Ugg boots for kids

I have been wearing UGGs for about 20 years (and I still have and can wear my original pair). I think they were more popular in the beach areas before other parts of the country even heard about them. For an adult, the investment is worth it because of the quality. They are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned, but I can only wear them during the winter because I am in So. Cal and it is just too hot other times (so they last a lot longer).

My DS had baby UGGs when he was little and also loved them (price was really cheap for those) but I stopped buying them when he outgrew the Baby version (I would not pay even the child's price for the regular boots....the kids just outgrow them so fast).

My DD is on her 2nd pair now and she can still wear her original pair even though they are 2 sizes smaller because the sheepskin inside adjusts to growing feet. I waited until she was much older before buying them just so that she wouldn't outgrow them too fast.

For a 3 year old, in my opinion, knock offs would be fine. For an adult, I would consider it a long-term investment and go with the quality of UGGs.

P.S. The prices for UGGs are consistent across retailers and most have agreements with UGG, so many times they won't allow discounts. I got lucky and got a 20% discount code to work once, but many times it comes back saying that the discount code is not valid on that item. So I wouldn't necessarily blame Nordstoms for the pricing.

No way would I EVER pay $120 for a pair of shoes for a 3 year old. Actually, I wouldn't even pay that for shoes for myself, but that's another story. DEFINITELY not a 3 year old. Especially since she'll grow out of them in like a month. If she really wants boots that badly go to Target and get some knockoffs!

DIZNYGRL, you get :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for this reply! Dead on what I would say. I wouldn't spend that much for shoes for myself, and I'm not going to outgrow them in a month!

The child isn't going to know the difference between the UGGS and the knockoffs...better to not encourage the idea of 'I must have the name brand because everyone else does"

Well I am the reason they make them for 3yo's:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Bought my DGD 2 pairs at Stride Rite chocolate & sand. Bought a size bigger so she gets more wear :thumbsup2

Heck I no longer have any kids at home, my house & car are paid off. So why not?!?!?

Plus she looks so cute in them & I never got to do the dress up thing with a daughter.

Personally, for me, it isn't just about the cost (although the cost is enough of a reason)...it's feeding into the idea, and teaching kids, that they have to have "the best" and name brand and designer items from the time they're very young. Just perpetuates the whole kids growing up too fast and having to have what adults have...the clothes, the spa treatments, etc.

They sell Uggs at Stride Rite?

My DD (8) has been wearing Uggs since she was about 4 years old.

Yes, they are pricey but I think she looks really cute in them. For the toddler sizes, they are about $90.

She is now in kids sizes so yes her Uggs this year cost about $120. She has the pink Bailey bows and I love them as well as her. I have a couple pair of Uggs myself.

She is careful with them and doesn't wear them on sloppy rainy or snowy days. She has her black Justice boots for those days. :rolleyes1

When she was younger no she didn't know the difference . I bought them because I wanted her to have them. But now in 2nd grade she does. Some of her friends have them as well as many kids in her school.

I have several pairs of Uggs and my daughters, 8 and 11, each have two pairs this season (that is pretty much all they wear). However, I would NEVER buy a pair of Uggs for a 3 year old. I can't imagine her even knowing to ask for them. I would think that knock-offs would suit her just fine.

I bought my 3 yr old a pair of knock offs but returned them when I noticed the difference in the lining. So itchy and not comfy like UGGS.

So, I do buy my 3 yr old UGGS, as well as my 8 yr old. They are both on their second pair, wear them all season long and well into spring so I definitely feel that I get my monies worth. And they are sooo cute on her lil feet! I got the Nordstrom sparkly ones this year and she gets so many compliments on them!

I just bought my 3 year old some boots from the Children's Place. I believe they are called the Chalet boot. They are real suede, and look great! I'd highly recommend them!

My DD almost 2, has had 6 pairs. Currently she has 3 different colors. Sure i could by the knock off but if I wouldn't wear fake uggs why should she.

i bought my 10 year old uggs last christmas and they are fitting her well this year. but i would never buy them for a 3 year old.

There is a reason why ugg boots are considered unfashionable and only worn by surfers or the chronically 'daggy' in its country of origin. The clue is in the name.

Do your grand daughter a favour and put her in shoes that don't look like a couple of oven mitts slapped together.

^ I would never buy counterfeit Uggs, someone selling fakes under Ugg name. I have no problem buying a similar style from The Children's Place or Gap for my DD3. She outgrows them too fast. Once she's older I will buy her some if she wants, but I really don't like Uggs on anyone older than 10.

While I know they will never win any fashion awards, Uggs are about the most comfortable things I have ever wore on my feet and that includes my very expensive shoes I wear for work.
If I was aloud to wear my Uggs at the surgery center I work in, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Um, because she is 2?! And people wonder why only children tend to develop such a sense of entitlement... Fortunately for me, my almost 11 year old understands why she will wait until she stops growing before I shell out than much money for a pair of boots, just for the brand name.

Are you paying for them? :confused3

I bought two pairs of the knockoffs at Walmart for $10 a pair last year. My girls are 5 and their feet grow very slowly -- so these boots have had 2 years of rough wear, through rain, snow, dirt, etc. They still look almost new.

My girls have no concept of brand names for clothes, I really doubt a 3 year old is insisting on real Uggs. Get one of the store knockoff types for $20 and I'm sure she will be happy with them!

It's not about affording them. There are plenty of things I can afford to buy my kids, that I don't buy, because I don't want spoiled kids. Especially five of them!

And IMOP, buying Uggs for a kid is not going to spoil them. It's the Uggs, the non discipline , the teaching of the entitlement attitude. Etc etc.
There are kids out there who never own a brand name in their life but still have a huge entitlement attitude and think everything is owed to them.

My kids have nice things but don't take things for granted and know how to care for their things.
Just the other day my daughter 's friend was over our house. I heard her tell DD she lost her iPod. My DD said , I would be punished and grounded forever.
DD's friend said not me my mom will buy me another one.

Now that's spoiled .
