*UPDATED*greenban EXCLUSIVE: FINAL AKL UPDATE

Does anyone know if the sales for AKL is going well? Any idea how many points are still available?

PLEASE don't think I am questioning that you are wrong. You know what you were told. I am questioning if you were given correct info. It is just confusing me, because as of tomorrow, technically, I don't think I officially own AKV points. We have not closed. I did not think we could do anything with our points until the we closed. :confused3

To make you feel better, I will call tomorrow AM.
When you add on at a resort that is already open you can use your points immediately. You don't have to close first. If you use some points and later back out of the purchase, Disney would deduct the cost of the points you used from the money you already paid them and refund the balance.

In this case, you bought points at a resort that does not open until September. So you cannot take a trip using those points until after AKV opens. But there is no reason you cannot book that stay in advance because you aren't really using the points until you take the trip.

OH, I didn't think you doubted me. I was giving wrong information the one day from MS, so I am sure it can happen and will happen again. They aren't perfect and this is all new to everyone.

And you can book with your points prior to closing, but you can't travel on them. When we added on in late September, we had those pts booked the day they were in the system. We didn't close for a few months after that. I didn't even pay for the points until late November in fact, or send in the paperwork. Disney has nothing to lose, they will just take the pts back!

Yes I got all of the incentives. The key was I ordered all 5 50-pointers at the same time, same contract titling. My guide, the great Kelly Jo did the rest!

-Tony

P.S. If I wasn't financing for a year, I could have had 10 25-pointers......

:cool1:

Tony,

KJ is our guide as well. Oddly, she told us the price was $101 a point, after I asked about the incentives on an add-on purchase of 100+ points. :confused3

Maybe she is forgetting something, lol!

This is copied from the DVCmember.com website, so it sounds like maybe she was forgetting something!

Plus, if you purchase an Ownership Interest in Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas equal to 100 Vacation Points or more, you can receive a credit of $8 per Vacation Point

Unless you take the developer points. It's one or the other the way I understand it, so if you opt for the points, the price is $101. :smokin:

Right ... you can 'give up' the developers points and take an $8/pt credit ... that's what we did ... ;)

Tony, I have a sneaking suspicion I was right behind you in line for points at AKV. My guide said there was one other member that qualified as a founder ahead of me.

Anyway, I bought a 200 pointer, and may do another 100. I considered breaking that up into smaller contracts, but felt the added closing costs during resale would make the price less attractive.
Not sure of the closing costs, but couldn't that add $10/pt to a small contract?

Now, for the real question...
Where can I get that "AKV Founder" signature? :thumbsup2

Welcome Home Neighboor!

Anyone is free to copy my 'modified' AKV siggie. Right click, go to properties and either past it, or save it to your own image thingee.

Please note, I copied my original off another's user on this site. I did not note the name, nor did I ask for permission, which I appoligize for. If the Owner would like deserved credit, or me to stop using their work, please let me know.

Hmmmm.

She has been spot on with accurate info for me.

Perhaps all the sales have made her sleep deprived?

Call her back, and let us know.......

Has it occurred to anyone else that allowing AKV owners to book AKV starting on May 16 and all other DVC members to book starting on June 6 violates the minimum home resort booking period of one month? -- Suzanne

Excellent pickup!!!

Wonder if the dates will 'magically' change to protect the 30 day period, or if pre-sale points have different rules?

Hi Kelly Jo!

We just got the mailing on the Animal Kingdom villas. Can you tell us the cost (with the $8 savings) on the 100-point add on?

Thanks so much!

LOL, I am thinking she forgot, :rotfl: because her response was "101 a point." We'll see what she says as I wrote her back again inquiring. She has always been a fabulous guide. (To the tune of 400 points, lol)

you know this is almost unfair. the new DVC members who join at AKV can't be on the list because they aren't already DVC members.

oh well.

hope everyone that wants their name to be listed on the Founder's Tapestry will get it!!! :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo:

Boy, DVC sure does think of ways to make presales more exciting!

Sorry if this is off topic but I have a question. Our SSR contract is almost paid off and we were not looking for a new contract but... AKV came along! Has anyone every had 2 contracts financed through DVC at the same time? I am not crazy about this but I don't want to miss out on the discount.

Yes. In the past I've had as many as three financed at once.
I just added two AKV contracts, one of which is financed. I also still have one VWL contract financed, so that makes two for me now. :smokin:

Our BCV contract is almost paid off. Just waiting on our tax return. We purchased AKV points on Thursday, and it was never even mentioned.

So, if I wasn't planning on paying off BCV within the next month, I would have an overlap if it didn't get paid off within 90 days.

Our loan with AKV isn't due until 90 days from now.

Thank you both for the quick response!! We are going to be selling our house in the spring and plan to use a little of that money to pay for our add on. But we will have to finance until then.

Technically, the cost is still $101 per point. The $8 is a credit to offset part of the cost, much like a down payment.

did I see someone mention that a concierge "villa" was an option?! Does that include the perkies? For 119 points (studio) for the week that would be really nice! Anybody know about this?

Perkies as in Percocet tabs, sadly no. Concierge Level Perks, absolutely!
