*UPDATED*greenban EXCLUSIVE: FINAL AKL UPDATE

:faint: i have recieved conflicting information. one guide says you can call april 1st. to make reservations, another says you can not call for those reservs. until may 16th. i am talking about reservations at akv its self not at another dvc resort. :confused3
i was also told that 150 pts would get you on the commemorative hanging. then i read on this dis that it takes 151 or more points.
i purchased thru my guide on 2-2-07 but the charge has not been put on my cc yet!! i hope he will get it thru in time.

i guess i am just too excited and should not worry so much.;)

Technically, the cost is still $101 per point. The $8 is a credit to offset part of the cost, much like a down payment.

Semantics, :rotfl:

She got back to me with her "revised" answer so we all win, :rotfl:

Tracy,

If you add 100 points you can have either a discount of $8 per point or 100 developer points to use over the next 7 months--they cannot be banked.

I understood 150+ points for the commemorative hanging. Even the press release states the Bonus for 150 or more points.

Not sure what they're going to do about reservations, but I imagine they'll have that worked out in the next week or so after the dust settles.

With the amount rooms being so many at the end of completion (458 from what I hear), is it worth adding on at this resort to have it as your home resort if you are patient and willing to wait to make a reservation at AKV?

Just what I needed to be reminded of. I would like a Savannah View room if I am going to stay. With the high number of units and the percentage of those which will be SV, maybe I'll take a chance for a while to see what ressies are like.

At peak times, it will be hard to get a Savanna View. I think the biggest factor with having this as your home resort is the club level rooms.

I think the concierge will be the most difficult to get since there are so few rooms (I don't think there will be concierge in the new building). Everything else should be okay if you're flexible ... imo ... ;)

This is correct.

However, I still don't expect it to be much more than 150 people. Here is my rational. There are only 35,000 AKV points available, divided by 150 points is around 233.333333 founding members, BUT, many Owners are doing smaller add-on right now, reducing the number of points. So I expect we will have about 150 or fewer founders anyway.

If the DVC 'finds' additional points, then all bets are off!

Where are you getting the 35,000 AKV points available? Thats only 95 points per day or the equivalent of two studios, two 1 bedrooms and one 2 bedroom per day? 5 members per day doesn't seem to cut it.

Are you sure its not 350,000 AKV points available right now which would be 950 points per day or something like 20 studios, 20 1 bedrooms and 10 2 bedrooms per day or 50 members. I thought over 100 rooms were available on the 5th and 6th floors.

Now if they are just selling enough points for the last 4 months then we would have around 120,000 points.

So with concierge costing over $100 per night to add to deluxes normally how can a concierge room be so cheap? How many concierge rooms will there actually be? Full benefits? Is this info regarding concierge anywhere in writing?

Here's a question I"ve not seen asked or answered (I transplanted it from another thread which might not have been the best place to ask): Anyone know if, in a 1BR, BOTH rooms (the BR and the living area) will have their own balconies? I know there are no models, but...I'm thinking maybe someone asked their guide or has some inside info...

I hope so. It would make sense given the savannah is the "main attraction".

I just asked my guide that very question this morning! The AKV (not lodge) villas of 1bedroom or larger will have a large balcony that will include both the master bedroom and the living room area. That puts it in a catagory more like the OKW balcony.

I'm sure you will love AKV. It will be a great place to relax each trip.

It's just that, ever since you started posting about buying there, I've had this vision in my mind of them laying out the red carpet for you on your first stay, with African dignitaries welcoming you and your entourage (I guess that would be your DH!) for your first official visit to AKV. Other "citizens" of OKW will be on hand, shouting "Long live the queen!" as you walk by. :worship: :worship: :worship:

You don't breed corgis by any chance? That would certainly make your royal persona complete! (For those who don't know, the queen of England loves corgis and has several of them.)

LOL, Lisa! I missed this until this morning! No, I breed another royal British breed though! Airedales...King of the terriers!

That's awesome! Thanks!

Any word on the lodge "version" of the 1BR's? I'm assuming 2 seperate balconies, since otherwise it would mean, quite literally, stripping a balcony off one of the rooms!

I didn't ask that question, but the one piece of information that I got from a specific question made me VERY happy...All room catagories will have savanna views as an option and a request! The only way you are guaranteed a savanna view is by using that booking catagory, but 78% of all rooms will have a savanna view, so it can be requested at any catagory level.

VWL has access to the balcony from the living room and master bedroom too, no?

ssshhhhhhhhhh! Diane!!! No one was figuring that out. We could have had those value savannas all to ourselves.:sad2: ;)

LOL! I have been trying to figure out how many points to add-on, and I planned by figuring points for a Savanna view 1 bedroom. I asked the specific question about the view, because I had remembered him telling me last week that 78% of the villas would have savanna view. I figured there had to be views in all catagories. He did say that it would likely be difficult to get the value savanna view requests without requesting that at the 11 month window. Thta leads me to believe they are going to put a lot of weight on the date that requests are made.

Our 1 bedroom did not have two balconies. Just the one off of the Living Room with no access from the Master...just a window there.

Really? Do you remember the room number? We had a little side door that took us onto the balcony from the master. Hmmm ...
