Vera Bradley lovers... help would be appreciated!

I just got the mini hipster and i'm in love with it. It's the perfect size for me. I love it for everyday use, and even more so for day trips.

We just went to the Rennaissance Festival and this was all I needed. It fit my camera, our tickets, a bag of peanuts, my ID, my debit, and our cash with a bit of room left.

I will say this, though...there are little slots on the inside that appear to be for pens, etc...but they aren't actually deep enough for a pen. I use one for a chapstick, one for a tube of medicine and a bandaid, and the other two I don't really use.

The main inside pocket, as long as you put things in the right way, fits a bit. You just have to decide what you actually need. I've had as much as a small notebook, pen, camera and my cell in at once, but it was a little puffy.

There is an ID section under the flap, and it can fit more than one card behind it, so that's where I put my licence, miltary ID, and debit car.

The front flap itself has a zipper pocket that is pretty roomy.

There is also an open pouch on the back, useful for taller things or something you want to access quickly.

I use to carry around a larger purse with a ton of stuff in it all the time...since getting this bag i've realized how much of it was not needed. Yes, it is small. But, it's practical, light weight, and comfy to wear. I hardly even notice i'm wearing it no matter what's in it. This is my favorite bag i've ever had. I love how versatile it is. No holding it, no sliding off my shoulder when I bend. It's wonderful!

This is me wearing it at the Ren Fest last month. For a more accurate size reference, I am 5'0'' and 90 pounds...so small, to say the least. I did have to tie the strap a bit, but not much, for it to hit right at my hip.:

Now you're making me want to get a Mini-Hipster. I always wonder why I carry such a big/loaded purse for every day. I probably don't need it at all (Disney is a different story, though - my camera wouldn't fit in the Mini-Hipster so I need a bigger bag there). That pattern is really cute - great picture!

Summer 2011 patterns and bags released to the public today!! Bags and prints available for sale on March 24! You can see them on verabradley.com!! Just what we Disney lovers need...LOTS of new travel accessories!!! WooHOO!!:cool1:

I saw! Seeing the picture of the Lizzie again may have converted me. May get one to alternate with my Hipster for this August's Disney trip!
I love the passport cover, too, but $28 seems a bit steep. I'm digging the stationary, too-- perfect for a trip notebook.

well darn if they weren't kidding about it being a SNEAK PEEK! All the cute little bags and accessories that were on the website this morning are now gone!:headache:

you can see them on insidestitch.com though.

they sure do know how to stir things up! ;)

I saw that, they were there and it looked like you could order them just like anything else. And now they're gone, weird! I wonder how many orders they are busy undoing now!

So, if you were going to buy a Weekender, and were going to choose between these colors, which would you choose? Bali Blue, Totally Turq, or Blue Lagoon? :wizard:

I thought the passport cover was a little pricey too. That's what is so frustrating about Vera Bradley...their prices are initially ridiculously high. Especially when you KNOW that those prices WILL go down. I just have to make myself wait...although I do have my eye on that travel wallet. My old one finally fell apart after many trips to all over the place! PERFECT excuse to spend the money on a new one!!!:cool1:

I don't know if orders of the Summer prints could go through. On my computer if you hit a new color it would say when it was available but there was no way to add it to your cart. I think they were getting people geared up!!

Hmmmm....which would I choose...I would probably go for Totally Turq amongst those three. Mostly b/c Blue Lagoon has the white and white doesn't tend to travel well without showing dirt. My weekender gets shoved under plane seats and set down on airport floors (:crazy2:), so I'd be afraid that my pretty new print was getting the dirt treatment big time! Totally Turq is a light color as well so I don't know if the argument washes...ha ha...Bali Blue might cover up dirt better just b/c it's a busier pattern...

so basically I've been ZERO help! Honestly though...I like Totally Turq's pattern as well as the color!

I was a little unhappy that new colors just came out when my weekender and the matching cosmetic bag and lizzy are very new...thankfully I didn't prefer any of those colors over Boysenberry...which is VERY good at hiding dirt!

i'm so procrastinating right now. I have roughly 84,000 progress notes to write. It's probably a good thing that the new bags and such are not on the VB site at the moment. No excuses...unless I can think of some!
;)

I didn't actually try to order anything from the web site. I was just browsing :)

Thanks for the opinions! Good points about the colors I named showing dirt, or not. Sometimes I think I want a blue because it's a closer match to my luggage. But sometimes I don't care and want to get something altogether different. Honestly I wasn't too excited about the Summer patterns. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in their marketing or art department because it must be interesting how they come up with their prints and how they narrow it down to 4 at a time.

