We just finished watching The Bridge to Terabithia. Sweet movie. Though I don't think the kids were that into it. They were WILD, jumping on each other, tickling and giggling, and of course that devolves into hitting and kicking and somebody getting hurt. Oyyyyyy...

DS7 (after being told 4 times) is finally brushing his teeth and getting to bed. DS3 claimed to want to go to bed, too, but I think he just wanted an excuse to sneak into DS7's room for more play/rough-housing. So I said, "Fine. Come downstairs with me," and I put a pillow and blanket on the couch, threw him in, and told him to go night-night. I popped a binkie in his mouth, and lo and behold, he is quiet! Still not asleep, but it's only been about 5 minutes.

Im glad you liked it! Yeah... my kids didn't watch it either... But I cant say I blamed them, I thought it was a little lame. But dh really liked it!:lmao: I let my kids stay up late... til a whopping 8 oclock. I know!! Alex was stunned!! I was getting Mikalah some Milk, and he walks in the kitchen, ummmm... Mommy? Its 7:20... Shouldnt I go to bed! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It was way to funny!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: He was really excited that he got to stay up late!

That's just unreal! You normally have them in bed by 7:20? And Alex tells you he's supposed to be in bed??? :rotfl2:

I'm lucky if I can get DS7 upstairs to brush his teeth by 8:30, much less in bed. And the teethbrushing thing takes some nagging, it drives me nuts! Last night when I reminded him to brush his teeth he flopped on the floor like he'd just been shot, and whined, "I don't WANNA brush my teeth!" I just stood there looking at him, because is this not something he does EVERY SINGLE NIGHT? Does he have amnesia? Does he think on the weekends he's on furlough from teeth brushing? I wanted to ask, "Did you SERIOUSLY think that was gonna work???" I just don't get it. :sad2:

Yeah... Alex loves to brush his teeth too..:lmao: :lmao: Alex goes to bed at 7 on week nights. He knows this and goes accordingly. Mikalah on the other had...:sad2: ugh.. dont get me started on this kid!! But for the past 2 nights she has gone willingly, so I will take it!! Oh, and I wanted to tell you, your little trick has worked. Ever since I bribed him with a toy, he hasnt peed the bed since!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm trying to use the Love and Logic techniques, but I tell ya, they don't come naturally. But they REALLY WORK when I can keep my wits about me.

The other day I was trying to get him to do his reading homework before school, and he wanted to do it after school so he could watch a little TV before school. (We're normally pressed for time in the morning, but that day we were freakishly early!)

So I said, "All right, here are the choices: You could do your reading now and then when you get home from school you could knock out the math and spelling practice like that, and then have all afternoon to play. Or you could wait to do it all in the afternoon. That means we go straight home from school, do all your homework, then you rush off to soccer practice when Daddy gets home."

He thought about it for a sec then said, "I'll go do my reading right now!" Awwwww! :rotfl:

Alex gets a packet of homework a week... Thankfully, it is still new enough to him that he loves doing it!:lmao: I dont know about my son... I swear the kid could just raise himself. :confused3 He is a really good kid, and I am pretty sure that I dont have a whole lot to do with it!:lmao: :lmao: Ever since he was born, he just kinda goes with the flow!

I just saw a commercial that reminded me of something: The kids were eating lunch, and DS3 had a couple 'blond' Oreos. He actually twisted them and then ate the filling, then the cookies! I just started cracking up! No one in the family does that, so he must have learned it from one of the kids in his preschool (because they have lunch together.) I couldn't believe it!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Dh is an oreo HOUND... So one of the skills my children have known since birth is the "correct" way to eat an oreo!:rotfl2:

I don't know, DS7 loved to read and be read to in Kindergarten, that was his only homework. But now he fights doing any homework. When I sit down with him to do it, then he really seems to enjoy it, though, so I guess that's the trick. For the "math facts", Dh or I just write up a bunch of math problems for him to complete, then watch as he works them. He just needs to practice for 5 minutes, then 5 minutes of spelling practice. He gets a list of words to practice each week, and he's supposed to practice them every night.

I've also tried to get him more challenging books to read, and also books in things he's interested in. I found some Yu-Gi-Oh ones ( ) and he really seems to be enjoying them. He kind of liked the Jack Sparrow ones, but not enough to look for more of those, I think.

well... it looks like they have decide on dates for the ladies only trip. The last weekend in April.. I was hoping for May, not sure why, but the rates are cheaper then!

GEESH, I hate it when I get hung up!!!

Anyway, if I were thinking about going on the Girls Only trip, that would kill it. That is DS3's birthday! And my brother's. Actually, the following weekend is my Dad's birthday, too, but we often shuffle the dates a bit to accomodate getting the whole family together. We typically celebrate those 3 together since they're so close. Ah, well, I'm not sure I would have been able to do it anyway (leaving the babies behind.) It sounds sooo cool though!

Bummer!! I was so hoping you would give it a try! Oh well... Maybe some other time, huh? I was telling Dh that they had decided on a date, and he was like... Okay, whatever...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Are you even going to notice that Im not around? Im sure he will when the kids are bugging him for food!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Did you say he'll be taking time off work to watch the kids? That'll be a bit of an eye-opener, won't it? :rotfl:
