Universal has a ticket promotion right now that is buy two days of park to park and get two days free. I know the buy two days get one day free undercover tourist tickets were upgradable to a season pass, but are these since they are directly from Universal? We will be upgrading 4 of the tickets to the Seasonal passes and buying 2 just for family to use and trying to figure out what is the best way to do this.

Yeah...you will just pay the difference of a two day ticket instead of a four day ticket....probably about $50.

Thanks! So if that's the case, it would be cheaper to get UT tickets as they will bridge those tickets so a pass would only be $11 to upgrade. I wasn't sure if Universal would just give the credit for the amount of the ticket or if they would bridge the price.

So if you buy the Underground Tourist ticket, the money to upgrade to a season pass would only be $11? So, hypothetically, if UT cost $200 for the 2 day/2 free ticket, it would be $211 to upgrade to a season pass at Universal? I assumed it would be the same amount as the regular season pass, which we'll say costs $300. I wasn't sure if it was better to buy the discounted tickets and upgrade later or just buy the annual pass now.

It is cheaper to buy the undercover tourist buy 2 get one free and upgrade. Nobody has reported back about being able to upgrade the buy 2 get 2 free tickets yet.

Yeah, I am not buying that as being correct. The price difference in buying the ticket from Universal and a Seasonal Pass is $50...that is the difference you will pay. If you buy the same ticket cheaper somewhere else, you will still pay the same $50 difference...you are only saving however much less you spent on the ticket (which is still saving, just not as much as you might think)...right now you can get the ticket from UT for a total of $242.95 or from Universal for a total of $250.27 ($234.99 + taxes)...so, your total savings would be $7.32/ticket.

BTW, UT advertises this as saving $60 over gate prices...which is bull...gate prices are only $20 more than online...so it saves you about $30 over gate prices...which you aren't thinking of doing anyhow, right?

I'm definitely not buying gate tickets. I was originally in a vacation package before I read about the AP discounts. So I booked RPR for the discounts and am trying to make the best decision, AP wise, so that we're still saving money and not wasting it on the AP, since I don't know if I'll be back in a year. I kept seeing people saying they were upgrading for very little amounts of money, and I was getting confused. So if it's a matter of seven dollars, I'll just buy the AP off of the Universal website so that I have it, rather than waiting to upgrade at the parks.

Or am I still confused? I'm good at picking restaurants, saving money, not so much. :|

I'll refer you to this thread to see what people's experiences have been lately.

http://www.disboards.com/threads/my-ticket-experience.3562889/

Many people have upgraded the UT buy 2 get 1 ticket to a seasonal AP for around $11.

I had read through that post before and went back to it...some were saying the UT 2+1 day upgrade worked at $10.60, while others did not have that experience. Others mentioned that the UT 2+2 was not upgrade-able...find it hard to believe they aren't...at some price.

Also, there seemed to be discrepancy between Florida and Non-Florida resident pricing.

Anyway, I was just going by the Non-Florida resident pricing.

It still sounds like the savings is really still based on the difference in gate price and online price being figured in or out....so confusing. Maybe you can save an added $20 by buying online and then upgrading when in the park.

Everyone who upgraded the B2G1 from UT was able to upgrade for $10.60.

Nobody has reported back yet with the B2G2 ticket. One person had inquired with UT and was told they weren't upgradable..hence the confusion on that ticket.

Upgrading from UT 2 day one ark base ticket to a Seasonal *** was 55.00

Upgrading from UT buy 2 park to park get 1 day free to a Seasonal Pass was 10.60

We just did this on our vacation this past week.

So that makes the 2 day one park base the better deal, for a total of $248.99 (looking at current UT pricing) vs. $260.86 total for the 2 park 2 day + 1.

Thanks for the replies! We are going to go with UT two day park to park plus one day free tickets.

I read this over in another post, from January 12th:

Look into buying tickets at an authorized reseller. I got 2 day 2 park with a bonus day free from UT. Then I was able to upgrade while there to a Seasonal AP for only $35. Now I have a year minus blackout dates to revisit and also qualify for AP discounts on hotel rooms. You can book an AP rate room, buy it once you get there and then show it to the front desk.

Seems like there is plenty of variable mileage on this topic. I am going to call Universal sometime this week to discuss.

That person may not have used the ticket first.

Just an FYI, this wasn't me that said I upgraded a buy 2 get 2. That must have been included in a multi-quote or something.

I purchased a buy 2 get 1 free from UT and upgraded. Everything I read here said that upgrading the buy 2 get 2 wasn't upgradable.

Sorry, I got that from the 14th message in this thread. The quote is about 2 day with 1 day bonus. Apologies if that wasn't you.

I emailed Guest Services Communications (NBCUniversal, Orlando) about the promotion Buy 2 days get 2 days free.
My email:
Hi,
There is a promotion for buying a 2-day ticket and get 2 days free. Can I upgrade this ticket to a preferred annual pass? If yes, how much do I have to pay?
Can tickets purchase from Expedia still be upgradable or must I purchase through universal website?

Their response:
