Our Guide called today about AKV (We just adore our Guide...the best EVER!! ) and got a little bit of news that I wasn't aware of. If this has already been posted, I apologize in advance.

Our Guide said the new TS restaurant in the new Villas building will be called Sanaa and it will seat 150. In addition it will also have a Lounge area that will seat 24.

Everything about this resort just sounds so wonderful and unique. I feel like there is just nothing else quite like it anywhere! What an awesome addition to DVC, and congratulations to everyone who can now call this amazing resort HOME!!!

I thought my guide said not til the end of the year and then it will be prorated to your UY, mine is OCT. So I will owe for 4 months of 07.

I also have an Oct UY and was told my dues will be pro-rated from Oct 1st, so that's just 3 months for 2007.

I don't know what happens for those with UYs of September or earlier. I expect their dues will be pro-rated from the first date the points can be used, which will be some time in early September.

i am already calling akv my home, we have always loved to stay there or just visit for the beautiful view, animals and food.

i have read the thread about rooms and restaurant but what about the new swimming pool? that is important too. does anyone know what it will be like? hone to me and the rest of you.

Your sentiments are mine! I love the name Sanaa by the way, DH loves the actress Sanaa Lathan (Christian's last girlfriend on nip/tuck). I've always thought her name was beautiful.

We had to buy AKV. There is no resort like it anywhere in the U.S. We are just smitten everytime we visit AKL. It is just a work of art and so exotic and unique. We can't wait for our first stay there.

I LOVE it! Very dear friends of ours just named their dd this. It is spelled Sana'a and is pronounced like Shania (like in Twain), but without the H. It means Beautiful Girl in Swahili (sp?)! Also the capital of Yemen!

Interesting. Sanaa in Swahili means "to craft" or "to construct"....it implies skilled craftsmanship...more like art (at least as a verb). As a noun it literally means artwork (like a piece of artwork).

Forgot to ask my guide! Does anyone have clarification of when rooms can be booked for owners at AKV? Also if I have a June UY do I have to wait until June to get my points for a ressie or can I book in April/May when we can start booking?

I mentioned earlier that 35,000 AKV points is only 95 points per day or the equivalent of two studios, two 1 bedrooms and one 2 bedroom per day or a total of 5 members per day? I'm wondering if that number should have been 350,000. Or maybe that number is just for existing DVC members in the presale for addons.

Based on those of us who bought on Feb 1 and got a % ownership in Unit 35, I calculated that total points for just Unit 35 are approximately 35,295. That's just one unit and we know they are selling points in more than one unit.

Scotch I will check. I have had a little trouble reaching any of my sources this week (wonder why ) I have reported the WEBSITE bugs to both my guide and Deep-Croaker.

I currently don't know the sales rate. Initiially two of my sources said they expected initial sales to be much slower than SSR's preconstruction. I had wondered at that, but seeing how IMHO poorly the AKV pre-sales have been handles, I think it may have been deliberate to continue SSR on the road to sell-out.

I mean no point charts, having to recall point charts, no models..... What were they thinking?

Not to mention no floorplans, no artist's renderings of the interior of the villas, no official description of the villa view types, no official word on how many concierge villas there will be and what the amenities will be, no idea how they are going to manage the booking of those few concierge villas, no info on whether those staying at AKV can use the pool at AKL and vice versa and whether there will be a walking path between the buildings...

I expected we would have more than just point charts by this time.

I would be interested in some correct information on this as well. I have been given nothing but incorrect info so far, even from my guide and another, that I dont trust anything being said. I too want to wait a couple more weeks to add on. I was told by both guides that I shouldn't be concerned about a sell out at all, won't happen, I have plenty of time. I was told that what will sell out is a Use Year and then I could have to take a different UY other than my own.
