UPDATE: Did I have birthday cake?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Hayley. She DID have a nice birthday.

We ended up getting her a gerbil (aka the rodent).

I would love to have a cuddly little kitten or puppy but that's a story for another day.

As for the cake...........I took a little taste & I hated it. I never liked buttercream icing to begin with. The reason why I took a taste was because I bought 1/4 sheet cake & NOBODY SHOWED UP!!!!!! I felt bad that my DD only had Dad to eat cake with (Garrett was already sound asleep).

So, I went back on my word a little but honestly I just took a piece, tasted the icing (bleck!) & threw it away.

Maybe the gerbil would like some? What is his/her name? My sister just got two little 12 week old boy kitties this week, I am hoping to share some pictures with you guys soon! I will cuddle one for you, ok?

Thanks for the support. I'm not mad at myself. I know that if we had other people here, I wouldn't even try it at all.

The gerbil is a girl, although I don't know how they can tell. Her name is Samy (that's how Hayley wants to spell it).

She is salt & pepper colored. Pretty cute.

I am a sucker for pups (dogs, too) & kitties. I took a trip to a dog rescue a couple of weeks ago & brought them some treats & toys. They were so sweet. My kids liked playing with them. It took a lot of strength not bring one home.

My DDs 3rd B-day was Wed. And I did eat cake. It wasn't even good cake. Just cake from a box with canned frosting. I don't even know why I did it. Unlike you, I kept eating and eating. But it did force me to recommit to Atkins (which I needed).

The test is Saturday. That's the day of her party and we will have good cake there. But because I messed up on Wed., I know I can't mess up on Sat.

Don't worry about the taste of cake! If it did not even taste good that is great. See, you don't even LIKE sugar anymore.

I am so sorry nobody showed up for the party. Sheesh. I hope she was OK with that.

Samy sounds cute, we need pictures I cannot even imagine going to a shelter to PLAY with puppies. I would be doomed. My house would be filled with puppies. You DO have quite the inner strength girl!

I'm glad you thought the frosting was yucky. Hope the taste didn't knock you out of ketosis, I'll bet it didn't.

I don't think it knocked me out of ketosis

I finally got a phone call from one of the invitees yesterday, turns out she had a stomach flu. But then she continued on how she was out on the boat wakeboarding that day, hmmmmmm

Well, she stopped by with a gift for Hayley yesterday & all is forgiven. It's hard to have a party because we just moved here & don't have any family around & just a few friends.

Thanks for worrying about Hayley, she said that she was a little sad but once she got another present, she was smiling ear to ear, lol.
