Ugg boots for kids

It's not about affording them. There are plenty of things I can afford to buy my kids, that I don't buy, because I don't want spoiled kids. Especially five of them!

Well that is why I don't have 5 kids. Spoiled kids are not bad kids. You can be spoiled and still know that it is a privilege and NOT a given.

You buy what you can afford and if I'm not wearing knock offs there is no way I'm letting my daughter just because she will grow out of them. Ugly or not when you live in a climate that is averages 40 degrees for 5 months you want warm feet.

I am not ashamed of my "Brand Name" love and I hope my daughter likes nice things as well when she grows up. Yes, there are some things you go the cheap route on for kids but for the most part i like to give my child nice things.

My DD almost 2, has had 6 pairs. Currently she has 3 different colors. Sure i could by the knock off but if I wouldn't wear fake uggs why should she.

If someone I knew in real life bought their daughter UGGs (or expensive Italian boots), I wouldn't say a word. Same way I wouldn't criticize Queen2PrincessG or Punkin in this thread. It may not be what I would be my child (or any child), but so what.

If, however, my friend whined about how expensive said boots were or said "I also dont think it is right to spend 120 bucks on shoes that will look yuck in a month or two", I would point out that she didn't need to buy them. If, as the OP did, she then retorted that I was being mean in criticizing her purchase, I would either thing that she has split personality disorder or assume that the initial whine was just a means of bragging. And, yes, I would say exactly what I've written in this thread about it.

I had a 3 year old in my class last year who owned a pair of them.

She's the same age as my DD. Would I buy a pair for my DD? No. I think it's a waste of money.

That said, if she was older (as in to the point where her feet aren't growing anymore), I might consider it. $100+ for shoes she'll outgrow in 6 months, to me, is a waste. $100+ for shoes that she can keep for awhile as long as she takes care of them, to me, is not a waste but a good investment. At that point, I could spend $100 up front, or spend $20 multiple times.

Sometimes, people talk down about people who "waste" money because they're jealous. I admit that I used to be one of those people. Anymore, I really don't care. I go to church with a kid who drives an Audi. It's nicer than any can I'm sure that I'll ever own - and he's still in high school. His dad is also a doctor. The thing is, though, my van gets me around just as well as his Audi gets him around.

And my daughter's Wal-Mart tennis shoes work just as well. They might actually work better considering that UGGs have been associated with knee, hip, and back issues. UGG boots: 'Shearling' agony for feet?

My 13 year old DD is interested in UGG boots, but has already told me she is fine with knock-offs.
Can anyone tell me please if this Ebay listing is for the real UGGS or if it is a knock-off? $99 is SUCH a great deal.

Do people really brag about UGGs? I mean, I don't know the OP from a hole in the wall, but around here, everyone and her mother owns a pair of UGGs. It's not a status symbol by any means. Besides, if anyone needs to brag to total strangers online, I would just let it go.

They're not in my budget. And I doubt I'd buy them if they were. I'm more interested in simplicity than style. I like weatherproof boots that can be rinsed off when they get wet/dirty.

I have a question here and maybe you can help clear up something for me. We were told not to go over to the place you mentioned, not even to read, yet you just admitted you did and you also called them names. So by your own admission of guilt, wouldn't that make you one too? Just curious why you would post evidence of your own wrong doing?

The shoes you are referring to are called Mucknuks and they are actually more of an Alaskan native shoe.

And yes some outfits call for black some call for pink. does she need it no, but options are what make life fun.

Yes, thy are a status symbol. The lower class does not wear UGGs. Most people in the middle class do not buy them for three-year-olds, because that means dishing out 120 bucks every few months for just shoes, which is a bit extravagant for your average middle-class family. Obviously there are exceptions (one child families, grandparents, etc.), but if you live in an area where everyone, including three-year-olds, goes around wearing real UGGs, then you likely live in a reasonably affluent community.

DD13 isn't into brand names. I do clearance rack brand names, but she kind of follows her own drum sort of speak.

No way would I EVER pay $120 for a pair of shoes for a 3 year old. Actually, I wouldn't even pay that for shoes for myself, but that's another story. DEFINITELY not a 3 year old. Especially since she'll grow out of them in like a month. If she really wants boots that badly go to Target and get some knockoffs!

I have to admit I have a bit of an "issue" with brand names myself, specifically a really bad addiction to Michael Kors bags LOL. My DS13 will be getting a very expensive pair of Nike ID shoes for Christmas. I pay a lot during the year for their sneakers. Good sneakers last longer! I have no issue paying money for a good, well made, long lasting item. But I don't necessarily agree with you that nice things can't be non-brand name.

Not everything needs to be brand name and I do think that if we overload our kids, at such a young age, with all this love of "brand" instead of love of quality, we do lead them a bit awry. Brand name just for the sake of brand name is silly. There is some ugly a$$ stuff out there, with brand names, that is just ick...Where does a 3 yr old go from brand names all the time? Its not about being spoiled or not. Spoiled is a relative term. I just think kids need to learn progression, working to obtain, learning value and aspiring to earn things. Im just not one that believes we should start our kids at such a high level ALL THE TIME just because of a name.

The BRAND isn't what makes them nice.......a little label, plaque or symbol isn't what makes it nice... just sayin'

Well I live in Maryland and see little ones in Uggs all the time too.