I probably shouldn't tell you this, because you're trying to work, but there are some of the new pattern items on eBay already.

:rotfl2:

I know. I saw them.

I found a reason to procrastinate!!

I have often wondered that same thing...how do they come up with the patterns they choose? The summer patterns aren't my favorite either. I don't hate them...I've always loved red in particular...but a red bag can be tricky. One of those patterns is extremely busy...which can be cute, but on a large bag it would give me a headache! That's why I like patterns like Totally Turq. The color and the pattern have an order to them. My OCD self likes that. It doesn't make my eyes cross! Calypso is another color/pattern I like. Not too busy, symmetrical pattern...works.

wow. I think WAY too much about this stuff. I have decided that I focus on stuff like this b/c my job is crazy and all over the place and it can get really heavy...so a little VB analyzing does my brain some good!!!

and just to mix things up...I went to the Coach website too...some cute bags coming out for summer!!!!

You need the Barcelona carrier for your trip :) It would be wrong not to get it

I love both of those Mediterranean colors (white and blue). I'm not familiar with Symphony in Hue. I've been stalking the large duffels but I think I need the Weekender more. But I go back and forth.

I LOVE that you recognize my NEED for the Barcelona for my ipad. ;) The duffel is GORGEOUS in Symphony in Hue. I don't necessarily love that color for smaller accessories, but I get endless compliments when I travel with the large duffel. The pattern inside is so pretty, too!

I have the original Kindle and it came with a nice leather cover but DH won me the new Kindle at a charity auction the other night and it doesn't have a cover. Now I am debating between a sturdy leather one, or a Vera. And if I get the Vera I have to decide on a color. LOL! It's so hard!

Matt's Princess- Thank you for posting the picture. That is one serious deficiency on the VB website. They need pictures of people carrying the various bags so that you have some idea of the sizes.

It's funny how some patterns look great in some styles but not as great in others. That Symphony in Hue is really gorgeous I agree! Inside patterns are a deal breaker for me. If I don't like the inside, the whole thing is a no-go.

Hope you find a nice Kindle cover! That's one you're going to look at constantly so you have to like it a lot. Or maybe it will get dirty so you'll need 2 of them so you can switch off ;)

I totally and completely agree!!!! I find that I have to go to zappos or ebags and hope they have the bag I'm looking at so I can see how it looks! Perhaps we should start an email campaign to VB.com about it!:thumbsup2

and may be just one more picture of each bag... the front, the inside and gosh, the back too! I often find myself searching ebay for sellers that put gobs of photos of their items so I can get a better look

I'm between the Weekender and the Metropolitan, but I wonder if the Metropolitan would be too small.

I have both the Metropolitan and the Weekender. (Blue Rhapsody and Boysenberry!). The Metropolitan is not a large bag. To me it is the perfect "for work travel" bag. It has a cross body single strap as well as carry handles. It fits very nicely under airplane seats. I reall like that it has a protective sleeve for a laptop or ipad, lots of pockets for organization and a large panel across the back that allows you to slide it over the pull up handle of a large suitcase so it stays secure and you don't have to lug it around. It carries all my files, and some extra this and that, but it fills up pretty quickly. I carry it between schools too when I'm having a traveling day. It's like an oversized briefcase! But prettier! So for me, I find it to be an extremely useful bag in terms of work.

The Weekender is just that...perfect for getaways and/or packing a carry on for a short trip so you don't have to pay baggage fees! It's more a piece of luggage as opposed to a pretty brief case. I love the weekender as a carry on when I'm going on vacation. I also pack it for weekend seminars etc...of course I usually have my Metropolitan with me if I'm working...but I pack the weekender as my "suitcase" and my work stuff goes in the Metropolitan. Sadly they sort of clash color wise...:lmao:

Was that helpful at all? If you have any specific questions I am always glad to discuss Vera bags!!!:thumbsup2

Luggage is 20% off through Sunday. Does anyone know if the 17" Rolling Tote will fit under the SW seats? I found the seat measurements on the internet but I want to hear from someone who actually used this. I'm thinking it's too big.

Very helpful, thank you!! So they aren't too similar, it sounds like I might "need" one of each :goodvibes I wonder if I can use the Metropolitan as a carry-on for a laptop, plus camera & camcorder. I can't tell if it's too thin for those (neither is really big, but both are bigger than the small cameras).
