Update on new CR shop please!

I am going down to Disney today and will check it out and get pictures. I was told the doors wouldn't be on yet, but that they'd have security on either side. But that was last week, who knows if they are on time? (I am sure they want to sell during this big week, though).

The main section of the lobby was supposed to be about done today, so we'll see if that is too.

I'll have them up tonight (whether open or not, though I was told last week that they were planning to open today). Plans change, though!

I don't know if they would do a pin, but we'll see. I was told there was a new pin coming out soon, but I don't know if it has to do with the store.

The only new pin that has recently come out for sale which has to do with the Contemporary is the Happy Holidays 2007 Resort edition with Tinker Bell and it went on sale November 13.

The shop is open, as the CM had told me. I'm getting the photos up now. Not everything is done. The doors not only won't be up this weekend, they probably won't be up for a month (I was told this is a soft opening). The Grand Opening should be closer to Christmas.

I just looked at the photos on you're site and all I can say wow! The new store looks amazing, so I can't wait to visit the Contemporary next month to look over there. Also thanks for taking the time to post the photos.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Maybe it is just me, but I think it looks very odd in that location. Like a temporary home until the real store opens. Maybe it seems less strange when you are inside of it. I'll find out for myself in a few days!

That is the new location for the store, besides why would they go threw all that construction to build it if it was only a temporary home like you said?

It is permanent, as much so as anything else (nothing is EVER completely permanent). But it is definitely NOT a temporary location.

It took 3 months to put it up. Sort of like when the wand came down, someone posted that it would be going back up "for Epcots 25th!". Why would they take something down that they just spent time and money to take down? :-D

Glad you liked the photos, I had been taking photos of it since it started going up. It's nice that it's done, now I can work on adding more ice castle desktops (don't have anything I like of the CR yet to put up, I don't think).

Soooo...around Christmas, expect a "grand opening" with doors installed at the Contemporary shop. Not sure if they'll have any unique merchandise. The lobby should be done - the large section, anyway - soon. Coffee shop will be moved, and is supposed to have an oven to make cinnamon buns in once moved (I was told that by a manager).

I know that I will be going to the Contemporary for sure when they have PTN on the 21st in December and hopefully I will go before then to look around, so I am not sure if I would be there for the grand opening with the doors. It's going to be a little weird for me at 1st not spending all my time there, however I am sure I will get over it very fast.

Anyway, heading to Epcot (for Lights of Winter pics). As far as the CR - I'll still be getting contstruction and lobby photos. Not sure if I'll go there for the store grand opening, definitely not a special trip!

PTN is Mickey's Pin Trading Night, which is held the 3rd Friday each month in one of the convention center rooms, where all pin traders get together and trade pins. A lot of the pin traders like to call PTN so we know what it means.
