Veepstakes, McCain edition

Where can I sign up for the Text Msg so I can be THE FIRST too know????:lmao:

:lmao: Silly rabbit! Texts are for kids!

I think this might be released the good old fashioned way, through reporting and a press release.

I think he will choose Romney, McCain is a bit to center for many on the far right who he has to count on for votes come November. Rather than risk them sitting at home, I think he will choose someone who A.) gets the Religious conservative vote and B.) someone who has experience in economics 101.

Do I like the choice? No. I think that he SHOULD choose Lieberman if he truly wants to show us he is a MAVERICK and is willing to UNITE the country. He still has my vote as the alternative is unbearable to me.

I don't think the news has been covering this.
You wouldn't because evidently you're okay with how things are, in that regard. :sad2:

Incidentally, killing is the weakest form of obstruction. It creates martyrs, which is counter-productive to the intended aim. The really smart zealots find a way to kill the soul of what they hate, without killing people.

I'd LOVE Colin Powell as the VP. If he picks Romney, I won't be happy.

Uh-huh. You know what kills souls? Socialism kills souls. And moral relativism, that kills souls, too. So does killing babies and calling it a "choice," that's a total soul killer. Political correctness kills souls, because it seeks to control what people freely think. As for Christians? I think they're in the soul saving business, and I'm pretty sure they still give you the freedom to take it or leave it.

Huckabee !

If he chooses Romney, it will take McCain longer to count the kitchen tables:eek:

I agree. I'm a real conservative -- not a fake one like most of the Republican Party, who only talk conservatism and then try to legislate their religious beliefs onto everything. Despicable.

And moral relativism, that kills souls, too.
BS. That's just more rationalization for imposing your own personal values and beliefs onto others. It's an immoral perspective, AFAIC, and I'll consistently condemn it in the strongest terms (rationalization, tyranny, intolerance, hate -- take your pick), because it seems response-in-kind is the only thing that ever registers over the patter of such self-serving prattle.

Lieberman would cinch a McCain vote from me.

ITA. I believe that is the only ticket which will get me to vote on election day. Of course I really REALLY can't stand Joe Biden on a personal level (used to work around the man and he has a bigger God complex than Bill Clinton - that's saying something) and kind of wish the Earth would open and swallow him, so.....

I honestly look forward to an election where I can stand in front of the ballot and smile and not have to mutter "God forgive me" before pulling the lever.

Interesting -- I always like to hear from people who have actually met politicians. While I think the issues are of utmost importance, I can't neglect the personality of the candidate. After all, half the stuff that comes out of their mouths is just done for political expediency.

PS. Geez, if his God complex is anything like Obama's - wowweee!!

I'm reading this morning that the pro-choice trial balloon McCain's campaign sent up for his VP slot wasn't about Lieberman, but rather Colin Powell, who apparently isn't going to be endorsing Obama. He's a bit too moderate for me, but that would be a smack-you-in-the-face game changer, and it would make Biden's "foreign relations experience" (30 years of sitting on committees) look rather lame.

It definitely has to be someone who can hold his own with Biden's sound and fury in a debate — so that would be Romney.
Powell would be an amazing choice. If he was to choose Powell, I think it would be a landslide.

I think he will choose Tom Ridge though.

Here's the story. I was on the elevator with Senator Biden, Senator Chafee (the first), and Senator Chafee's assistant in the Capitol. Now, I was a no-nothing so no need to say anything to me, HOWEVER we were all going to the outer chamber area. When the elevator doors open I was closest to the doors. I began to walk out when Senator Biden quite literally pushed me out of the way so he could get off. Senator Chafee then extends his hand passed the door to keep it open and in a very loud voice tells his assistant, "we may be Senators, but we are gentlemen first," and motions for me to go ahead. Senator Biden just turned and gave Senator Chafee a nasty look. It was truly priceless. In general he's just a walking bad word. He has no problem with treating people as though they are beneath him (the above is not uncommon.)

I was also friendly with staff members from his office and, in general, he acted as though his poop smelled like roses. Now, big egos are not uncommon in the Senate but his really surpassed the general expectation. FTR - I didn't work at the Senate when Senator Obama was elected but I have heard nothing but good things about him as a person.

What are you eating? YOu can't be serious!

Wasn't Powell off the table years ago? I thought he stated in no uncertain terms that he did not want an elected office.

Good picks - Palin, Romeny and Jindal
Mediocre pick - Pawlenty
Bad picks - Powell, Ridge and Lieberman

he will pick Pawlenty

Huckabee would be my first choice for VP
I would love also to see Rice, Powell.

I'm not a Romeny fan at all, there something about the man that seems fake

YEP and I live in MA and had him for governor. Oh and he can speak circles around O'Bie and it does not need to be scripted. He is one silver tounged devil.

I think that is what turned me off to him. You have to keep an eye on those smooth talking men.;) I personally don't have anyone who would get me all excited, but I would be most disappointed with Huckabee. I believe Lieberman would be given a cabinet position.
