Just off the phone with MS and made some 7 month window August reservations for an Ocean View Inn Room. I was a day early to book the entire reservation, and she said I could just call back tomorrow since there were 50 empty Ocean View Inn rooms available for my dates! :earseek:

Is this typical, or do you all think its fallout from last summer's hurricane's? Well, given that Mother Nature decides to cooperate, we look forward to another trip to Vero this year! Anyone else?

We're going to be there 8/24 and 25. We have 2 OV rooms booked, I guess we're going to be there just after you.

Tagrel,
I am a frequent visitor to your website and I was wondering if you plan on driving again this year? I saw that you drove once before and my wife and I are contemplating the same.

Was the drive really hard? We would be doing it from NJ.....

Oooppsss!! Did I just hijack this thread?

Just a quick detour... :teeth: We have only driven down once. That was to take my Mother who will NOT fly. We found driving all night to work really well with my wife and I both taking turns. We left in the afternoon (around 4pm). We had a DVD player in the car for the kids, and they were asleep by 8pm. About 10 - 12 "Are we there yet" - free hours while they slept and then arriving in WDW by 1pm. Not too bad. We broke driving back into 2 days and that seemed much longer to me. I missed all those 'kids sleeping' hours on the road!

All said and done, we'd do it again, but flying is our first choice!

Now, about that Vero Resort this summer... :teeth:

I think it's your timing. August is probably the lowest of the low season -- some schools have reopened and most Floridians try to get out of Florida to get away from the heat. The resort will probably fill as we get closer to the date -- either with DVC members or with a function that they'll book into the resort.

. . . it's the highest point time. We've been to VB the last two Augusts . . . the last week before Labor Day because it's been a nice end to the summer before our kids start school the day after Labor Day.

Anyway, I think it's been full both times we were there even though as was posted, a lot of schools have already started and the Floridians are escaping the heat.

It is hot, but we figure we're at the pool or beach and it beat the humidity in landlocked PA.

DH would like to go earlier this year, though, to avoid hurricanes so maybe others feel the same. Me? I figure as hard as they got hit last year, we'd be safe!

Have a great time.

August is Dream Season (in the middle). Christmas/Feb-April are the Premiere and Magic Seasons at Vero.

I agree that it is odd that August runs so high. They've got hurricane time in the Adventure Season but barring the storms, October-November are much nicer than August.

I guess you're right. I think I was considering more the fact that while it is a lower season in terms of travel, it certainly isn't lowest in points. We're spoiled by the fact that we usually do WDW in January or Feb when points are lower so when we use what we have to for VB, it's a shock. Anyway, August is a great time to be at VB!
