They are offering those on the cruise an additional incentive. I believe it another $750.

I casually followed VGF resale for several years hoping to add on to the points I owned there & rarely saw contracts in my use year. I also inquired about direct after it was sold out & at the time there wasn’t even a wait list. I do think that long term w/ the addition of 2 million points the supply of VGF points on the resale market will increase which, coupled w/ restrictions devaluing all resale points, will result in VGF being less expensive than it used to be compared to other WDW resorts. Since I bought to use my points, I don’t particularly care, and I can console myself that for the next decade or two my VGF points are likely to yield more on the resale market than the new resorts that can only be used at one resort should my heirs opt to sell.

I think it'll still retain most of it's value. For the past 30 years essentially Disney held GF as the crown jewel of Disney resorts and is still used the most in marketing. Most people when they think deluxe Disney resort they think of GF and IDK I think that plays into how much people will be willing to pay for it.
