OK, here I go again... ;)

I have PC booked at $49 a night. Can't beat that!

It is now a definite we are going, already bought MNSSHP tickets.
I am close to my use year and am going to have to borrow points to stay DVC thus why I choose PC with that great discount rate instead. I was worried hubby might have to back out.

But now that it is a go... I'm thinking why would I pay anything to stay at PC when I can stay at OKW with points we are already paying for. Does that make sense? Even though it includes a Saturday night it is still only 37 points for three nights for a studio.
(And as of yesterday OKW studio was all they had available for when we're going.)

Sooo, do I keep our cheap rate at PC or switch over to OKW with our points??? I can't decide!

UPDATE - I couldn't stand it. I booked OKW. It was driving me crazy to spend the cash (although little) on PC when I could just use points for OKW. I kept thinking what was the point in us buying DVC? Now I can use that cash towards our spending money. At least three nice meals out of it for the two of us. Plus, I've never stayed at OKW before! Thanks for everyone's opinions!

True, the $49 is a great price, but no hotel bill at the end is better! Besides, wouldn't you miss the "Welcome Home"s? I know I would!

"Keep PC, $49 rate too good!"
You will have a few more points for future trips.

I think we're going at the same time that you are. (MNSSHP on the 3rd?) We're staying at OKW because we want the DVC experience. This will be our first stay at OKW, and that may make the difference in our reasoning. We're still newbies!

We always use points when we can. Not sure I would want to stay at PC no matter what the price. We recently decided to add a couple days to our October trip and added a couple of studio nights at SSR before our OKW GV ressie starts.

Yes, Bobbi we'll be at MNSSHP on the 3rd! Already bought our tickets, but haven't got them yet.
Please say hello to us if you see us! We'll be Alice and Mad Hatter. Are ya'll dressing up? I'm starting to worry about feeling like a dork. Not a new feeling for me, though so I guess I'll survive!

I'm really torn about what to do. :hyper:

I happen to love PC - it is a very cute - true it is not OKW - but it is still a fun place - even has a lake.

that say look at it this way - your total bill will be $163.91 for 3 nights at the PC - for OKW you will pay points of 37 points - well 37 points can also be looked at as $370 (what you would get for them if you rent them at $10 a point).

Now is staying at OKW (although I certainly love it) worth more to you than saving money - if you need money - just rent enough points to cover your PC rent - 17 points would work.

than means you would still have 20 more points for another trip.

I wouldn't borrow to stay at a DVC property. Then you're already in the hole for next year, and you end up borrowing again and it starts a vicous cycle until you buy more points!;)

Thanks. At $49 per night I would think that that is the answer. If you are like me a spend a lot of time in the unit I would have voted the other way, but at $49 for a WDW Resort room, you can not go wrong. You can use your points some other way later.

..... because I have a question. Will borrowing points now affect future trips ? In other words, will you have to shorten your next trip ? always be in borrowing mode ? need to pay cash a couple nites - at deluxe rates, not AS rates - so you won't have to move from an AS to a DVC resort during a normal DVC trip ?

If the ripple affect of borrowing now will cause problems in the future, stay at PC.

I hope this doesn't sound too spoiled, but after staying with DVC we can't move down to an All Star resort no matter what the price.

We will definitely look for you at the party! We have our tickets. We used points that were designated for our Christmas trip, but family members who would have had a 1-bedroom canceled and so we booked a studio for our other son, and are going to OKW with most of the difference. We could have banked, but going to OKW is more fun.

We go the tee shirt route as far as costumes. DH will have a superman one, DS gave him it for Christmas many years ago, and DH only wears it when he's not apt to run into anyone he knows, I don't count. I have my glow-in-the-dark pumpkin tee that works for me.

We don't like eating in food courts. So, breakfast in the room or on our balcony is preferable.

I vote for PC at 49 a night and save your points. DH and I are going for Dec 2 to Dec 6 for that price also at PC.

Bobbi, how long did it take to get your tickets?

I didn't vote on the poll.....

Well...
Not really. Next use year we plan on an anniversary trip, spring break and then partly borrowing again for a VB trip and then for hopefully a HH trip, leaving us with enough to cover a week the following use year and that will be our only trip since we plan on a DCL that year, too.

So we're gonna be borrowing anyway next use year. The only difference this OKW trip would make would be the HH trip. Instead of a potential four nights in a one bedroom, we'd have to do either three nights or up to five nights instead in a studio.
The HH trip is not a certain either as I was planning on taking my Mom and girls only, but now Mom doesn't know if she can get off work since she'll be taking a cruise with my Dad next summer, too.

So not much difference I think. And now we have the AP where that future use year we won't. That year we planned on using our hopper options for the water parks and then maybe doing Universal, staying at SSR.

$49 is such a deal, I feel stupid to cancel it, but then again it would be $164 extra we could spend on our meals instead. This was a last minute trip that I'm now stashing away spending money for.

Oh, what a problem to have!

We ordered them on Aug. 11th and they came when we were away in Cape May. We got home on Sunday the 22nd and they were here. That was very very fast.

This past June we stayed at PC before and after our BCV trip and would do it again. WE lucked out with a room near the end of the building. Liked the food court, etc. I would do it again. Since it is a short trip, try it at that rate.

Something else to maybe consider in your planning is that for the past two years, there have been pretty good discounts available in the Fall for HH (even around Thanksgiving) for $99/night for a 2 BR. I know this is twice as much as PC but you get so much more in accommodations.
