We just finished watching The Bridge to Terabithia. Sweet movie. Though I don't think the kids were that into it. They were WILD, jumping on each other, tickling and giggling, and of course that devolves into hitting and kicking and somebody getting hurt. Oyyyyyy...
DS7 (after being told 4 times) is finally brushing his teeth and getting to bed. DS3 claimed to want to go to bed, too, but I think he just wanted an excuse to sneak into DS7's room for more play/rough-housing. So I said, "Fine. Come downstairs with me," and I put a pillow and blanket on the couch, threw him in, and told him to go night-night. I popped a binkie in his mouth, and lo and behold, he is quiet! Still not asleep, but it's only been about 5 minutes.![]()
That's just unreal! You normally have them in bed by 7:20? And Alex tells you he's supposed to be in bed???Im glad you liked it! Yeah... my kids didn't watch it either... But I cant say I blamed them, I thought it was a little lame. But dh really liked it!I let my kids stay up late... til a whopping 8 oclock.
I know!! Alex was stunned!! I was getting Mikalah some Milk, and he walks in the kitchen, ummmm... Mommy? Its 7:20... Shouldnt I go to bed!

I'm lucky if I can get DS7 upstairs to brush his teeth by 8:30, much less in bed. And the teethbrushing thing takes some nagging, it drives me nuts! Last night when I reminded him to brush his teeth he flopped on the floor like he'd just been shot, and whined, "I don't WANNA brush my teeth!" I just stood there looking at him, because is this not something he does EVERY SINGLE NIGHT? Does he have amnesia? Does he think on the weekends he's on furlough from teeth brushing? I wanted to ask, "Did you SERIOUSLY think that was gonna work???" I just don't get it.![]()
Sweeeeeeet!Oh, and I wanted to tell you, your little trick has worked. Ever since I bribed him with a toy, he hasnt peed the bed since!![]()

I just saw a commercial that reminded me of something: The kids were eating lunch, and DS3 had a couple 'blond' Oreos. He actually twisted them and then ate the filling, then the cookies! I just started cracking up! No one in the family does that, so he must have learned it from one of the kids in his preschool (because they have lunch together.) I couldn't believe it!![]()
I don't know, DS7 loved to read and be read to in Kindergarten, that was his only homework. But now he fights doing any homework. When I sit down with him to do it, then he really seems to enjoy it, though, so I guess that's the trick. For the "math facts", Dh or I just write up a bunch of math problems for him to complete, then watch as he works them. He just needs to practice for 5 minutes, then 5 minutes of spelling practice. He gets a list of words to practice each week, and he's supposed to practice them every night.Alex gets a packet of homework a week... Thankfully, it is still new enough to him that he loves doing it!I dont know about my son... I swear the kid could just raise himself.
He is a really good kid, and I am pretty sure that I dont have a whole lot to do with it!
