UPH W/DVC discount for guests?

We never really use UPH tickets so I am not so familiar with the policy.

I was told by a DVC CM that only the people sharing a room with me are eligible for the discount. I was suprised because I thought I would be able to use the discount for all my family that I am traveling with and are staying on my points. We have a total of 10 people in a 2 bedroom and a studio, all on my points. However only those in my room get the discount?

Does this sound right to others who have done this? Or were you able to get the discount on all the tickets?

If this is true I'll have everyone else pre order tickets. Funny, this was the one time I thought this would be a good deal for us!

I think the CM got her discounts mixed up - the only one I know about that you have be in the room - is the room discount - not the ticket discount?????

but I haven't use it - I don't like UPH.

I know some family members that I send got the DVC member discount and I wasn't even there.

Of course they do change the policy - but I though they needed to tell us first?????

The written rules say it's only for the party staying in the unit WITH the member. That being said, I haven't heard of DVC enforcing that rule in some time, even if the member we not present at all. Is it yourself and a spouse, if so, just list one in each unit and there will be no question. You can always do this along with your guests name.
Discounted Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket may be purchased only by DVC Members and accompanying Guests, staying in the same Vacation Home, on a Vacation Points reservation or Member cash discount reservation
“Entire length of stay” refers to the actual dates of the entire stay and not the length of a specific reservation.
Though they routinely will allow you to drop the first and/or last day, they are not required to do either. At least it's not for everyone in the party for DVC members, like so many similar options are for non members.

Hmmm.

Well, we don't need them to drop days because we will use the parks on all days including checkin/checkout days.

It seems a drag to have to list my husband on another room. Then we have shuffle keys, who has what ticket, etc...

I thought this was going to be a pretty good option for our group. We all will use the parks each day. We may have some Pleasure Island an Disney Quest trips by some memebers of the group. AND I am the organizer (including ticket chooser) for all. I thought instead of everyone having different types of tickets, and needing to keep track of keys and tickets for all including kids and an older adult - everyone gets a key that includes a ticket that is good for everything - would make all of our lives easier. With the DVC discount it brought the 5 day UPH close to the 5 day Park Hopper price.

But now it looks like maybe some in the party will have to pay more than others. Of course maybe the VWL CM will not enforce the rule and will give all the discount? I just really hate to count on a rule bending.

I guess I could list my husband on the other room and an adult from that room in my room. Then have them swap room keys. UGH.

Is there some other easy solution that I am just missing?

First, just list one of you on BOTH reservations plus the others. Secondly, they will likely give you the discount regardless of the written rules (they have for some time) so it may not be an issue anyway. I think you're making it too complicated and that it will likely work out without a hitch.

To me, this quote states that in order for guests to get the discount they must stay in the same vacation home ie in BWV and not necessarily the same room.

A vacation home IS the room in DVC terminology.

This is me taking a deep breath. I'm sure you're right on both counts. I'm thinking everything over, insideout and backwards. I just want everything to go well for this family trip. I'll try to remember the best way to have that happen is to relax!

Thanks,
Tammy

Have a great trip and let us know how it goes.
