Moderates. It's more of a personal preference than a financial one. I like the fact that there is a mini-fridge in the room. I like the fact that the resorts are more spread out and more landscaped. I guess I just like the theming more, and they suite my personal taste better.

When we are going on Vacation we like a little down time
so we will only stay at MODs. MODs are in our budget
and are worth every penny. They have TS restaurants,
Hot Tubs, beautiful landscaping without large Icons.
They are also very quiet even if they are full.
I think all of the MODs are great--you won't go wrong with
any MOD that you choose.

My family has stayed at both and for the amount of time we spend at the hotel, I say the Mods for us. We only sleep there and maybe one day at the pool. For me the extra $500 to 600 is not worth it.

I absolutely will not stay at a value. They're cute, but the buses are awful. Buses will fill up in the morning and it takes awhile for another one to show up. They are also too loud. Not only can you hear people outside, you can hear your neighbors too.

I have never experienced any of this during our value stays. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just that its never happened to our family. We always had excellent bus service and at POP, which is supposed to be busy in the summer, we never waited more than 10 minutes if the first bus was full. That's JMHO.

Now because its just DH and I this trip, we wanted something a little different so we're going to POFQ. We'll see what happens;)

I have stayed at all levels (expect DVC) of Disney resorts and my favoite Disney owned resort is All Star Music.

I find that the mods are too spread out and I do not care for the multiple bus stops (4 at CSR, 5 at PO 1st stop POFQ and 4 more at POR and 7 at CBR)
Since I depend an ECV and only 2 WC's/ EVC's can be on a bus I would need to be at the 1st or 2ed stop or I may have to wait for 4 or 5 buses.

Here are a few reasons I enjoy staying at All Star Music :

1. I can book a preferred room location.
The way All Star Music is laid out it "seems" smaller than most of the other Disney resorts. Since I book a preferred building and then I can only see the Calypso and Jazz builings on the way to and from the main pool , the bus stop and food court. Since I stay in preferred room I know I am going to be close to the food court, bus stop, & main pool.

2. I enjoy the theming at the All Stars. All Star Music is also is the quietest of the values. Generally less people stay there and there are more seniors and couples and less young children because children enjoy the themes of the other values more.

3. The bus service at the All Star Music is very good. Since I use an EVC good bus transportation is essential.

4. The entry at the values and Mods are much more Handicap friendly.
I am able to get in and out of my All Star room unassisted. This way my husband can go and play a round of golf and know I can leave my room to relax by the pool if I choose.

I have never had an issue with the buses when I stay at All Star Music.
In the mornings buses usually arrive every 5 to 10 minutes.

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values,AKL, and SSR are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

value was fine when the boys (14 &16 YRS) were small, as they became pre-teens moderate was fine. Now that they are the size of men, and I need my privacy we go only deluxe.

I like value because we basically only sleep there, and dont see Mod as worth the extra money.

Well I have voted value as I am sure you knew I would because I started the thread earlier lol.

I have to say I have found all of the ensuing discussions really interesting and with regards to the reasons people like the mods they have not convinced me yet but then I have not had any of the issues they have mentioned at the values at all.

I found the bus service at pop fantastic a million times better than CSR as was the customer service and the shop which have all sold me on POP.

Regarding the steak comment yeah its great if you are on DDP to get steak there but had I bought it OOP it cost me well over $20 which means I could have lunch at Le Cellier for less I know what I would pick lol.

The TS restaurant at CSR served the worst meal I have ever ever eaten so that definitley didn't sell it for me.

I am values all the way.

With little kids, we like the values. The theming is awesome.

However, as our kids get older we may decide on the moderates, especially if we spend more time at the resorts. There is definitely more to do at a moderate.

If you have the money to spare, I would go for the moderate (also if you get a good deal/code). I always go for the value resort though because I prefer to spend my money on good food and in the parks instead. I have found ALL the value resorts to be great resorts and I am very picky with cleanliness. I don't mind walking to the bus stops either because they don't seem far at all. Especially since your going to be walking around the parks all day anyways.

I think it all depends on you though.

For us, it's moderate or off-site. Just looking at the pictures of the values give me a headache. I love the beauty and tranquility of the mods. I like to relax after a long day at the parks, and I wouldn't get that at the values.

But I love that there are options for everyone!

If I were to stay at a Value, it would be All Star Music.

Also, I think of the mods as beeefed up values for a much higher price. Mods are my least favorite. Usually, for a little bit more you could stay at a deluxe AKL room and I would do that in a heartbeat over a mod, if I were do either one.

I have seen some people use this logic, and I don't see how it is based in fact :confused3

2008 Value season rates:
Value- $82
Moderate- $149
AKL or WL- $225

There is a $67 difference to go from a Value to a Moderate, and a $76 to go from a Moderate to a Deluxe. So what you are saying is not accurate. The jump from Value to Mod is cheaper than Mod to Deluxe, and not ust "for a little bit more."

I have never stayed value, only mods and deluxes......but I find the mods a WAY better value than the deluxes as far as what your getting for your $$. For us, when we think of "going to Disney" the first thing that comes to mind is staying at Riverside:love: even though its not the only place we have stayed. The values dont have the appeal that I look for in a resort, there just too big for me, I guess.

I've only stayed at moderate or deluxe, and prefer mod for the money. I don't think I'd mind value, except my kids demand a pool slide, though I have read horror stories on here about noise, excessive drinking, etc., at the values (one person wrote about a family dragging cases of beer down the hallway to their room every night -yikes!). I think the bigger debate would be mods vs. deluxe. I just do not see the benefits of the much-more-expensive deluxe resorts. I really like stepping out of my room to the outdoors. It just feels fresher and more "vacation-y."

Sounds funny, but we prefer either a value or a deluxe (Polynesian!!) We stayed in a moderate once and didn't feel it was worth the extra $$ over the value. But, unless we're staying at the Poly, we're not resort people. Just want to be semi-close to a bus stop and to food courts, etc, so a value is a better choice for us. Moderates are so spread out. JMO.

Value. Not that many more amenities, IMO, at a mod. If I'm going to spend the extra money, I'm staying deluxe. If I'm going cheap anyway, I'll go really cheap and stay at Pop. Also, I hate the numerous bus stops and they huge layout of the mods.

I will pick value every time. I really really dislike the internal bus stops at the mods you get on and make stop after stop or the busses are full by the time they reach your stop and you have to wait for the next bus. At the values there is one bus stop you get on and off you go. Sure at park closing the lines for value busses are long, but they keep the busses coming and the lines move fast.

Also the mods are really really spread out, so if you are staying in a building far from the food court, you have to take a bus or walk half an hour. The values are large but the building are closer together the walk from the farthest building is not as far as the walk from the farthest buildings at a mod.

I will not stay at a mod again, it is value or deluxe for us.

Agreed! I've never been able to make myself pay the extra $$ for a moderate over value, especially when I'm able to get the value with an AP discount. There just wasn't enough of a difference between amenities to justify the difference in price. For us it's value or deluxe, and now that we own DVC I'll probably never stay at a moderate.
