i have not seen any paper work yet but when i called dvc today with other questiions i was supprised to find out that i am already in the system as a akv owner! now was that fast or what? my guide is really firsts class!

Today, my DH called the # on the promo page (to leave another message for our "phantom guide" ..........but that's another story), and he was also told (by the woman at the SSR DVC center) that there was no hurry, and they're NOT being flooded for AKV purchases!
My impression, especially after reading these boards is that there's a pretty big demand for AKV from fellow members. Wonder what's the real story.

as for sell out, it would be possible that a uy would sell out if it is a really high demand use year. i guess another question you might ask yourself is if it is important that you be known as a founding member of akv. i thought it might be nice since my other pts were not as founding members but were purchased later. since we have always loved akl i am excited about being in on akv from the beginning. this is my third home. am i crazy?

I finally talked to my guide today and he confirmed there is no rush; I'm fine if I want to wait to buy on the last day of the $8 off incentive. He said he is not aware of any points cap, or if there is one, he is pretty sure it is nowhere near the 35,000 mark; he said he thinks he has sold that amount already.

Not that I think many of you that are following this thread are really watching this, but they also released the 2008 Cruise Schedule & started selling the '08 cruises on the 31st & still haven't posted the point charts for the cruises... Very uncool in my book...those should have been published for release on Jan. 31 to coincide with the sale of the '08 cruises. There is just no possible good reason for that one. That's a big disadvantage for any member who's trying to book one of those West Coast cruises and are trying to decide between using pts. or paying cash - as they raise the price on the cruises daily to correspond with sells.

(My point is that DVC seems to have dropped the ball in more than one game...)

if this dis shows that a lot of people are interested in buying into akv then there are probably a lot of people buying that don't dis or don't even know about this site. also of all the responses on this dis, many replys are from the same people posting over and over. i, for one, have posted several times but i am only purchasing for one postee.

it did not take me anytime to decide as i had already been waiting for ak long before it was even mentioned at wdw. it just happened to be a dream of mine from the first time we stayed there for a week and i threw coins in the fountain down by boma and made my wish to be able to come back there every year. so far that wish has come true and i think that was in 2002, or 2001???? and long before we were dvc members.

No rush for sell out? Or no rush for consideration for the tapestry? 35k points by one guide sure seems like a lot ... that's like 200 150pt add-ons.

The "no rush" referred to my concern that I had heard there was a max of only 35,000 points being sold right now and I asked if I waited until February 28, the last day for the $8 off incentive, whether all the 35,000 points supposely available for sale for this phase would be gone. I hope that clarifies my previous comment.

my guide tells me that the sales are exceeding expectation. it sounds good for akv but ruff for those who want to wait a little while. when will sales be open for the public (non members)? will it be after the number of pts reserved for members are sold or will it revert to a date status?

hi, its me again.

i just received a bill from dvc for the down payment on my akv purchase. it actually is for the entire purchase price. i have already paid the down payment and it has cleared my cr.c. i still have not received a contract. shouldn't i receive a contract first? i must find out from my guide what is going on. when i can get in touch with him.

Does anyone know if you can use your AKV points now to stay at another resort? This is of course after all the paperwork is signed and such.

You can not use your AKV points until September 1st. You can however make reservations now at other resorts for stays after September 1st.

I do not believe this is accurate. Reservations for AKV will begin in May for AKV owners and June for all other DVC owners.

I believe the person was saying that for stays at other resorts, the stay must be after September 1st also. So no using your AKV points to stay at OKW in July.

This is the way I understood it from my guide as well. I think the reason must be is AKV will not be available until that date, so points from that resort cannot be used elsewhere. I assume this is because techincally the points are not "valid" (for lack of a better word) until the resort is open.

Geez at least let some actual owners get first crack at some of the first reservations.

We've got 06 SSR points that I may put on the rent/transfer board, But I just don't feel right renting, I'd rather transfer to a fellow dvc'er, just my opinion!

Being such a limited amount of units and points, I wonder how they can promise and fullfill any request at AKV? I know they say you can start booking rooms in May, but that's not written in stone is it?
