing prizes.

I got to see pics of pretty princesses, life is good.

Have a great day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning walkers.

We are only 2 weeks away from our trip and our 8 mile stroll enjoying the first ever night race at Disney. Has it really been 6 months already? This year has flown by. It doesn't seem like any time at all since we were all thinking about "Do we want to go to Disney again"? Guess that was an easy question to answer.

Now we are even planning the Minnie for May. We surely have something seriously wrong with us. Is there rehab for Disney addiction? Is it catching, can we infect Kathy? Misery loves company.

I'm trying to decide if I want to walk today or just go to the gym for hot whirlpool tub and stretching? I wonder if the hot tub really does help your tired muscles? They say it's not the walking but the resting after that makes you stronger.

Is everyone feeling healthy and walking good? How is everyones training going?

Have an awesome day y'all.

DAve:hippie:

good morning everyone! My parents and I did our "BIG Walk/Run" today. We decided to do 6 miles..Well I can say I am very proud of my out come..I ran 5 miles (yes I said 5 :) ) and fast walked the last mile. I did it in about 1hour and 10 mins...so I was very happy with that. And proud of my parents too.
