Two questions about 'Ohana

We are staying at the Poly for a couple nights in August, and want to try out 'Ohana for dinner the night we arrive. I just have a couple of questions that I can't find answers to anywhere so I was hoping someone could help.... First off, we're a party of 10. What is the biggest table they have? I know we may be seated separately, but was wondering if they have long tables in addition to the round ones I have seen in pictures. It is very difficult to split into the round tables as we have 4 older kids, 4 adults, and 2 little ones. The 4 older kids can usually sit alone, but here they still might need some help with the meat and especially the shrimp, so there will be a lot of getting up and sitting down if we have to go over and help them with every plate. The little ones need to sit with us, and the adults would like to sit together as well, otherwise what is the point of even going together? So it would be a lot easier if we could just get side by side long tables where some of the kids could sit on either side of the adults, and make for easier plate assembling and passing, lol.

Also, I see that kids can order off a kids menu as an alternate choice. If they choose something on the kids menu, can they still eat from the family style offerings as well? I'm just wondering about my 4 year old...she will love the broccoli, noodles, and maybe the potstickers, but I think the meat will be too spicy for her. If I get her an order of chicken nuggets so she can have some meat, is she still allowed to eat the other stuff as well?

Thanks!

Last summer we had a party of 20 and we all sat at one REALLY big table. It was great. We all wore Hawaiian shirts/dresses. It is my understanding that kids can order off of a kids menu. Not sure about eating parts of the family style meal. They brought vanilla ice cream with sprinkles along with the bread pudding. The kids loved it! I hope that you enjoy O'hana as much as we do. It is our favorite. It is always our last meal of our vacation. Have fun!

Yes, the absoluetly have a large long straight tables. I say several parties, from weddings or family reunions of up to 20 people.

As for your kids trying the food, not sure the "rules" but doubt they would say anything.:confused3

Have a great time. I would not wait too long to make that adr. They fill up fast.:thumbsup2

First things first- I went with a group of 10 last year and they fit us all at one (large, round) table no problem. I think they can also push together long rectangular tables. They always seem to be good about putting large groups together. :thumbsup2 Leah and David from the podcast board recently ate at Ohana with some of the podcast crew. They had a pretty big group and were put together. If you're FB friends with Corey you can see him tagged in it. Here is the link but not sure if it will work: http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs410.snc3/24796_1268221022763_1146930131_30741210_645586_n.jpg

The servers encourage the kids to try the adult foods first and then they will bring kid fare, so you shouldn't have a problem with them eating both.

Seating a part of 10 is nothing. My party was much bigger and they got us all together at a long table. Did you make reservations because I suggest for a big party doing so or else you may have to wait a long time to get proper seating. Good food, and I forget what we got there, but I left extremely full. It was this meal where they keep bringing out different dishes, one at a time with all kinds of meats and vegetables. If you have a big appetite it's fun and delicious. Good atmosphere for children as well.

Have you made ADRs yet? If not, I am not even sure you could get a table at this point. Reservations can be made 180 days in advance and there are few tables for larger parties. 'Ohana is very popular and very hard to get into even at the 180 day mark.

I would be on the phone with Disney Dining asap... but most likely you will need to be calling every day to try and get a cancellation. However, you never know, and may get lucky.

Was just their last Friday and they had a group of 15. They put a few tables together to make one long rectangle.

As for the food. My teenage son is not a meat eater but we didn't make a fuss as we thought he could pick at the other stuff. Well the waiter came over to serve him some beef and he commented that he didn't eat meat. The next thing I know they brought him a huge plate of mac and cheese and fries without us even having to ask. The servers were all really awesome.

BTW we had a seating time of 8:20 pm and it was a perfect time to view the MK fireworks show (at 9pm). We had the perfect window seat :wizard:

LOL, I love mac and cheese. If I knew they'd hook me up with that I would've said the same thing when I was there.

Awesome! Thanks for all the responses! Good to know we'll all be able to sit together most likely. We had the same party of 10 last year and went to Teppan Edo and had to sit in two groups across the room from each other, which made it like we didn't even go together.

Yes, I did make an ADR yesterday for our group of 10. There seemed to be quite a bit of availability still which kind of surprised me. The reservation is for 6:30 on a Sat. night and they had several other time slots available as well around "normal" dinner hours. :confused3 I thought I would have more trouble!

Yes, as you are actually paying for the family style offerings. Even if you order something different for the kids, you're still paying the full amount (or using one full dining credit if you are on the plan.)
