Waffle Maker

Hi please supply the brand name for the waffle/pancake mix you mentioned in your post. I just order the Mickey Mouse waffle iron and would love to have the mix Disney uses. Thanks in advance!
Pretty sure the blue package in the photos is krusteaz

I also have that 6 count mini Mickey Waffle Maker and I LOVE IT. We make waffles often. I use the brand Krusteaz Waffle Mix and they come out great!! I also have a Villaware Mickey waffle maker and another Mickey waffle maker (I have 4 different Mickey waffle makers) but I like the most recently one that makes 6 waffles at a time. Great for when the grand kids come over.

Hi, please supply the name of the pancake/waffle mix that is shown in the first and second picture, the full name isn't visible. I remember reading sometime back that this batter tasks just like the waffles you get at WDW and would like to get some to use when I'm making my Mickey waffles. Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

The pancake/waffle mix in the photo is Krusteaz.

Waffles in the photo we made were these.

Disney uses this mix.

Krusteaz makes a pancake mix and a waffle mix but I have used them interchangeably when making pancakes/waffles...depends on what I happened to buy at the time.

I have a Cuisinart Waffle maker that makes 4 waffles at a time and has a pancake plate so I can make pancakes on it, too. I've had it for years. Love it. The plates come out so it's easy to clean them. It's pretty small, too.

I am begginer in cooking waffles, I do love them tho, and I thought about starting to make them by myself, so which waffle maker would you suggest me?

Get a Belgian flip style waffle maker. Any brand will do. The flip ones make the best, most uniform waffles.

And definitely use Carbons Golden Malted waffle mix, it's the best!

I've had a hard time finding a waffle maker that actually gets hot enough to make crisp waffles. Most of them come out soft. None of the Mickey waffle makers I've ever tried come out crisp (but they're not at Disney either, lol). Anyone have any recommendations? I've heard the cuisinart might be the one I'm after.

I am a kitchen appliance freak. I love them. That being said, we have two. One is a cheap one from Walmart and the other is I believe a Cuisinart. I have to say that the cheap one works better. Have had it for several years and use it at least once a week.

There you have it, some very inventive, but incredibly tasty ways to enjoy those leftover waffles! Dig in!

Or finally, how about a turkey cranberry waffle sandwich? This is delicious around Thanksgiving time when turkey leftovers and cranberry sauce are just lying around! Pile it on your waffle and chow down!
the above from a blog.

🧇🧇🧇🧇...if you have left over waffles....something is wrong😎😎😎....and your governor will arrest you....left over turkey is for balloon white bread and cranberry sauce and unhealthy dollops of mayo..... and a sprinkle of slat.

Oh good! A waffle maker thread! I was thinking about starting one for recommendations. I didn't know there already was one. I should have known the DIS would already have one. :thumbsup2

I haven't eaten pancakes/waffles in a long time as they are too high I carbs. But, I found a high protein pancake/waffle mix that truly does NOT spike my blood sugar levels, especially as I have it with Cary's sugar free syrup, too. The pancake/waffle mix is the Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes pancake and waffle mix. I've tried the Buttermilk, Dark Chocolate, and the Pumpkin Flax flavors. Love them all.

I dug out an old waffle maker I had in storage. It's horrible. It's an Oster. The plates are raised, yet unremovable. There's an open crevice all around, underneath the plates, so when I wash it, water gets inside, no matter how careful I am. I do NOT immerse it. I'm afraid of electrocuting myself if there is water still inside near the wires the next morning. :badpc: It needs to be washed, not just wiped down, as I'm messy and accidentally slosh batter over the sides. :headache:

Also, like a PP said, it really doesn't get hot enough to crisp up the waffles. The last time I made waffles, I ended up placing them in the toaster oven to finish crisping up. That's ridiculous to be doing double procedures making waffles.

https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-WAF-F20-Double-Belgian-Stainless/dp/B01IA3HJGG We love this waffle maker. We make waffles almost everyday. My husband was excited to see this waffle maker on one of the cooking shows he watches.

We stayed at a hotel that had a couple of these on the counter so we all could make our own waffles in the morning. It does seem to be well made and will hold up over long-term, heavy duty usage. But, it takes up a lot of space and doesn't look like it's made to be able to be stored away. :(

stop making this hard, just buy some waffles that go in the toaster, the butter and the syrup is what makes it all good anyway

use the recipe with the egg and the milk, it really makes a difference in the batter.

If you want crispier waffles, you need to use a thinner batter. The thick batters make nice fluffy waffles; the thin batters make crispy ones. My Cuisinart (with the removable plates) does a great job on heat level 3, for me, and I use level 4 for DH, so they get hotter and crispier. This is the one I have, but I paid about $45 at Target for it, lol.

Thanks. I've been using milk. I'll try it with an egg too. I thought people have been adding it just for the added protein. I didn't know it would change the batter. I have been making the batter thin. I thought it may be too thin and have been starting to make it thicker. It was very puffy last time, but totally soggy. That's when I put it in the toaster to crisp it. (It works for Eggos.) So thanks for that tip, too. :thumbsup2

I'll keep my eye on that waffle maker to see if it goes on sale. :hyper:

you can add a bit more mix too, if you think it isn't thick enough. When I make it, it looks puffy and thick, not runny like cake batter. Sometimes I add some malted powder, sometimes some Penzey spices (baking spice, pie spice work well here) with diced green apple and toasted pecans. Always add vanilla., makes 'em taste more homemade.

waffles tip: (applies to homemade or mix)
If you beat the egg, oil, and milk before adding the dry ingredients, and then just stir enough to combine (like you would a muffin mix), it helps keep the waffles tender. (same logic applies to all pancakes and biscuits as well...less agitation = less gluten). Leave little lumps. You want the gluten 'chew' when you eat a pizza or pretzels or bread, but you want tender waffles and biscuits.

We eat a lot of waffles and pancakes. :lmao: Plus, spent a year at a diner doing line cook, so lots of practice.

The 90th anniversary Mickey mini flip waffle maker makes crispy waffles, just like the ones they have at the parks.

For non Mickey, I had a great one that was Presto brand (belgian flip style). I'm sure the $100 Cuisinart one is also great.

Crispy waffles should never be made with milk. Find a batter that uses water and make sure you cook them until the steam stops coming out the sides. Again, try the Carbon's mix. DO NOT alter the recipe. Make it according to the instructions. Subbing milk for water will make them soggy and more likely to burn.
